It takes bravery to dismantle and reassemble such a complex clock. I have a Mauthe clock with this same chime and I would dread having to do this task!
My great grandparents owned a clock and watch store in Chemnitz before and during the war. The store was completely destroyed in the March 1945 bombing of the city. Today the large bust of Karl Marx sits 20 meters to the left of where the store once stood. We were fortunate to have several clocks that were at home and today one of them hangs on my wall still working perfectly.
It's the first time I see a clock like this... I've seen mantel clocks made by FMS with this chime, but never a wall clock! This type of clock is probably next to nonexistent... It's very good that this one survived! By the way, you've got an amazing collection of rare clocks! I'm glad that I discovered your channel and seen some new types of clocks (those with Tessiner and Volks gong, the 2 weight Grand Sonnerie clock, and also I thought that I'd never see a second GB wall clock with Whittington chime!). Keep up the good work :)
This clock is wery comun in Brasil. Its fros Junghans oder from Junghans oder facktory after 1930 : Gustav Bäcker, In Freiburg In Schlesien ( today Poland) . The most comun ist with three springs von Junghans. The sound is Westminter! But in this clock here the boy change two of the sound bars.
My grandparents had a clock like this. I restored it to working order many years ago. I'm not sure if it's still running at this point. Yes it was from Germany, but since it was exported to Canada, it just had a regular chime without the Nazi chime.
You're a brave man letting that mainspring down with just the key. I've had badly bruised fingernails doing it that way. Great job with this. I would love to have a clock like this in my collection, nazi chime and all.
I have a similar clock that has been in our family for at least six generations. It has 3 main springs. It chimes every 15 minutes and it counts on the hour with a Westminster melody. I would never dare to take it apart, but it needs a service.
This one have only two springs, but make the same work! Is not so common! I have a Junghans with three springs to! It have 100 years! and works perfekt!

Thank you! These clockmakers tumblers are great because you can exactly control how clean the parts will become. From just removing the dirt but leaving the patina to as shiny as new.
I have an identical clock - but I do not think it is German. It is stunning how accurate the clock time is. I have a question - my clock has a metal brack on the inside of the back of the case, and I have no idea of it's function. It is like a saw-tooth level with the bottom of the clockface. Do you know what it's function is?
OMG - just checked and they do fold together over the rods. I have moved the clock so many times as I moved house and never realised that. Thank you so much.@@uhrennarrLR
Dear sir, first, let me congrat you with your quite new channel. I like it, and looking at the thumbnails, I imediatly recognized my clock, as shown in this vid. Mine seems to be a slightly cheeper version, as it doesn't play German songs but only has a two tone chime. Mine has an interestng issue that I would like to ask you about. Just before getting into details, I 'd like to ask you: Are you at all interested in this type of conversation? If so, do you have an email that you are willing to post here? Could send you some pics. Maybe a bit difficult but I just don't want to post my mail for everyone to see on Tube. Would be nice hearing from you.. Regards V.
Hi, the same clock was built with BimBam-chime, which was the standard, while the special chimes were only offered in 1933 and 34. I don't mind helping out, go ahead and contact me at rupprecht.uhren@gmail.com. This goes for anyone reading this.

He did a lot of wrong when he hit the drum lid directly with the hammer! . There you hit it with a small piece of wood to avoid leaving hammer marks on the drum. You are setting the WRONG example!
In my experience, a small hammer doesn't leave marks on the sturdy main spring barrels of these quite modern German clocks. On french and most older clocks I use a rubber hammer or wood underlay. But you're right, I should have used one of those here as well to not set the wrong example for those who might not know the difference.
Have you read the description? This clock chimes "Volk ans Gewehr", the main fighting song of the Nazi Party. While I agree that the term NAZI is used way too loosely nowadays, it actually does fit in this case.
This thing should've had been blown up, not restored. Shame on you.
Mad 😂
Why blow it up??
Nonsense, why destroy such a lovely thing?
Someone is having trouble living in the now.

You're so cool, because there are very few or none. To take the mechanism of this clock out and show it.

That’s a ballsy man right there
I never thought to use a rock tumbler to clean the parts! I would be afraid things would be bent and pivots broken.
Don't worry, that's a clockmaker's tumbler, made by Lortone. The granulate is ceramic and won't wear down metals.
What a beautiful clock! My grandfather had a similar one.

German, Not Nazi Clock.
It was made to capitalize off of the rising nationalism in Germany during World War II

What a good idea to use a rubber tumbler drum to polish the parts! They look beautiful!

@@uhrennarrLR Yeah, I've had many discussions about such things! I like shiny & new-looking, others like dull with patina...
Wow, tolle Uhr. Sehr selten, da ich diese Melodie nicht kenne. Ich wünsche viel Erfolg bei der Reparatur.
Is this clock available for purchase? I love the Volk ans Gewehr bell chimes.
Sorry currently not, but I'm always looking for any examples.

Both sides can be turned inwards to clasp and secure the chiming rods during transport.

very blurry video and not close enough to make out what you are doing. I do appreciate you work. I just want to see more.
Thank you, I'm still new to this and will improve my videos in the future.

Is it by any chance FMS (Mauthe)?
Yes, it's a Mauthe clock with Volksgong. See my vid about Nazi Chimes by Mauthe and Kienzle on my channel for more information.

You need an ultrasonic cleaner in your life.
Oh I have one, I just prefer the tumbler because I can more easily control the grade of polishing of the brass parts.

Why nazy? Its a german clock. I dont see any svastica on it...
Because it chimes Volk ans Gewehr, the anthem of the Nazi party.
What's have it to do with nazi's. Is a 1933 german clock.
Have you read the description? This clock chimes "Volk ans Gewehr", the main fighting song of the Nazi Party. While I agree that the term NAZI is used way too loosely nowadays, it actually does fit in this case.
How possibly can a clock be nazi?
By chiming the Nazi anthem Volk ans Gewehr.
I would retune it for a different song. Maybe "The Star Spangled Banner" or "Give Peace A Chance?"
Study the history of the star spangled banner. like give peace a chance
