Jim definitely getting commissions from the PGMOL😂
They’re all for the establishment
96% he dos, remember the premier league published these stats they cant and wouldnt make them up * from the mutli-billion £ product that doesnt want to look bad*
I still don't understand how people don't get Jim whites Role in all of this, he's literally paid to play devil's advocate with Simon Jordan! That's it if Jim White wants VAR scraped he can never say so listen to how he talks he doesn't believe 99% of the things he talks about, he sold his sole when he moved to talk sport....
90% of fans would want it removed. I would like automated off side and penalty decisions only.
@leewilson2261
Keep goal line technology too.
The fans are the fans... As Jose would say.
And red cards if you ask me.
And also stop giving penalties for handballs that aren't blocking a SHOT at the goal.
Would really do automated offside, but really would prefer VAR but not by PGMOL
Yeh goal line tech. And penalty reviews ONLY if the on field Ref asks to see it. The offside rule needs a massive overhaul. It should be if you can see any light between players he is offside.. at the moment they give offsides based on position. It should be whether the attacking player has an advantage. Ie. A yard or two.
The lines they draw and disallow a goal for a toe nail being ahead of play that ruins it for me. That’s not the purpose of the offside rule
100%, offside was brought in to prevent blatant goal hanging, now it's about toenails and shoulders being over some imaginary line. It's garbage. The rule needs changing so that it's not about these minute details. The player should be clearly offside, otherwise they should be deemed onside.
You can start by getting rid of Howard Webb, he's turned VAR into a joke.
Who decides what percentages are correct?? 😂
Exactly 👍🏻
Even 'IF' ...IF... we believe their stats.
Thats not counting the wrong decisions introduced by var.
I've lost count of the number of times the initial decision was right - and var than undoes it for a non sensical reason.
Or a legitimate goal is scored, which no one complains about - than var invents a reason to undo it
When calls can be subjective no percentage can be used and if a call isn't clear and obvious error but it's a mistake the onfield it stands as a right call so what is it a error is an error obvious or not
The refs are marking their own homework and giving themselves good marks and Jim White thinks that's fine.
I've mentioned it before. Does anyone actually believe they monitored decision percentages to such a degree before VAR.
The 82% - 96% comparison is just another spoon fed piece of nonsense to sway the fans.
We all know there is now far too much money being made by all concerned, the Manufacturers of the technology, Stockley Park and even the likes of Talk Sport who fill hours of air time discussing the fall out to after every game.
Jim white is so condescending, how people can like him is beyond me.
💯 He’s on the take. Not on the side of the fans. He’s a criminal like the rest of them
He's awful,. he's always on the wrong side of every issue. He's total shite.
It's clear and obvious.
All this discussion has shown is that Jim probably isn’t actually a fan of football
The biggest problem for me is the celebrating a goal. I've stopped fully celebrating when there is a goal because I'm waiting to see if there is going to be a VAR check. That has to stop because it's ruining the most enjoyable part of what football is.
Would you prefer a blatant offside being missed in a title deciding game instead? I agree it's taking fun out but trust me football won't get better when mistakes increase. Today refs are not putting flag up a lot of the time as they know they can rely on var as fall back. With no var flags will be going up a lot more and as a result a lot more errors
Ask players to stop infriginging the rules then.
You score a goal, but your team mate pulls a defenders shirt to stop him from defending the ball before the goal. That's the attacking players fault. Not VAR.
Exactly, that's maybe the most important. Also why put so much technology in a game that's suppose to be simple. Sensors in shirts, automatic offsides, ai. Will at first make on field referres redundant. Then all humans referee redundant with IT coding and AI deciding what's a fault. Are we insane? It's a game for humans only. Why are we doing this to ourselves?
@@zaidahmed9527yes prefer mistakes made by humans on the pitch in real time. The players are making mistakes on the pitch. All should be done there, quickly with no technology, or very little technology
I totally understand what your saying but its how long it takes to make a decision for me i have watched so much football this season and every foul made handball made i got correct in 30 seconds with one replay@foundationofthought7155
I preferred the refs making mistakes in real time rather than wait five minutes for them to make one
Paradox
They get it right more often than not
VAR will stay.
Deal with it.
Simon should be in the VAR box. Decisions given on facts and stats 100% of the time.
