Finally. A well-detailed, structured and clear video of a whole process. That's what I've been looking for. Thanks a lot!
This is exactly what I was looking for, just need to get inside to remove the dust from the fan and heat sink. Thankyou.
Thanks for the detailed and narrated video, RESPECT!
It works fine following your video.
Thank you !
Really helpful, thank you
great video mate 🙌
Thanks. :)
thanks for making this
Thank you for the video. I need to know which cable is for webcam. My webcam is not working that is why I dissambled the laptop but could not find it. Can you please help me? Thanks
The camera cable is in one with the LCD cable. They have one connector on the board, and they split behind the screen. I doubt the cable is the problem. Test with different camera if you can find.
@@LaptopDisassembly thank you for the answer. The problem is socket of webcam inside the screen was out. I dissambled screen and find it out. Thanks :)
The connector for the upper lights is on a separate cable, did you plug it correctly.
Hello, i have a question. (sry for my bad english i'm from germany) Is it important to also open the ram, so its possible to open the laptop with the keyboard without open the ram? I can't open the ram, because the screws from that are broken
Yes you can open the laptop without opening the ram cover. There is no screw under it so you can open it but you have to remove the rest of the screws.
@@LaptopDisassembly Allright, thank you. I have a another question. I'm a really beginner in this stuff, it is possible for a beginner, who never build a pc or cleaned a laptop, to renewe the thermal paste, clean the laptop and so on? I bought already thermal paste, the tools i have too. I will do this in a few weeks or days. I'm afraid of breaking something or not knowing which parts will be put back together. Can you give me some tips? How difficult is this?
// EDIT: My toshiba laptop is maybe 8 years old, and its never cleaned. It has high temperatures and sometimes CPU full utilization. I will clean the laptop, renew the thermal paste and reinstall Windows 7. (maybe i install there win 10, i don't know actually)
Well, if you havent open a laptop till now it will be little frustrating at the biggining. This model of toshiba is not the best to begin with, but you have to start some how. Dont worry just folow the video and make the things step by step. A tip from me:
1. Buy a good thermal paste like Arctic mx-2 or mx-4.
2. When you disassemble the laptop separate the screws ( all the screws on the back cover on oneside, the ones under the keyboard on other, the ones from the board on third... Etc. ) this way when you reassemble it it will be easy and you will not mess up the screws. I have a small pill box with small compartment for the job.
3. Get some sord of paper type or else. It will help you keep the cables steady when you reassemble the laptop.
Also you can watch the video on the reverse if you have any problems.
@@LaptopDisassembly Thanks so much. A good thermal paste I already bought. Is the sort of paper type for the motherboard, also for the thing, where the CPU is, what I saw in the video? I have already the "paper", its from a printer, its not normal paper, i can't describe it, but it's soft enough. How can I then remove the old thermal paste? It is working with disinfectant? I heard that you can use alcohol and put little bit alcohol on a paper, to remove the old thermal, but I have it not at home. Is Vodka working too? xD I have only Vodka and disinfectant at home.
@@fearless6202Yes you can use Vodka or some other alcohol. If the old thermal paste is very harden use something plastic to scratch it ... don't use metal thing because you will damage the cooler. Put little vodka on a toilet paper and clean the cooler and the cpu crystal. Don't use regular paper... use a soft one.
I have a600-16m model, what is the thermopad thickness on the gpu power section and frame?
Well i havent replace them, but you can use 1mm thick.
I doubt the fault is the dust. Try to reconnect the RAM and clean the RAM contact pins.
Merci encore
Amicalement
@@jl5897 Glad the laptop is working. But is a good idea to replace the thermal paste also. If the one you have now is still in " liquid " form will do the job. The old one will be like rock, so in any case it will be better to replace it.
Merci
@@jl5897 I usually use Acrtic MX-4 which is also like gray putty.
Do you refurbish the Toshiba A660? My fan plug was tostered and broke into pieces. I got a new fan but I can't used the plug. There was so much dust blocking the air ways, basically nothing being cooled. Can you check out my computer and install a new fan. Computer works great just the fan stopped. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you. Mike
You should find a local service so they can change the fan and fix the fan connector. We are probably in different countries, no i cannot help you. It is not that hard, just find a computer service shop near you.
The screws on mine are ridiculously rigid and almost impossible to move any advise?
Use little bigger screwdriver and push harder. The other way is to drill the heads..
Yanko Goshev im using what i can find anyways thank you i may try drilling
The screw bosses around the Toshiba A660 series hinges are weak and break easily during disassembly, especially as the plastic ages.
With the time and from the heat the plastic becomes very fragile that the s why. Also from time to time the screws have to be tighten.
Sorry for my bad english, I have the same equip than yours but my board was crashed. I know it have two type of boards, can I put the other one? Or its incompatible? Thx
If all the ports are on the same place, i think you can swap them.
Great video thanks
Core antha
You should have gone through and done the cleaning too, would have been helpful, maybe next time.
thx👍
Hi! Nice video!
Just wanted to ask you, how does this laptop work with that Samsung SSD?
I would like to give my own satellite A660 a new life.
Thanks!
I guess you will install a regular ssd. All depend on the cpu and ram, but the laptop will be much faster.
@@LaptopDisassembly Ok, thank you!
Mine has the i5 and 4GB ram. I think I'll try it.
Thanks again!
It will do the job.
