Thank you so much Jake for this phenomenal video and your genuine enthusiasm shines through and you manage to capture the true spirit of this wonderful new distillery. Such a stunningly beautiful interior design. I cannot wait to visit it, hopefully please G-d sometime next year and sample the new make. I was thinking, it is only recently with the latest in whisky technology that we are able to accurately recreate a long lost whisky. Had it been rebuilt earlier we probably would have ended up with an inferior product. Thank you again for bringing us this piece of pure UA-cam pleasure and well done to Gordon Dundas so showing us around.
Love the video, top notch production values!! I was at the distillery some weeks before opening, so did not get to go inside, but it was a stunning building to walk around.
thank you, we really appreciate the support and we're delighted you're enjoying the content. it certainly is but if you have a chance to go back for a tour I can highly recommend it as there's nothing like experiencing this all for yourself!
Fascinating insight into this wonderful distillery. Thanks so much for pulling this together, Jake! What a great watch! I can't wait to try their inaugural release!
you're so welcome James, it's such a pleasure to be in a position to bring these tour videos to you all. you've got a while to wait for their whisky, but I'd highly recommend trying their clearic if you can get your hands on it - truly exceptional. sláinte pal
A few years ago I stayed in the hotel across the road and was saddened to see the condition of the old distillery. To see it back is excellent news. Pity we have to wait so long for the new spirit to become whisky!
in my opinion Dave; the longer we wait, the better! Rosebank is such a unique style of spirit and I personally believe that it needs to be at least 12Y/O to achieve the beginnings of its greatness in the cask. stay tuned though as there is lots to come from this Lowland gem. and the tours with samples are a great placeholder at very reasonable prices in the meantime! sláinte
Just come across this channel and have to say from the few videos I’ve watched I will continue to keep watching great insight to the world of whisky keep up this great content.
thanks Brendan, we really appreciate the support! if you keep liking and engaging with us we'll keep pumping out the whisky based content my friend. sláinte
I can highly recommend the trip; the experience is unlike any other. thanks for tuning in and supporting the channel Ben - you have Stevie to thank for the production quality
Seemingly United distillers (now diageo) had the choice to shut down glenkinchie or rosebank. They chose rosebank and now the bell that’s rang at the start of the tour at glenkinchie is from rosebank.
I didn't know that second fact - nice one Rhys! we can always rely on our incredible community to bring another layer of whisky knowledge to the table. sláinte pal
Encore! What a fine film! A great display of human character and the spirit of Scotland, and done with such tasteful execution. The play on light, shadows & silhouettes are so beautiful. The backdrops are lively and well framed, and flow from one shot to the other almost as if from the eyes of an angel hovering around the distillery collecting their share. The videography drew me in so thoroughly I found myself leaning towards the tv trying to peak around the barrels as they shifted out of sight. This is truly a piece of art that Stevie should be proud of forever.
amazing, that's exactly our aim! be sure to say hi to the team from us and I'd highly recommend filling your boots with the new make as it goes down far too easily
Very interesting look around this re-born distillery. Wish I could afford the 30+ aged bottles so will have to hope the wait for the new whisky is only 7-8 years away.
wow, what a compliment. thank you for commenting and supporting the channel - I'll be sure to pass this over to Stevie as he's the man responsible for it all
What a great video! Just one small point - Rosebank was closed in 1993 by United Distillers, who owned Rosebank then. Diageo wasn't formed until late 1997.
you're absolutely correct Ernst - I stumbled over a different intro with this fact a few times and ended up removing it for simplicity. but good spot and fair play for keeping us honest. glad you enjoyed this one!
@@lordprefab5534 Actually, a very different company. Diageo included Grand Metropolitan (with a turnover of £12 bn) whereas UD had no involvement with Grand Met.
At 17:50 he say that worm tubs add a meaty sulphur'y character, I thought that the more the newmake was exposed to copper (which is what worm tub condensing does), the less sulphur'y taste....???
so worm-tub condensers minimise copper contact compared to shell and tube condensers due to the surface area of copper. Rosebank doesn't retain sulphur notes but it does have an immense body for clearic
A worm tub condenser has much much less copper contact, side by side, Shell and Tube condensers contain dozens if not hundreds of copper tubes that will have spirit running through all of them, a Worm Tub will only contain one single copper tube.
Hopefully we can have the opportunity to start buying bottles at reasonable prices for the true whiskey consumer. Right now anything on the market is hundreds of dollars, completely out of the price range
it will be a while before you can try whisky at reasonable prices, but their new make spirit is genuinely incredible and well worth the value. I can highly recommend trying to get your hands on some
