I have been living in a western country for many years now, but I still wear saree to my office parties and to any formal event that I am invited including the cinema and opera house.

You have either misconstrued me or on a collision course. I only stated my preferences. I wear saree, because it becomes me and I am comfortable in it. I have attended many public events in my saree, and received appreciation and compliments.
I was in a shopping centre in Frankfurt, Germany and wss wearing a saree. The ladies who were there came over and admired my attire and I explained to them how it is worn. My friend though indian was in a dress, and after seeing the compliments I received she decided to wear saree.
Likewise in Auckland my sister and I bought some sunglasses. The assistant told us that we have to go into the shop to collect our cases, my sister who was in jeans had to go and collect hers but for me the shop assistant said "you wait here ,I will get your case.
After the 9/11 bombings, I was treated with deference at the airports and restaurants in San Francisco, and Los Angeles, because of my saree and bindi.
      The saree attracts respect.
      It is my choice.

And we don’t eat with their hands!! BUT, when it comes to chicken, spare ribs and a few other food they use their hands . And we joke when we see someone eating chicken with their hands. We tell them that with girls and chicken they should “use” their hands!!! 😂😂

There are two types of people who need to change their mindset. 1st one are the people like the girl in this video who was completely into modernizing her mom and bot allowing her to be free. And 2nd type are the ones who judge girls wearing jeans and western outfits and in some houses the people don't allow their daughters in law and daughters to wear jeans. In both cases, the person must have a choice of their own. Let them wear whatever they like, provided they are modest.

Honestly, I see nothing wrong in learning something from our children.
My mother was very proud of the fact that I taught her how to filet a salmon after returning from France and she always tells me all it takes is an open mind to learn new things.
