People are sitting here talking about the punt return, Like it was the only play in the game. With no more time left on the clock. Iowa had many of chances but 12 yards of offence after the half against minnesota is just sad.

Point spread was not covered in both contests this year and laat year. Both games had controversial calls. Both games had offical Tim O'Dey present and involved. Believe in coincidences all you want and be foolish if it makes you feel good. But this a screw job plain and simple. It was done to make some money for some specific people. In order to cover the spread, the team must surpass it by at least one point. 3.5 was the spread this time. Iowa would have won by 5 if they held Minnesota off after that touchdown had it stood. Last year Jack Campbell's touchdown had it stood would have had Iowa win by seven, and the spread was 3. They would have covered. I think I've proven it. Enough said.

Ferentz has made it clear, that his priorities are #1 Family First; #2 Hawkeyes Nation Second..,and everything the guy says and does follow those loyalties despite what word salad he chooses at any particular time;; they have played 1,,, yes 1 top 25 this year and they scored exactly 0 points and that was with the QB that he said today was clearly the #1 and on another level from the #2; Ferentz is a super arrogant and selfish guy despite being a quality head coach in many respects; I would hope that the Iowa faithful, or more to the point, the Iowa AD, would pull him aside soon and offer him a graceful exit strategy that is he does not take, results in his involuntary dismissal

I love how Kirk takes no responsibility for the performance of his offense and his son as the OC. You don't deserve to win a Big1G game if you have a total of 127 yds and only 11 yds rushing. If you had a functioning offense this wouldn't need to have to come down to a miraculous punt return.

I'm sorry but this man just doesn't look like a fighter..... Like he wants this team to go to the next level... Idk. But I'm not an Iowa fan, but I'm just amazed by how this school could put out such good defenses year after year and not ever take the next step on getting a modern offense... This team in my opinion would be a playoff caliber team if they just had an offense!!! Its uncanny to me, how they can play a team like Minnesota and score 10 points!. 10 points in the year 2023??? Its unbelievable!! You just played a game where your defense gave up 12 points.... And you LOST!! To Minnesota l?.. I'm sorry Iowa fans, you might not want to hear this but. This school needs to come into this century, and get a coach that will bring in an offense that can make some explosive plays!!! This is Crazy!! You have a top 3 or 4 defense in the country.... But you can't score!!! Why doesn't IOWA fix this?? Im a Michigan fan. My whole life and I am familiar with Iowa fans and they are some of the most loyal, knowledge, passionate fans in the country and they deserve to see this team in the playoffs!!! This has gone on to long! I know the punt and the penalty was a horrible, back breaking call. But come on. The bigger problem is the offense... Getting the ball on your40 yard line, with 140 left, and all you need is a FG...against Minnesota!!! You should have gone right down the field!! This team needs a change!! Its needs an offensive minded coach...... Its not 1934....

@@mikerotonda6264 Yet we still win just as much as Michigan, literally less than 5 win difference over the past 10 years. Ohio State and Michigan get 10+ five star recruits every year and yet Iowa performs the same with 2-3 star players. Thats because of coaching. It is also why we have sent the most players to the NFL in the big ten. There are 14 teams in the big ten and 11 of them would switch places with Iowa in a heartbeat. This shit about Iowa being on the downward trend is stupid, people just would rather see us win by 50 instead of 10 but in reality both wins mean the same.

Iowa doesn't suck they just are not flashy and their offense is not good at the moment. Ferentz put this program on the map. I like how you put 9-3 like that's just average. they didn't call him for making a fair catch. That is why they let the play continue and as soon as he started running, he was fair game and thus no penalty against Minnesota. Upon review, it was determined that he made an invalid "fair catch" signal and thus the ball would be dead at point of his contacting the ball with possession. This is clearly in the rule book and can't be any clearer. Any waving of the arm other than a valid fair catch signal, which is a waving of the arm above the head, is an invalid fair catch signal.

Iowa still had the ball with enough time to kick a field goal to win the game, but the execution was terrible like most of the game. Even so, Minnesota still had time to score again to win. So who knows what might have happened.

Oh I’ll also mention that if it was a fair catch gophers should have gotten a flag for attempting to tackle him and would have put us on the edge of field goal territory. We’ve got us a bit of an onion to peel here. But our offense is damn near the worst in the country so I’m just venting.

@@dddizzyddd #1 as soon as he started running, he was fair game, thus no penalty on Gophers since the whistle to stop play had not been blown. #2 - as per the rules he signaled an invalid fair catch signal. Doesn't matter what his intentions were because any waving of his arm other than raising it above his head is an invalid fair catch signal (which happened BEFORE the ball hit the ground) and therefore a dead ball at the point of where he touched the ball.
Section 8, Article 1c: A valid or invalid fair catch signal deprives the receiving team of the opportunity to advance the ball. The ball is declared dead at the spot of the catch or recovery. If the catch precedes the signal, the ball is dead when the signal is first given.