Simon = top LAD proper clobber

THEY HAVE TRIED TO IMPROVE IT! Every year for the last 5 years and it gets progressively worse every time. Every poll I have seen asking the fans is overwhelmingly for scrapping it. Just get rid
They haven't taken the improvement seriously then. True improvement always shows.
@@DC-zi6se That's the point of is comment lol

@@40yearoldvirgil15 and I’ve seen 5-6 that are 70-30 to get rid and 1 on Amazon prime that is 55-45 to keep. So there we go
One of the most annoying things is when you get an offside decision that you can clearly see by eye that it's offside, and for some reason they take 3 minutes to decide on it. What are they doing in there? And that penalty that Anthony Gordon didn't get last night, despite showing his ripped sock was bizarre. The VAR officials seem to only be there to agree with the ref. Doku literally kicked Mac Allister in the chest and no penalty! That changes the entire title race.
VAR should be independent from the PGMOL. It's scandalous that the referees are reffin themselves. An independent VAR is the way forward and stop ref's reffing their buddies
With POGMOL and Howard Webb should have nothing to do with it.
I would have absolutely loved someone to come on and say that, the minute that ex- ref said he didn't call his "MATE" to the monitor because he thought he'd already had enough trouble in the Match was the biggest indicator that the human side of VAR was the problem!!
Jim White talks utter tripe. The game is about the fans and he is so dismissive of any other opinion when it doesn't agree with his
He's literally there to play devil's advocate with Simon Jordan!! Jim White has absolutely no other role in this conversation than to set up Simon Jordan, you can tell by the way he askes the questions like (yeah but Simon this is good for the Pgmol surly) or (yeah but Simon the Fa have come out and told the Fan's just have to except there decisions so that's that) cue Simon with his over complicated Rhetoric about the question to make himself look clever whilst patronising the caller ...its all an Act Jim doesn't agree with 70% of the stuff he askes,
As a wolves season ticket holder I'm sure it needs to go ,the main point is how it ruins match day for people who attended games ,if you're team scores you are waiting for the VAR call it is ok for TV audience , a fair few goals we have had disallowed we have to ring home to find out why , that can't be right ?
This is my point aswell. In the stadiums we have zero clue what is going on. I’m sick of the plastic sofa fans just completely disregarding the match going fans. Scrap VAR or clubs are going to lose a lot of match going fans. No match going fans No football 👍
Hawk eye technology is not var
Automated offside, and goal line technology are absolutes technology. Hawkeye technology can do these things, with ai.
Hawkeye works in football, var does not
They are different technologies
In the future all players will be robots cause human error is unacceptable!!!
@@abccba5637the point is, micro managing is what causing the problem. It’s the same issue every government has around the world. Authority trying to micro manage everything. Simplify it. 96 percent accuracy? What planet do these ppl live on? Look at the sheer volume of apologies issued this season. No way is that 4 percent
How many apologies this season?
I don't hear apologies coming the other way from clubs when VAR has proved them wrong !!!!
@@DC-zi6se You the one that has to explain how you conclude that VAR is 96% right?! What does your stat considers right, how did you reach that 96%!!!
You’re right it’s incredible how they work out these stats. 96% correct is their own stat not the real stat for example how often do we here when a penalty decision is given or not you here if the ref had give it the var wouldn’t of changed and vice versa, how the hell is that a correction decision to them. It shows that you can distort stats to suit any agenda and that is what is happening, just look last night with Gordon for Newcastle he was clearly taken out and the ref said no foul and Var don’t intervene. That will go down as a correct decision and go into the 96% success stat, what a joke time to get rid of Var for a year and train new non referee operatives to do the job and once they are competent to do it bring it back in. Keep var and refs separate and we will not have none of this protecting the referee rubbish.
"IF" we believe these stats...IF
That ignores the mistakes being introduced by var
I've lost count of the number times the initial decision was right - and var undoes it for a non sensical reason
Or actively looks to disallow legitimate goals
Whatever the decision of this meeting by PL clubs, it should be made public. That way fans can see which way their club voted. So when VAR makes a bad decision next season, there can be no complaints from the clubs which voted to keep VAR. This includes any clubs which abstain.
