This was Root's sixth double ton in the longest format of the game and with this, he equals the record of legendary batters Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Virender Sehwag.
Joe Root received a stroke of luck on Thursday morning in Multan when Babar Azam dropped him on 186, denying Naseem Shah an early breakthrough. Root capitalized on this opportunity and went on to reach the impressive milestone, marking his second major achievement in the Test against Pakistan.

Perhaps Virat won't prematurely retire from international cricket because he has probably shifted to London (I don't know if he has shifted or not) but it is very hard to imagine he would have no problems in travelling from/to London for every series for 2 more years. I hope whereas he lives, he plays at least for 2 more years till age of 38 and plays against spinners exactly the way he did in 2nd innings vs Bangladesh in tests.
