For all we know, humans have been making resolutions for at least 4,000 years. Near the end of the year, you feel inspired to make a resolution or two. Take steps to improve your life. But you know from past experiences that you’re not great at keeping New Year’s resolutions. Most people aren’t.
In fact, 90% of New Year’s resolutions are abandoned in the first three months. It makes you wonder: is there a reliable way to keep our resolutions, or is this annual concept of a fresh start unsound to begin with?

My New Resolution Aint Failing, But Instead I Am Dying. I Study Every Single Day To Become A Doctor But I Do Not Want To Become A Doctor. I Want To Become Someone Who Will Be Known For His Impact He Created In The World But I Do Not Know What To Do. I Tried To Break Free From All Of That. But Nothing Ever Changed. Instead The Guilt Of Doing Something Bigger Getting More Stressful.

Be a president. 100 years over your death nobody will rememeber you except few historians. Chill. Do your things, chill.

Then create. Something new. Be a pioneer. Write books. Build something that will outlast you. This is what some of my favourite philosophers answered when posed with a similar problem like yours.

@@MuazzamSheraz A short essay called 'The Wisdom of Life' by Arthur Schopenhauer. And the book The Gay Science by Nietzsche, although not an easy read.

In my experience, I've always got things done in the years that began with NO RESOLUTION 😄

Since 2018, I've abandoned a single big resolution, and built hierarchical systems of daily micro-resolutions, weekly mini-resolutions, monthly macro-resolutions, and an annual super-resolution. It's served me really well so far, and I will continue to do this so long as I am of sound mind and body.

My "resolution" this year, I suppose, is to work more towards my goals in my speedrunning journey, specifically in my main game. I'm not making it "I'm going to reach it this year", but rather "I will be trying my best to get close to it as possible". Whether I manage to reach the tip top echelon this year or not (2nd in RTA, Top 10 average finish in time trials, etc.), I'll know that I have made progress, and that I will reach this goal if I keep at it. Resolutions are all a mentality thing for sure haha

I think you should start with small things.
Don't add too much on your lists if you're still not done with the rest of your goals. That will just make you more desperate and less motivated to complete the rest of the list.
For example, I decided to get into meditation, especially because it's very beneficial.
So instead of doing 30 or 40 minutes in the very first day, I tried to go for 3-5 minutes.
Second day 10 min, third day 15-20 min ... and so on. Once you're confortable it's only about maintaining that habit.
I also set a specific schedule to do this. In my case, before going to sleep in order to get better rest.

I don't do Resolutions anymore. Tried it once, failed. Tried it twice, failed again. I can't keep promises for too long.

New Year's resolutions often fail when our hearts aren't fully committed, even if our minds desire change. To boost success, set realistic goals, break them into smaller steps, and maintain a positive mindset. Seek support from friends or family, as small, sustainable changes lead to long-term happiness.

New years resolution fails because most people have terrible habits and habits are harder to break than some addiction. You need to do them now. There is really no waiting.