The 96% success stat is total nonsense! VAR covering for the ref does not make the decision correct...we keep being told that the refs are only human, but VAR is not allowed to make its own decision on what actually happened, accepting that they are human and might miss something. Putting VAR in place to find ways to cover for the ref makes no sense and drives us all mad!
Totally agree. Sick of hearing this 96% being paraded around, but we have absolutely no background as to what they class as a correct decision. Just to cover up the fact that they're bad at their job.
Part of that 96% is Ashley Young swatting a football away with his hand.
“Mistakes happen but was it a clear and obvious one….. “ I hate that. If it’s a mistake then it’s always clear he missed it. And send them to the monitor. Make the audio broadcasted on tv and in the stadium. And fire the incompetent officials. Refs should not have mistakes when they have the ability to relook at every incident.
When they compare managers and players making mistakes in games, it’s a false equivalence. They get one chance in real time. Officials get replay and other sets of eyes.
@@Matthew-bu7fg don’t forget the Hair pull, cause “pulling hair isn’t against the laws of the game, because it’s not explicitly stated in violent conduct”…..
Yeah it's a nonsense statistic. They've combed through like every 50/50 really? And what about stuff Var can't intervene on, like wrong decisions for throw-ins and corners that officials often mess up on?
Its ok Simon and other pundits 'demanding improvements'... Newsflash! We've been using it for nearly 6 damn years now it SHOULD be near perfect now! If they can't get it right after 6yrs then they never will! GET RID
The fact that you can’t celebrate a goal properly without that doubt in your mind is the real killer. It’s the most joyous thing in football and it’s been taken away.
96% of the decisions right isn't near perfect?
Football is over 150 years old, 6 years of technology isn't enough to solve all the problems.
@@euganieldamiao8084 oh piss off with the stats, bottom line is that the game as a spectacle is far far worse with var. I preferred the refs making mistakes in real time rather than wait five minutes for them to make one, It needs binning it's made the game worse
@davewood1982 are you one of those "my truth people" who base every single thing in their life about feelings, instead of objective thinking. Facts are there are more being refereed right then wrong since the introduction of VAR and the speed on which it operates to deliberate the decisions is only going to increase with time not in 6 years.
You can't say that it's been worse with VAR because that would that they get everything wrong mostvof of the times they intervene, which if watch a random prem game and counf right vs wrong decisions in that game will totally drisprove that bad take.

If Forest would have come out with statement I can imagine us getting an awful amount of stick and pundits saying they are just playing the victim card after a series of bad decisions. I'm glad another team has decided to put this in motion rather than us
Forest didn’t complain when VAR didn’t give Huddersfield town two clear pens in the play off final did they
That's because most football fan's can see that Liverpool and Wolves have been stitched up royally by VAR p.s i support neither I'm just a football fan who can see the table for var and see who's been hard done by the most,
VAR wont be scrapped because it will soon be part of FIFA/UEFA rules, too much money to be made and deposited in Swiss accounts. Wolves know this, it is just a classier way of making a complaint about refereeing (unlike Forest) because they have had about 15 points taken from them.
I never celebrate goals anymore, VAR has ruined football for me, but like a lot things these days football is getting worse and there is nothing ordinary people can do about it.
Also think since VAR appeared, clearly someone is profiting a lot from all that circus and equipment that has nothing to do with football!!!
2:30 only here 5 years?? Bet the sales pitch didn’t say “will take 5-10 years to get it right”
Scrap it and put the soul back into football. All fans want it gone but I guess us plebs don’t matter
If Webb is saying human error is the issue. Whats the point of it. You had that when refs were making human errors. Scrap it. Goal line Tech and Semi automated offsieds should be the limit.
If you were naive enough to expect perfection, even within five years, then no wonder you feel so let down.
"What's the point of it" - To IMPROVE the number of correct decisions, which it is doing.
They need to break down the 82% right before VAR to now 96% with it. I'd be interested to know if something like the Antony Gordon missed penalty from last night was in the 4% of wrong calls, because if it is I don't believe the numbers.
Why wouldn't it be? Did you see the Crewe v Crawley match? Because of the ridiculous negativity of VAR both clubs didn't want it for the L2 play-off final. Yet it overturned a crucial penalty decision, that the ref naturally missed.
