I always hate the rat race in the league community to compare everything about a new champ to old champs. It's impossible with the roster to make an entirely unique champ. Briar is Darius bleed, sion, vex, talon, and Warwick. Or briar is briar.
Take a look at the mobile game mobas and you will see there is so much more of uniqueness

I'm 100% sure his Q was gonna be used for Riven rework, because at that time they talked a lot about reworking riven, but realized Riven has a very dedicated fan base that won't accept clunky ass garbage design that infests league today. for fuck sake, have you played pantheon? he stuns and slows himself more than anyone else. all his spells stun lock and slow himself. it's TRASH. Major Riot employees left the company to create their own games, all that's left is a bunch of out of touch people who chase paychecks. The passionate people left league years ago. to create their own games. the match making is a pile of trash on fire for years now.
