Hard to believe 400 feet. Hand pumps at the top of a well are limited to about 33 feet due to air pressure.

@@EESkillsThen please explain how the pump can suck water more than 30 feet up? Its physically impossible without a pump at water level.
Also, I dare say it's impossible to push 400ft of pipe down with only the weight of a few people, due to friction, and even more impossible to lift it all back up with that method. Maybe 100ft but not more.

There are valves further down, essentially pushing the water up. Or could be.
Didn't see it here though, maybe the water table is not as deep.
Just cleaner water way down. Didn't see any protection against contamination either.

Ha ha. Only a bunch of rubes would believe this. Laws of physics are not breakable. When you try to suction water past around 30ish feet, the lower pressure causes the water to turn to vapor. Done.

It is not 400 feet. It is 25" max. How do I know? Physics. Water density is such that the maximum that can be pulled up with suction is 25' regardless of borehole size. Water density does not change.

@@thonatim5321 Water table has nothing to do with well depth , a well can be be 400 feet, as long as the water table stays over ,lets say 7 meter , you will be able to pump water with a suction pump.

@@EESkills I watched pipe go in - I saw about 50 feet. But that is not relevant. Physics is true - you simply cannot pump from more than 32 feet down with a pump at the top. If the water surface in the well was more than 32 feet below the ground, it would not be possible to use suction to pull it up. The well diggers were lucky (or knew from working in the same area in the past) that water was close enough to the surface to reach with the pump they had.

No matter how deep they put that suction hose, the water table can be no more than about 32' below the well head for a suction pump to work.
I understand WHY they pulled the drilling caseing, pipe is expensive. But if the water table sinks past 32', that suction pump will then be useless- If they had left that well caseing, they could have still later install a DOWN ROD PUMP and keep using it as a manual well, or even drop an ejector pump down it later if they had electricity.

Or have I misunderstood the process?

    • @EESkills

This is the process for drilling to earth and at the end got water by hand-pump

    • @sahil5694
      @sahil5694 Рік тому +4

That's only remove the excess soil under that, the soil collects in that hollow pipe they left up and down.. and due to the weight of person, the pipe platform goes down as platform is connected with those pipes .. atlast, they remove the pipes by other method by pushing it out .
And at last, attach the hand pump to the other pipe and start to pump the water.

    • @EESkills

They pour water in the hole to make the loose soil collect into mud
The pipe they drop down in a cup, the top is open so when its weight sinks into the mud, the mud on top fills the pipe and they pull it up and empty it.
The weight of the man, the stand and the pipe/cup crush the soil below the pipe and it sinks into the ground
The problem is a hand well head pump can only draw water from 30-35 feet
So not only is this a 100'deep hole, the water table is no less than 35 feet below ground or they wouldn't be able to draw any water without modern self priming pumps