What is it with people who always think life was far better, with the 'old systems'??!!
@@banbrotam what is it with people using one terrible decision to highlight their argument?
Numbers matter and if they are saying it’s improved the decisions by that much, surely they need to tell us how they came up with that number considering decisions are subjective, hence why I used the Antony Gordon situation.
@@BennyEggs... Because there's no balance with fans like you. The fact you are suspicious of the fact, illustrates this. These figures have come from the PL - not some Luton's alleged No1 fan 🤣.
I mean in what way could it ever be worse than just one person's judgement? Just because they've been some howlers doesn't mean that they are any more than 4 in 100 - because we only hear the moaning when they are contentious.
Classic example is Arteta's hissy fit at Newcastle. He insisted that three were blatantly wrong when all three were fine, but two of them might have gone the other way with another ref. But that's your problem - along with the others you wrongly think it's job is to get rid of all contentious decisions. That's utterly impossible. The opinion on those three that Arteta was adamant were wrong - was 50/50!!
I find it embarrassing the way we moan about technology as footie fans. All other sports have got on with and they've all had initial issues.
@@banbrotam I'm perfectly balanced. You've spoken to me in a way that shows your lack of balance. I've not demanded that we abolish VAR, I've not ranted about fans like you, I've simply asked a question I feel needs an answer, which, and with all your ranting, you haven't answered.
96% correct but they mark their own homework. Its lower
Corruption is the issue. There are obvious calls we can make from our living rooms that VAR officials “miss”.
well said....... VAR should Only be used for Goal Line technology....... the VAR officials are completely corrupt & it has ruined the continuity of the game as we all sit around waiting for corrupt VAR officials to "figure out" how they can make it "Appear" above board as they blatantly fix matches
Such as.......?
LOL!! These threads provide so much comedy.
Var isnt the problem , the refreeing level is
It needs an ex manager, and ex player and a ref making the calls, and they need to speed it up.
Absolutely agree - the other major leagues in UEFA aren't THIS fekked up!
So switch it off until we have refs who can use it properly. If we carry on as we are now the whole process will be so discredited then it will have to be scrapped.
@@scifimonkey3 it won't. That's why "improvement" is a word in the dictionary.
Are you clueless
Over there does the ref announce to the crowd the results of the VAR decision? Over here in Portugal this season they have implemented it and you may not agree with the decision, but hearing EXACTLY WHY the decision was made is good. Example .. Player 5 mistimed challenge and kicked player 21 .. VAR decision penalty.
VAR doesn't add to the value of the game, but devalues it! I sadly agree with Simon the football clubs will not side with Wolves (the spectators of the game would though)
Which would show that the spectators are voting with hearts and not their heads. Great decision from the system in the L2 play-off final yesterday. Wrongly given penalty, but an easy error that lots of us would have made if we ref, overturned within one minute.
Yet, you want to get rid of that? Bonkers.
I’m sorry but English referees have to go, they get it right in all other countries but here, PGMOL is the problem
They don’t get it right in other countries, you just don’t hear about it as much. Have you seen some of the ridiculous decisions there has been in Italy and Spain for example? There was an offside against juventus that completely missed the fact there was a defender at the bottom of the screen playing everyone onside
That's the main problem. They're all shite!
He's a Leeds fan. They're not the sort to watch anything not English. @@Graziak5
You are talking rubbish. You clearly don't watch much football outside of England. Frank Leboeuf was on ESPN FC last night saying the referees and VAR in France are just as bad as the premier league referees, if not worse.
Facts, refs in England are 💩, they need proper training
I remember a pre-VAR time. Football media was also screaming and ranting about terrible decisions and offside goals and sending offs. Be careful what you wish for. I rather have more correct decisions.
I think they should keep offsides and goal line tech as for penalties and handball they should be onfield decisions in my book as they are to opinionated

96% of what decisions!? They don't review corners, throw ins, free kicks etc. Still getting those wrong that go onto influence goals.
96% of VAR reviewed decisions they need to say! It would be pretty EMBARRASSING if they didn't improve decision making with the technology available.
On field refs should decide when they want VAR assistance!
Why have VAR if it is not going to be used correctly. Newcastle should have had a penalty last night when Gordon was brought down. it was clear for all to see except those operating VAR.
