"Pizza in the evening" is a not an NP, as the student intimated. It is an adjunct to the verb. "Pizza with tomato topping" would work better.

it is semantically wrong but if we look syntactically then it is a DP where determiner is null and NP the compliment of DP is right.

Sir, I think the spelling of ' compliment' is wrong. The correct one, I hope, will be ' complement'.
