- This video is an introductory discussion on the IFA-Orisha tradition of the Yoruba people of South West Nigeria which we affectionately call Yoruba Land. Awo Ifayemi is a tradition Priest initiated and trained in Nigeria. He has been a High Priest for over 23 years. He shares his experience with us where he discusses the basic information about this beautiful and ancient tradition. He touches on initiation, ethics, sacrifice, offerings, and destiny. He also shares how Ifa has helped him and he, in turn, as a priest has helped many turn life situations into triumphs and illness into good health. This is amazing, I have recently been told by a priestess queen 👑 that my ancestors choose me to serve, my father was also a king but he wasn't aware of his gift sadly he died , so inherited from him & great ancestors, my spiritual eyes was closed by someone so close to me someone you don't expect to hurt me as a child it's sad still digesting people are evil they knew of my gift it was a threat to there evil ways but it was a temporary fix today I know everything who iam & all this time ancestors never left me my angel is always by my side that's how I know iam a king iam waiting to be cleaned completely in order for my ancestors to come to me & start knowing learning there ways can't wait iam excited I wish the priestess working with me was me near me but can't wait to complete being cleansed it's a good feeling to start communicating with them

What is the average fee for readings and also ebo. I have heard some charge $500 to $1500 depending on which ebo needs to be done after a reading if need be
In my personal opinion the cost for divination should be one cost. The cost of the ebo should be stated as a stand alone fee. The two should not be combined.
That being said I personally have not paid more than $75 for divination from a Babalawo in my 30+ years as a devotee.
Costs for ebos vary depending on who is doing the work. If an ebo price goes into 4 digits and above and it does not include receiving an Orisha, receiving the Hand of IFA, or getting crowned then I would pause and get a second opinion.
Although there are no set prices in this tradition, there are price ranges that should be similar across the traditions of both Lucumi and Isese. Most priests know what is involved in the work of a specific ebo and what is a reasonable fee.

Is it true women can't read the odu?
That is not true. Women can read Odu. Women’s official title as a Priestess of IFA is Iyanifa. You must be able read the Odu to be a
Priestess of IFA. What you may be referring to is there is a part in the ceremony of initiation to becoming a High Priest/ess of IFA where the male is required to look upon Odu. Women are not required and cannot do this part because women already have what this part of the ceremony gives to men to make them able to become an IFA priest.

@@step2mylou you’re very welcome! Thanks for pointing it out. Next time I will ensure clarity on this. It’s very important. Also, I want to mention that in the Cuban Lucumi line of the IFA tradition women are not allowed to become an IFA priestess, in my opinion, because of their interpretation of what I mentioned. I hope this changes. It is only in the original ancient Yoruba Isheshe (pr. - eeshay-shay) in Nigeria that woman become Priestesses of IFA.
What's your intake on Caucasian Ifa Priest?
This is a hot topic and will always be. I will simply say that this is an ancestral tradition. If you don’t have the ancestry…🤷🏿♀️ my personal opinion. Others feel differently.

Initiation to priesthood and doing an ebo (spiritual work for specific issues) are different. Baba is speaking about ebo at that point in the video. Initiation is an intricate process that takes many steps, several days and also a number of other priests and so much more. If you are new to this tradition, priesthood initiation maybe a premature step for you.
Yes in order to be initiated and receive the tools you need after initiation that is a reasonable price, I myself was initiated in Oshogbo. If you are interested in the practice understand that it is real and price should not be an issue. If you can’t afford it start with your hand of Ifa