VAR religious will come down on you!!!
It is such an easy fix it's absolutely bloody stupid that we are in this position.
The PGMOL should have absolutely nothing to do with VAR.
Create an Independent Team to run VAR and the vast majority of issues will disappear overnight.
The other two issue are we need to clear up the god awful rules surrounding Handballs and stop with calling people of side because a players dick happens to be over the line.
The rule used to be that there needed to be clear air between the defender and attacker, it's really bloody simple.
It's an absolute abomination for match going fans. For the last 45 years I have been buying a product that gives me joy, spontaneity, and a release of endorphins when the ball hits the net, a quick look at the linesman, then absolute limbs. Football is not a video game - if that's your bag fine, get a PlayStation. I hate it with a passion, to the point that I am considering not renewing my season ticket - It's just a different product. The crowd chants at Wolves games sum it up perfectly "this is not football anymore" and its spot on, they are killing the golden goose. This is not about accuracy, its about fundamentally changing the nature of the product. It's being sanitised our of existence for match going fans.
At LEAST we have to add options for managers to ask for incident to be checked. This can be easily done and would probably have improved the hit rate of obvious wrong calls down to 1 or 2% this season. It will also reduce the pressure on VAR on making calls IF the ref should be called to the monitor or not. If a manager askes for a review the ref will have to look at it. This can be done only 2-4 times per game so the big calls WILL get checked.
An incompetent worker will always blame their tools.
Video Assistance Technology is a blessing to football, those put in charge of using it, are either incompetent or corrupt or both.
They are the ones to be reviewed and held accountable.
Well said! And since the Only VAR decision that can be made w/ NO suspicion or subjectivity is Goal Line technology, moving forward, VAR should be Limited to Only Ball over the line: yes or no decisions....
Howard is clearly the problem with his strange statements and dismissal of taking accountability
They could do something like have 3 VAR officials per game that can't communicate with each other, then have them vote on the same decision. Removes some of the variance via consensus, and will mean one individual is not under all the scrutiny
Like cricket?
it would be an absolute embaressment for the Prem if this went through. Every other country seems to be able to use it to a semi decent amount. Refs just need to be more competent and display more authority.
VAR/Reffing should be 100% like rugby and tennis and most other sports!
VAR is not fit for purpose! It’s killing the game it’s slowing the game down and it’s taking the passion and jubilation of scoring a goal away because you have to wait to see if your goal actually counts. I’d be glad to see the back of it.
Why can’t football learn from other sports like rugby or cricket where the referees walkthrough it with the mic for the crowd to listen and go through it. And maybe add one captains challenge. I don’t understand why football is drowning in a teacup, other sports have done it before and have gone through the growing pains and now it works.
A lot less interpretation of the laws in those sports

If it's a vote, bin that thing.... It's hurrendous and is not improving officiating one but.
This is not just about "correct decisions". This is how the procedure is affecting football - slowing down the game, lengthening the extra time, causing reducing in pleasure of watching football game both on tv AND in the stadiums. And I think it's a great call from Wolves to get a proper discussion about VAR and how it can actually IMPROVE the game - not only about if a "correct decisions".
That point Simon had about the referee should Ref the pitch and call on the tech when he's unsure.... I've been saying that from day 1.
It's easy to fix VAR, just adopt the rugby protocol and make it more transparent and broadcast the audio.
rugby has natural stopping points whereas football more free flowing so any stoppages are felt more and rugby allows the time to make the call without undue pressure. But I do agree the broadcasting of decisions in the ground is needed. Listening back to VAR audio tapes - it sounds frantic. No calmness and I think that adds to bad decision making too. Added more variables to make bad decisions under pressure which VAR was supposed to reduced.
They'll never broadcast the audio in realtime because as we all heard from the Luiz Diaz incident early in the season, the communication is absolutely dreadful and extremely chaotic. I do agree they should try and get it closer to other sports ie - the referee and the VAR talk through what's being observed by them on the screen, using clear and communicative language. Talk through it together and let everyone hear it. But right now it's miles away from that. The communication between them is too chaotic. It needs more structure but above all else WE NEED COMPETENT REFEREES
I'm glad you're not in charge of fixing it then. You're bloody clueless if you think it's as simple as that.
