as somebody who has played hearthstone and magic, although admittedly i haven't played hearthstone in a while, i prefer magic but damn the intro music for hearthstone is so comfy
I love MTGA, i'm a former Hearthstone player and i'll tell you a few things why I love it over Paystone. 1. I love the Art work, its very Detailed. 2. its a very easy game to understand, you get free packs of cards that'll help you on your way unlike Hearthstone where you get to a POINT in later part of the games where you need to DUST cards and might have to pay for packs real money. 3. there's so many cards that'll make a deck to winning in all kinds of ways unlike Hearthstone where theres two ways. 4. MTGA isn't a pay to win game, yes you can pay with real money but the game is MORE fair to the players unlike hearthstone.

MTG Arena has so much more depth to it, which is assumed since it's Magic, but Hearthstone is definitely better if you are just looking for something simple to play.
in terms of core game mechanics or "keywords" if you will, MTG is like 20 years ahead of HS. No contest. Discover, Magnetic, Charge, Poisonous being so widely available turned the game into a slot machine. You draw the card and you win the game and there are 2 things your opponent can do about it: 1- Nothing 2- Enjoy it. But in terms of being new player friendly, MTG is just horrible. I just started yesterday after Blizzard's recent fuckups and no changes over the horizon for pack prices. I got lost in the main menu for over 3 hours before figuring out i had to farm xp against the advisor thing. Deck building is far more complicated than any other games and there are no tools to help you out with this other than occasional neckbeard videos who uses terminology like they wanna slap you in the face with their "superiority" Therefore MTG will never be able to surpass HS in this market due to being ridiculously overcomplicated and being extremely difficult to learn the game. The current player base will carry it out to a point, but after that generation, its all over for them. They seriously need to reconsider the new player experience and tutorials if they want to make more money.
I played hearthstone for a while, and imo Magic is the better game, one reason is with the choice to or not to attack or defend gives u a chance to build & complete ur planned strategy as u continue the game without ur opponent easily destroying ur creature early on the game if you have a bad draw at the start. I think this reason alone gives magic an edge on other card games out there. Magic is more of a chess game rather than a checker game.
HS is solid, but if you have played MTGA you will notice that MTGA is by far the better card game and has always been. not saying HS is bad but it just hasnt evolved enough over all this time
i think it really depends how much knowledge of playing tcgs in general you have and what your personal approach is. both games are/can be very fun, but i see hearthsstone as the more beginner friendly/casual game, where RNG can give u much fun while playing but often is a pain in the ass, if you like competetive gaming. mtg on the other hand seems more tough to get into, forcing to stay focussed at any time/phase in the game. very reactive and way more skill is requested compared to HS (even though mana flood/weaving sucks hard). /edit: my opinion is based on playing mtg since 2003, playing competetive ygo for many years competetively(magic as well and still active) and HS since open beta
Sure both have their ups and downs! My view is from someone who got tired of HS rng and wants to see more card games competing with HS, because competition is positive, even in order for HS to keep being improved.
Hearthstone is a much better game on PC, iPad and iPhone etc. It's not just the presentation: You can tech in cards that have a dramatic impact. MTG decks feel bland by comparison. In Hearthstone, it's possible for some very unusual things to happen. For example, in Hearthstone you have cards that can give you random spells. There's nothing like that at all in MTG or Gwent.
The problem with MTG is that WOTC have a long history of screwing online customers over: It's now the 6th online MTG programe. Each version gets abandoned in preference for the new version. This is a very big deal if you've bought all the cards! To make matters worse, if you want to collect cards you're super screwed over because your chances of getting a rare card diminish the more cards you get! So you're forced to buy a lot of shit cards. In addition, MTG isn't nearly as good as you're making out: The problem with it are the 'lands' - half your deck is lands! Therefore, every MTG deck ends up with a very similar number of cards to HS. However, each game of MTG takes much longer to play. If you're playing with a procrastinator, God help you.
@@magzimagz I'm not interested in arena formats because I like to create my own decks. I don't think people who play arena want to keep playing arena - they want to craft decks. This is the MTG business model.
@@morsmagne So basically you never played Magic Arena, because you know? Arena is not the format, but the name of the game client. Most of the events on Magic Arena require a constructed deck, the "Arena HS" type of events are called as DRAFT.
@@Greymane93 No thanks - Hearthstone is very expensive (£750 per year for all the cards) and Magic is even more expensive! If you go down that rabbit hole far enough, you'll be paying about £1000 for each competative deck! It's a good way to get poor quickly. In fact, MTG could be comparable to drinking or smoking if you have an average salary or less
Yet tes legends whipes the floor with both magic in general is dead for me since we reached a point again where creature decks are irrelevant compared to sorcery instant decks
that just proves you hadn't play MTGA, you are talking out of your ass ;) I can destroy any Sorcery instant decks with my creatures, it beats the hell out of tes legends, Hearthstone and Artifact Combined.

I just started playing the open beta, it's a nice game.

Mtg arena is better.
Whoa hold on there, IN MY OPINION.
mtg has been THE card game to play for over 30 years no wonder its better than hearth.
*25 years

bruh i can search lands, creatures, planeswalkers, spells, my graveyard. I can search the world in mtg arena.
The possible combinations of collors of mtg are sweet as well
In MTG you play the game, in Hearthstone the game plays you.

I love the defensive nature of magic the gathering
Brazilian accent!! Great video!
Try legend of runeterra.
Plenty of good decks are 3 colors
IMO, there is more "play" to hearthstone. Magic gets bogged down in complexity.
Heartstone = 10 to 17 (years old)
MTG arena = 18 +
How about mtga vs eternal ccg
Mtg arena is really fun but it's pay to win and that what I don't like about it and that why I'm intend to move to hearthstone
Yu gi oh duel links ftw

How's TESL going? I've heard the game was passed to another studio and will receive a graphics overhaul.
its rly rly good rly made me delete mtg and i was a super fanboi before
Hmm, I should take a second look!

U are not counter attacking in mtg u simply blocking...
Well said, maybe I should have used "defense oriented".
