It was built in medieval times unlike the more recent mosques shown in this video (some of which built by the ajnabi). The massive dome and fractal patterns was a huge engineering feat, and can be traced back to pre-Islamic Zoroastrian Persian architecture. Hagia Sofia does _NOT_ count; it was a seized Christian basilica not a mosque.
