In middle school, my geography teacher said she'd give me an A if I learned all the african countries and their capitals. I had to name them all on a map (with borders). I did. 10 years later, I remember maybe like 5 of them lol
Bro! There's days I'm miles from home. But I make it to my bed everytime. With random shit in my pocket. Once I had beef jerky, I was so blasted I told my girl it was mushrooms so she won't get mad at me.
I can confirm that this is not always the case. I was once awoken by a concerned, elderly nun in Split, Croatia as I attempted to get some sleep underneath a sarcophagus (stone coffin) having failed to get back to my campsite.
One thing! Just one thing! Please tell IT to me: WHY tf do I have so many fans even though no UA-camr is unprettier than I am? WORLDWIDE!!!! WHY??? Tell me, dear tre
I got 100% in 2 mins in my first try borderless Africa. I'm not African. I bet I'm better at geography than you. I know everything about African geography.
I remember I had a hardcore AP human geography teacher my final year of high school who made us memorize every country in africa, and every other continent. Im not as good with asia and europe anymore, but now I can proudly say I'm better than Tom at one single thing I've seen him do on this channel. African geography.
Tom, your video views the past 5 months or so have been mental. How have you felt about your recent success this past year? Keep ‘em coming. And also, get in!!
The order you get them makes a huge difference. I got Eswatini, Rwanda, The Gambia, Togo, Guinea-Bissau and Equatorial Guinea as my first six. I couldn't have picked it any better.
I'm super looking forward to the Scotland adventures Tom and I bet they're gonna be fantastic. That said make sure you take it easy and fit in some time for yourself in this busy period. Whatever anyone else says we can wait :)
The average score is 70% at the time when Tom made the video. When I attempted the quiz (when he uploaded) the average score was 69% and now with all the goes we have had as a community, the average score has dropped to 68%
Well i think its good that you did and uploaded this, because it really educates us on African geography too, even if you get some of the places wrong ( tho you did quite good imo ):
i love this channel so much for the way he just speaks and keeps the editing as non intrusive as possible. every other youtuber nowadays zooms in on their face every other word and feels the need to edit something in at all times.
Tom I’m not exaggerating when I say I’m 5 minutes in and I have not stopped creasing once!! Your dry self deprecating British humour just has me on ropes every video. Love from London
Felt confident in my Africa knowledge and tried the quiz before watching the video - on my first attempt i had 84%, which I hope isn't too shameful! Most proud of the Swaziland, Djibouti, and Togo picks, which were mostly luck considering I had no reference countries :)
84% is pretty good first try. 85% here haha. togo is indeed a tough one because there are no distinct geographical features to distinct it. if you look closely eswatini and lesotho stand out on the map quite a bit. good luck trying to get 100% ;)
@@MH-tm7xv I was confused by how he seemed to know where the countries were after he made the guess so I kept rewinding and looking really closely for any changes on the screen when he made his guesses and was able to spot it
I love the 'get in' every once in a while, but the "Tom putting his head in his hands because of true self loathing and disgust" is a nice one as well.
I would get South Africa, Madagascar, and Egypt only, probably... except by guessing, of course. This was hilarious, Tom! Well done, congrats. For some reason I was sure that Yemen bordered Chad.
Conveniently I happened to practice up my Africa geography recently, so took great pleasure in playing along and battering you in something geography related for once, even knowing it wasn't exactly fair xD
I'm not colourblind and I can tell you that I had to rewind every time a country was highlighted red because it was so hard to spot it. They didn't exactly do a stellar job making it easily noticeable lol
@Evan Spevak I'm definitely not lol. What I mean is that because they made the colour overlays very transparent/subtle and didn't separate them in terms of lightness/darkness/contrast it wasn't easy to spot where a red dot popped up if you were focusing on the other part of the screen (aka where the cursor was). Obviously you can see if you focus or pause but it could have been done in a much more obvious/attention-grabbing way.
Hahaha woooww that second "africa" was with a perfect dutch accent for some random reason! Or were you trying to do it in Afrikaans, which is dutch mixed with other languages and kinda has the same dialect.
They are not really that small though, it just looks that way on the commonly used distorted world map (where everything in the north gets enlarged and near the equator is shrunk)
togo and benin without context is hard. Togo is not exactly on the border with a lake but a couple hudnred kilometers away so you just gotta know how far away it is roughly same with guinea bissau and the gambia if you dont have surrounding context lesotho and eswatini have geographical features which you can use to find them so theyre fine that being said i did this map 2 days ago w my gf (she got absolutely destroyed as she is terrible at geography) and i could get all in around 5 minutes time
After seeing this I spent some time on Sporcle and found the "Complete the map snippet" quizzes really interesting. You get only the shape of one country on an empty map and have to type in the names of other countries that would appear on that map.
