  • PADI IDC Skills need to be performed during the PADI IDC Course and you have to catch Problems and then give the right solution to that problem. The PADI IDC Skills are evaluated during the PADI IDC confined water presentations by the PADI Course Director and during the PADI IE by an Examiner. Watch this video to get a full score of a 5.0 on all.
What kind of problems can happen or be assigned during the PADI IDC Course and what kind of solutions to those problems can we offer? Use the chapters below for easy navigation.

To become a PADI Diving Instructor your need to complete the IDC Course, followed by the PADI IE Exam. During the IDC you need to play the role of Dive Instructor during Confined Water and Open Water Presentations. During these presentations you need to evaluate PADI IDC Skills and correct any occurring Problems and give the right Solutions for the IDC Skills.
A PADI Examiner will assign some of these problems and will evaluate the IDC Candidate on how he or she is correcting these problems. The IDC Candidate is scored on 5 criteria:
    Briefing
    Demonstration Criteria
    Problem Solving Criteria
    Control and Delivery Criteria
    Debriefing Criteria
    III. PROBLEM SOLVING CRITERIA
    1. Diver(s) could have been injured.
    2. Missed problem or responded incorrectly.
    3. Slow to respond.
    4. Responded correctly but no clear emphasis of the proper technique.
    5. Responded correctly and emphasized proper technique with additional communication after problems.
In this PADI IDC Skills Problems and Solutions video, we focus on the Problem Solving Criteria part. We selected the most common scuba diving skill problems assigned in the IDC and IE and show you in this IDC Skills video how to recognise them and how to correct them correctly to get the highest score on your Problem Solving Criteria part.
Here are a few tips to make your PADI IDC Skills better:
    1. Be relaxed
    2. It all about organisation
    3. Look everywhere
    4. Have beautiful hand signals (Check this video here: • Scuba Diving Hand Sign... )
    5. React friendly

I subscribed to your channel primarily because your unspoken, calm motioning skills are excellent and I would like to mimic your mastery of underwater communication. One criticism I would like to make, however, is that your titles pass by much too quickly to read. I keep having to rewind to pause the video and read for every skill.
Thank you for doing what you do!

From start right up to rebreather, all your own equipment new, exams , insurance, servicing, in fact absolutely everything, how much do you think the cost would be I’m very curious. Has anyone ever added up how much they have spent.

      @MarcelVanDenBerg1  3 роки тому

      Hi Janetto,
How much it will be depends and many different factors. You can send me an email to:
info@idckohtaothailand.com and I can give you a price from Open Water Diver to Diving Instructor (MSDT).
Not rebreather as I don't teach that. But I can get you in contact with some of the best rebreather instructors.

HI Marcel, question please: i see some skills where the student does not acomplish the requirement and the instructor corrects him during the exercise, allowing him to continue instead of repeating, succefully acompkishing the exercise. When do you have to ask him to repeat all the exercise to acomplish the requirement and when can you aloow him to continue without having to go to the start ? tks, BR, Antonio

    • @MarcelVanDenBerg1
      @MarcelVanDenBerg1  4 роки тому +4

-Hi Antonio, To repeat the skill after a problem or not has been one of the hardest choices to make for IDC and IE candidates as they can face a 1 score if they make the wrong choice. In real life, it means the difference between breaking PADI Standards or not.
I take PADI standards very seriously, so it is important to know the difference.
To know if you should repeat a skill or not. Depends on the question: Did the student met the performance requirement while Mastering the Skill?
What is Mastery of a Diving Skill?
According to the PADI Instructor Manual under General Standards and Procedures, Mastery means:
      "PADI courses/programs are performance-based. Certification
signifies that the student demonstrated mastery of all course
      knowledge and skill performance requirements.
During knowledge development, mastery is defined as
meeting Knowledge Assessment requirements listed under
      Administrative Procedures.
During confined and open water dives, mastery is defined
as performing the skill so it meets the stated performance
requirements in a reasonably comfortable, fluid, repeatable
manner as would be expected of a diver at that certification level.
Example of a Mask removal and Replacement Skill:
The Objective/Performance Requirement is for the PADI Mask Removal and Replacement Skill from the PADI Instructor Manual is: Remove, replace, and clear a mask.
      Here are 3 scenarios:
      Scenario 1:
      Perfect skill (No repeat):
Your student takes off the mask, holds it for a few seconds, and then calmly puts it back on the face. After a few breaths into the mouth, the student clears the mask easily out of their noses while slightly looking up. Perfect performance, all PADI standards have been met including mastery. This student is ready for the next skill.
      Scenario 2 (Repeat the skill):
Defiantly not a perfect scenario, but the diving student does kinda meet the performance requirement, but not the PADI Mastery:
So if someone is very scarred, takes off the mask shaking, kinda drops the mask, but doesn't panic... Finds the mask puts half upside down on the face, but does NOT panic, kinda get's it under control and puts it back on and clears it from water... But didn't bold and stay under the water, then technically they met the performance requirement: Remove, replace and clear a mask from the Instructor Manual, but they DIDN'T met the mastery requirement from the PADI Standards and Producers, so in this case, they need to repeat the skill.
Scenario 3: (Defiantly Repeat the skill):
The scuba diving student, was very scared and could not do the skill at all, or maybe took off the mask and then dropped I and went to the surface, or maybe took it off and breathe in water through the nose and panicked, etc. so many more no completion or mastery of the skill. In all these cases you need to repeat the skill for mastery according to the PADI Standards.
      -----------
I hope this makes a bit more sense, but I do understand that if you are doing the PADI IDC Course, you might think: Uhmm... This is all good and well but still seems a bit of a grey area to me and I don't want to get a 1 score and fail my IE... What do I do?
Well in the worst-case scenario and you don't know what to do, then just repeat the skill. You can repeat as many time you think is important for mastery :)
I hope this helped and please let me know if you have any more questions, Antonio?