I don’t mind the errors as much the waiting for 5-10 minutes per game sitting waiting
Honestly, all the noise over the upcoming vote is just drama. There is no chance whatsoever the PL will vote to remove VAR. It's a fairy tale. All this talk will come to nothing.
I agree 👍 VAR remains and has to improve, even if this means improvement takes place in another league or test location.
Even without VAR, then refereeing errors and incompidence still remains.
Give me a Championship game to watch any day over a Prem game. VAR is killing our ‘top flight’ league and anyone who supports VAR needs to give their heads a wobble.
The premier league should do what the MLS does with VAR. After a decision is made by VAR, the referee turns on a microphone and explains the decision. It doesn't make the decision making better, but it improves transparency.
The problem is ; we’ve gotten to the point where we don’t need referees anymore , VAR is deciding everything , looking at every move , penalties ,goals , handballs , free kicks , corners , yellow and red cards , offsides ,…….
VAR should be there for offsides and goal line technology .
Nothing else than that.
For those saying VAR "isn't the problem"
- We are seeing offside decisions being made from camera angles that don't seem to be level with play. Can they be trusted?
- We are seeing red card decisions being made when play is slowed down to 0.25 speed. Everything looks worse in 0.25 speed.
Before VAR we never had these problems.
That 84 to 96 percent figure is so misleading. The majority of decisions are subjective so even when VAR says decisions are correct, ex professionals are sating that they disagree
It's not misleading. Because ex-professionals opinions don't matter. Referee's do.
@@DC-zi6se the same referees that defended hair pulling and said its not violent conduct, only for Mike Dean to come out after retirement and admit he didn't want to send his pal to the monitor.... that hair pull that wasn't penalized is part of 96% correct decisions btw

They shove VAR onto teams that don't play with it every week so why can't clubs go into CL with it as a one off?

Agreed Simon.. Var should stay in the game .. no cheating goals would be given for example an offside goal .. var is there to prevent goals like those
For the first time I agree with Simon 💯. It is ridiculous to even consider going back to those dark days where referees can do what they want without accountability. Improve the referees and not the technology
Take offsides entirely out of VAR. Stokely Park should have independent referees that are NOT on field refs. Fully empower and instruct VAR to prosecute diving and simulation. Instruct and empower on field referees to disregard the super slow motion video on the monitor and stick with their initial calls in real time
Refs should review things on the big screen. If Stockley park don't have the balls to ask them to review tight decisions, give the manager or captain 3 reviews for each team per game.
The whole stop-start thing with VAR is a joke. The should get rid of it and lets supporters and fans enjoy football AGAIN!
It would be stupid to scrap VAR. It would be another Brexit move. If officiating is bad with VAR, there as an oversight system. How is getting rid of the oversight system going to improve refereeing. The only issue here is to improve VAR.
Remoaners are out in force f the eu
Because the refs are relying on VAR like a crutch and have stopped giving decisions on the field. Its resulted in a regression of the on field refereeing. And this whole thing about “VAR gets 96% right compared to 82% right”. Well that includes offsides, which is probably where the majority of errors come from. So if kept semi automated offside and binned the rest of it, that 82% would increase and we wouldn’t have to wait 7 minutes for them to still get it wrong on other decisions
VAR in principal is a good tool, the problem is in the people behind the monitor.
That audio of disallowed Diaz goal showed how incompetent they are.
The only who wasn’t the referee was the only raising the flag about a huge mistake!
Lamptey's shoulder hit should've been reviewed ...how can VAR not get that right???
No. You need var as the human eye cannot pick up every important detail. It’s not perfect but var is better than hundred per cent human judgement. Yes, improvements need to be continually looked at. And the statistics of accuracy vs pre var you reported confirm this 🙌🏻
Everyone knows Var in concept should make the game fair for all. However the amount of wrong decisions which have no accountability or compensation for clubs makes a mockery of Var.
Var seems to be used by officials to have more control over the outcome of games.
Wolves have had apologies for really poor decisions, the officials say sorry then say they will change things for future games & they do ... Thanks Wolves for helping us make Var better however no compensation will be given.
Compensate clubs for the wrong decisions & Var will definitely get used the way it is supposed to be used !
