Grandmas in my hometown don't need those steps. Wait for the rain, plant it in Open space, put some tree branches for it to climb and forget bout it, Rain and soil will take care of it👍
Can you do watermelon? This video is really informative and inspiring. It's very digestible! Thank you and will be using it for my cucumbers crop! I exceptionally like your added info on soil/night temperature.
I plant three times as many cucumbers as I need. When they all start coming in at the same time I pick and pickle. Then I pull 75% of the plants so I'll have fresh cucumbers all year. That way I get my pickles and I don't have way too many fresh. Plus you have room for another crop.
Thank you thank you thank you so much for making this so short into the point I appreciate not having to listen for a long period of time. I will look to see what else you have.
I know what you mean! Definitely not easy - so you could always just try it on one plant if you wanted and then see how it does compared to the other ones :)
about the only thing I did was water my cucumbers and they grew like crazy they exploded all over my garden I didn't have to pick the first flowers and I'm bad I think that's a waste of time I had plenty of cucumbers I think I fed my entire small town
Thank you for the video. If all 5 seeds in the cell germinate do you plant that out together? Kill off the other ones and just leave one or two? Separate them all (would worry about root disturbance). I’ve had issues with cucumbers every year and I really want to have one successful season!
What is superfood ingredients and ht do they need and how often do you fertilize? Love this video and your garden and your energy. I had no idea o top the first ones off. I'm so going I can get lots my daughter loves cukes. As we all do. Beautiful ❤😊
All of the first flowers should be pinched off which simply means removing them from the plant. This can be done with fingers (literally pinching them) or with pruning shears. I do this for the first 3-4 weeks after transplanting to let the plant just put out foliage growth
They do! But you can hand pollinate them by using a QTip and taking the pollen from the male flower over to the female flower. Additionally, since it will be winter you'll want to make sure you're heating the greenhouse to at least 70F/20C for them to do well, and to help them grow to their absolute fullest potential a grow light is massively helpful!
Great question! Yes separate the seedlings to accommodate your garden spacing so they are not overcrowded as they develop. You can choose the strongest seedlings out of the 5 and compost the rest :)
Can someone pls answer a question?? I heard some plants are done with their life cycle once they flower. And how you should pick the flower heads to keep them producing longer, or to help young plants grow bigger, so all the energy is going to the foliage and not the flower... such as with cucumber & pepper plants. So I picked all the first flowers of my young bean plants... but then saw a vid saying to pick excess foliage to spur more flowers to grow. I'm so confused. When should you pick the flowers and when not to ....and on which plants?? I'm growing so many things and this part is so confusing. 😒
and just like most of the growing videos in internet everything's far more complicated than it actually is 1. plant in a tray 2. replant whenever there are no longer negative temperatures 3. put poles where they can climb 4. keep under direct sunlight and water like crazy 5. leave them be (except for the frequent harvests)
You could put in a bucket that's how I started them use a tomato cage or anything to give them climbing trellis they are so much better look for.anydpsce you'd be surprised what you can grow even in your window
City people be like: in 60 seconds. Why don't I grow all my food. Country people: wait a few months from planting and be sure to look after them for maximum productivity
None of this is necessary. We planned straight into soil with no trellis, and waters regularly like our lawn and three plants grew more cucumbers than we could eat and pickle combined
I have a little cucumber growing on my seedling, (the plant is ready for outdoor planting in a few days) it’s going to break my heart when breaking the little fruit off 😢🥺
Absolutely! You'll need a 5gallon grow bag to plant them in and ideally 2 grow lights to ensure they are getting enough light. After that you're off to the races!
Please help me grow cucumbers. My cucumber plants are being destroyed by cucumber beetles every year. I have given up planting cucumbers and cantaloupes. Very sad! Thank you.
City folk: it’s been 60 seconds! Where the hell is my cucumbers!! #%*# Country folk: I bet them city folk are sitting there waiting on their cucumbers!! 😂
Here's something I just learned and I can see now why mine didn't do good inside starters need wind to help make root system and stem bigger and better without wind you'll get really stemmy plants and roots won't be very strong
do not pick the first flowers off, itll stunt your plant big time. youll put it on pause for 3-4 weeks wich is not a good idea especially if you have winter climates or frost for 6+ months outa the year. those 3-4 weeks matter
Depending on where you live and other variables, yes. Some people do it and have great results, others not so much. Try it with a couple plants and see how they compare to the rest. That's the only way you'll know for sure.
Dang only 60 seconds 😳 those must grow really 💨
Oh yeah!! 🤣
@@MindandSoil what the hell "warer" means?

It's really nice to know I was doing literally everything wrong 🤣
I'm bettin" you enjoyed a lot of cucumbers with all you did wrong.
It's always an experiment in the garden! Always learning :)

Same. There’s always next year

Hahha oh no!

If possible, plant more than one variety and cross pollinate for maximum production (after the first harvest).
Thank you! I started my cucumbers all the way in March and they’re flowering in the ground. I will probably be removing all the flowers tomorrow

my mother in law just plants them in plain soil with her own compost and nothing else and they grow amazing.
Your mother in law doesn't get her advice from YT. She knows about growing cukes.
Soil and compost is great!
I prune a lot of plants, but cucumbers is never one that needs it. There's always plenty of foliage and plenty of cucumbers.
I plant three times as many cucumbers as I need. When they all start coming in at the same time I pick and pickle. Then I pull 75% of the plants so I'll have fresh cucumbers all year. That way I get my pickles and I don't have way too many fresh. Plus you have room for another crop.
Nice! That's a cool approach
Consistent water is important. Mulching your cucumber bed is ideal, so that the plant gets consistent moisture.
Thank you thank you thank you so much for making this so short into the point I appreciate not having to listen for a long period of time. I will look to see what else you have.
You want a really warm room or heat mat to germinate the seeds. Cucumber tend to germinate at quite warm temps.
Thanks for sharing !
It’s a 100 degrees in Texas. I planted my seeds on 6/13. I see some movement. I water them everyday due to the extreme heat.
What is the superfood for the cucumbers?
That’s what I wanted to know too. But I think I’m gonna be using a liquid one that’s good for all vegetables and fruits.
A lot of information I’m a little time ⏰ Thank you ❤
I love cucumbers. 💕
Woohoo!
What kinda of bugs or insects do you attract?
What do you use to keep them away and off your produce? I love the videos!
My cucumbers are still producing!! I planted the seedlings out in April we've had CRAZY enormous cucs all summer and now even fall

If you use sprinkler irrigation in the UK you are required to have a water meter installed. Something to consider.

@@MindandSoilThank you for that clarification. Doing it for 3-4 weeks is more than literally just the first flowers.
Curious if cucumbers have to be pollinated? Wanted to plant in Greenhouse, over winter.
There is a variety called Monika that does not require pollination to produce fruit. You can get them from Baker Creek seeds.
Man am i happy i found this channel randomly hell yeah
No seeds in the fruit right ?
Yup there will be seeds in the fruit!
Do you thin out the cucumbers from the five seedlings to just one or two prior to transplanting?
