Love how the lore of this show is so complex largely due to the influence of so many different writers having slightly different interpretations of certain aspects.
note about the cybermen, the word 'menn' did once used to refer to 'a human' or 'group of humans' at one point, with the gender specific term being 'where', hence wherewolf or werewolf as it is now commonly written.
It’s worth noting that there *is* one Dalek who is referred to as she/her: the Dalek Supreme from the Dalek Empire III audio series. Although she is a *very* unique Dalek.
I have a head cannon that the flashing lights is a form of mores code, flashing in milliseconds, indistinguishable from the usual longer flashes (so they can still communicate in the vacuum of space)
I know you channel is “bumps” and typically short form, but I hope you keep up with the more long form stuff - Ive setup auto playlists of your stuff just to keep it going before, so a proper long form video is very welcome
Love the use of Halo 2's Peril... I would have thought daleks have a philosophy of an angry 12 year old on such a game but there's often more to them than meets the eye
My assumption on planet of the Daleks is that the design was likely done by natives to spiridon and the Daleks co opted the location, turning the inside functional but leaving the outside as it was
I just wish Daleks would be brought back by Disney and expand DALEK society, philosophy and culture so many of Daleks mysteries could be solved and all of it could be explored, Also I miss the old and greatfull daleks
I love the novelisation of Remembrance because of how it portrays the POV of the mutant being pumped full of hormones so they feel pleasure from successful kills, Daleks are hateful lil’ junkies. Also the “rise” and “paradise” rhyme is such a weak rhyme that it makes me actively wince. But then again, what should I expect from a Dalek?
Very small hints about the Dalek language has been revealed the last 60 years, do you believe this too be a good thing or would it have been better if a full Dalek language would have been designed and published, much like klingon?
Hold up buddy I have to stop you with the Cybermen discussion. When they were first introduced in the early days they used the word "men" to describe mankind or humanity not because of masculinity. When people say "The race of men" they're not meaning the male population just human race.
Saying that a word which existed before the linguistic difference between men and women was reflected is "masculine coded" is honestly insane ngl. "Mankin" has absolutely no gender implications and women were called "men" because it wasn't perceived as relating to gender or anything
I feel like the word cybermen doesn't really mean men in the male context. Its only recently that men has kinda fully become masculine but it used to just be the generic term for humans in general. Man kind. Chairman (which is spelt like chair min) & Woman which show English used to use the term basically as the word for people in the olden days the word people being a French word whilst man is German. So at one point they where basically the same word. Which can be shown by looking at non French influenced German which has Menschen as its word for people showing how the word kinda was neuter originally. I only mention this as I feel like words such as Chairperson sound very stupid mainly as they make me think of the rick & Morty universe where chairs sit on people.
@@Lorric101 Huh that's not really saying anything about what I was talking of. I was just pointing out how silly it was to think of the term mankind & stuff being gendered is stupid.
There once was a Dalek from Skaro Who's limericks were like a Wheelbarrow They wobbled a lot lacking much of a plot and the ending was soft as a marrow.
@Scaramanga1 correction, they WERE female. After they are transformed into the Time Strategist the character is referred to with the He/Him pronouns. I think the reason they refer to Daleks as males is to further highlight their inspiration from the Nazis who were all men. Xx
@Scaramanga1 ohh right I see that’s fair enough. I think a female Dalek would certainly be an interesting idea, to see how it would contrast with the standard Dalek. Would there be any difference in personality? Would they be more efficient? Would it have any deviation from the Dalek cause? Or would it be even more ruthless. It’s certainly a fun idea to think about. xx
Caan never says that he is male though, not even when he's out of the casing. Only Davros calls Caan 'he'. Jast and Thay are genderless, as all Daleks are by default. Or at least so we think. Daleks don't get much opportunity to explore their gender identity and expression lol.
The fact that there isn't a word for a masculine gendered person beyond man would indicate that, as a result of an andro-centric culture, the language treats masculine as default, so it is to some degree masculine in nature.
@seekingabsolution1907 men used to be called wers as in werewolf. What about a guy, bloke, lad, boy, chap, fellow, fella, dude, bro, gentleman, gent, geezer, Joe, and hombre?
“This is not war, this is cyber-bullying!”
"You are superior only in one respect, you are better at dying" wow that is a hard burn especially from a dalek

The benefit of an expanded universe.
There's an idea; to break up each layer of the eventual Dalek Iceberg video, you could use dalek commercial clips to show breaks between each layer.
A good idea at that
A bit like Captain Midnight's videos
I much prefer dalek poetry to dalek philosophy. “THIS ONE IS CALLED DAFFODILS… EXTERMINATE DAFFODILS!”

The use of the word 'men' to describe humanity as a whole is inherently masculine-coded, so the point stands regardless

They would most likely be referred to as He as well because before joining the cult they were both high ranking Dalek commanders. Xx

@@Robert10075 there has always been identity politics in Doctor Who, the show is literally named after the question of the main character's identity

Man is gender-neutral.
The fact that there isn't a word for a masculine gendered person beyond man would indicate that, as a result of an andro-centric culture, the language treats masculine as default, so it is to some degree masculine in nature.