Who determines what calls are right? If it is the PGMOL, a neutral body should assess the calls. The PGMOL protects itself. Because based on calls I've seen in games it seems way less 80% correct. The refs seem biased. Maybe the Premier League should hire European VAR refs
VAR should stay.
Live audio & visual - Referee final decision - with live audio. Just like in Rugby.
Simon makes a lot of good points here. Tech should be bought in for everything possible: offsides, ball out of play, goal line tech etc - for everything else the decisions should made by referees and his assistants who should be better trained. If the ref needs to call for support from VAR then he should and there should be a set system for how this works that includes transparency so fans know what is happening. Regulations should be bought in to clamp down on dissent and retrospective punishment should be bought in for violent and dangerous play. This will empower the on-field ref in the same way as they are in rugby. There is zero point in having 1 subjective decision maker being replaced by another subjective decision maker.
Agree that it should stay but massively improve. It's in Europe so don't see how we can lose it at this point. At least offsides will be better next season.
Suspend VAR for a season, only have goal line technology and the new semi auto offside. Refs to be given more licence to referee what they see and not worry about subjective calls, air of the side of goals rather than cancelling goals.
Main problem with VAR is damaging the fan experience not knowing if you can celebrate a goal so unless it’s only used on very rare occasions on massive mistakes it should be scrapped
VAR is ruining the game every goal scored you hold your breath is it going to be disallowed, rule changes would help, off side is only when there is a clear gap between players and not a big toe. Hand ball rule should change it should hit the hand, players are defending with their arms behind there back, should go back to a deliberate HAND ball ball hits hand.
Surprising that Forest haven't been leading this discussion...
Consistency consistency consistency... the lack thereof. One week incident is a pen, next week not a pen, difference which clubs are involved.
Everyone wants drama nowadays, be social media infamous. VAR is like this. Running a 140yr game mage simple, the beautiful game gone bad. Premier league and UEFA are responsible for governing and keeping it simple.
Get it out. It is not needed. A goal should be a goal. Real release of emotions
Automated offside, whole goalline tech both good. But if the ref is uncertain (pens, bad fouls etc.) why not call on the 4th official to go to the screen and/or go there him/herself to determine final decision. What additional benefit does Stockley Park sub-committed engender? Maybe also set time limit for the "time-off' for a final decision, say 60-75 seconds.
Get rid of the drawing lines. If you can’t tell if it’s offside without drawing lines on the screen then it’s onside.
Guy who called in is me when i have to write another 900 words on an essay
Works in every other sport. Works in every other league/competition. But let’s throw a tantrum and get rid of it
Doesnt work in PL, trained chimps could operate it better - clear corruption
And then the very same people will complain when decisions keep going against there team!
How did that first caller get past the screener 😂
Each manager should have a var card in each half of they believe a decision contested they play a card
Sir Jordanite = Top LAD Proper Clobber ✊
VAR is a lot like Jim White; I don't want to see it scrapped but it has to improve.
Entertainment value diminished. Drama and emotion is what has made football the product it is. Not sterilise it through data and VAR.
I suggest it should be withheld for next season and see how things go. If things are better then we will continue without it but if not then will need to improve on it and reintroduce it
As I sent during the show, for S&G's I want to see comparable data from the Bundesliga, Seria A, La Liga, Ligue 1.
Only decisions that matter are important decisions
I do not watch football anymore, but i just saw newcastle last night at old trafford denied a penalty, when it was 100% a penalty
How do these people that use var to correct important decisions justify denying newcastle a chance to get a goal at old trafford, that may of got them a point?
Like the newcastle player said after the game, what is the point of this var, if teams are not givewn penalties when its a 100% penalty that the referee missed?
In 1990s someone did a study on alex fergusons man utd, and found that 87% of all decisions involving man utd under fergie, that could go either way, went to man utd. 87% of decisions that were 50-50 went to man utd.
Surely var was supposed to fix such things, so how come last night newcastle had a 100% obvious penalty that was denied them at old trafford?
What the heck was var doing to deny such an obvious penalty that everyone looking at it surely knew it was a penalty on the replay of it.
Var was brought in to stop bias, or mistakes by refs, so what is the point of it if teams like man utd can get away with having a penalty given away at old trafford, when a team they are playing wants points?
