  • My son and I decided to build a desk PC - literally a computer built inside a desk. He is really happy with the final result and upgrades are a breeze. It's a completely modular design inside to allow for quick and easy system component upgrades.
    UPDATE - I've started a website that I'm using to journal this project, lessons learned, and outline all of the steps and considerations in building a DIY Desk PC. The website is www.diydeskpc.com

    This young man will never forget that project the two of you built together. He might not realize it right now. But in time he'll realize how blessed he was to have you as his father. As you have also been blessed to have the son you have to share your life with.

    This seemed really nice but whats up with the water? Neither the cpu or gpu are connected to that loop. Is it completely aesthetic?

    • @pbro
      @pbro  5 років тому +7

      It’s a work in progress- we built this at a time when GPU prices required selling a kidney. I wanted to finish the loop (CPU and GPU) at the same time but wasn’t going to bother water cooling the 1060 on there because it’s just a placeholder until we get a 1080. Now that prices are stabilizing we will be finishing the loop. My son wanted it hooked up because the UV reactive green fluid compliments his biohazard theme in the build. More videos to come as we progress through this project. Thank you for taking the time to watch the video and ask this. Appreciate you!

    Am I crazy or are the water cooling components going nowhere? Gpu isn't water cooled and It looks like the cpu looks like it has a stock ryzen cooler.

    • @pbro
      @pbro  5 років тому +3

      Nope you are dead on. We’re doing custom water blocks but my son wanted me to go ahead and hook up the water loop so that he would have the UV reactivate green fluid in the reservoirs to complement the biohazard theme he has going. I’ll be posting an update once we finish the CPU and GPU blocks. We’re doing something really different.

      No No Lian Li makes a prebuilt desk PC case but they run about two grand. I just couldn’t do that, hence a DIY build :)

    btw, how do you guys make sure the temperature is good enough?

    • @pbro
      @pbro  5 років тому +4

      Mas Umar we use CPU core software to monitor the CPU temperatures. We also have a vintage analog thermometer in the case to measure ambient temps. We have put this thing through the paces without any heating concerns. We have seven fans pushing filtered air in and two pulling it out and it’s working fantastic.

    • @Maskinmester-DK
      @Maskinmester-DK 5 років тому +1

      @@UmarRosyad What are you talking about? it's called air-cooled, as water-cooled pc also has fans. And so what if it's only air-cooled now if they don't overclock it will never be a problem.
