Is it just me who gets so emotional over this? Kenya is built on sweat and blood of the maumau's, and to think what they went through to regain our land from the Brits and the kind of lives these veterans are living tears me up. I'm so glad to have come across this video at such a time as this. I'm currently on my fourth book that details the accounts of Mau Mau and the struggle for land and freedom. I have had so many mixed emotions since I began this journey, I don't even know what to say and how to feel anymore. Kenyatta should have handled this differently as soon as he assumed power. Kenyatta is the reason Kenya is such a fucked up nation 59 years later! Yes, most of the Mau Mau were illiterate but what would it have cost if you grant them land and peace of mind as the bare minimum? Look at how they have all suffered and perished in poverty. My God. Long live MauMau😭❤️

This piece should be aired once every month untill every sober citizen realizes that it's their fathers who killed our grandpa's n made this country theirs...#kenya_is_not_yet_free
Every Kenyan needs to watch this, learn the true history of our country. Its only then that we get the right footing to right the numerous wrongs in our beloved country. It breaks my heart that such injustices happened to people who sacrificed their literal lives. That Kenyatta thought he would short change the Mau Mau n get away with it is beyond evil. That family's downfall will be monumental.
I am very impressed by the senior counsel articulation of the events behind the murder of the real heroes of the liberation. It's always the same especially with Africans, we are our worst enemy. Just like Lucky dive said, the enemy will stand aside and watch as we kill one another. Most African have a memory span of a warthog driven by greed.
I wondered if Dedan Kimathi had a successor. Now I know. Land was the source of greed and inhumane acts upon post independent Kenya. Joseph Murumbi speaks quite eloquently. Exposure of soldiers in World War II: Truly, kutembea kwingi ni kuona mengi. About the British 'expedition': the white man is a greedy brute and for Kenyans to fight each other in the 21st century is sad. Internal conflict will break you down while the new scramble for Africa will leave you. Think higher, work smarter and remember your ancestors...they expect you to do better now that you have history to learn from.
I pitty this tik tok, insta generation that feels no zeal whatsoever to learn such. For us to be a politically empowered generation we need to learn and understand our detailed past. Thank you Allan Namu!
Very educative documentary, good job Allan. This is the kind of history that should be taught at school, shown from one generation to the next one. We should know how things came to be. Apparently I hear that the Kenyan government received money from the UK some years ago to Compensate the freedom fighters, where is the money? It is such a SHAME, SHAME!!
If you want to understand Kenya from 1900 until independence and what people went through during Mau Mau, just read this book, “Histories of the hanged: The dirty war in Kenya and end of empire” by David Anderson. It was a very sad period.
Gruesome horrors what they went through. To think they nor their descendants got compensated fairly totally explains why Kenya is so dysfunctional today. Profoundly saddens me.
It's painful to watch this. It reminds me of so many Kipsigis KARs soldiers who died in Burma during the second world war and their names are listed in the county assembly of Kericho County. They fought and died in a war that had nothing to do with them in a faraway land as their land was in Kericho was grabbed to plant tea! I shed tears!
maumau was holding the hind legs of the donkey, while jomo was winning and dining with the colonialist and feeding the donkey....It breaks my heart, jomo kenyatta international airport should be renamed to maumau international airport....we have to sign a petition
I live in Nyeri and work in Nyeri and many people call the younger Kenyatta, Muthamaki, it's as if a whole community was taught to worship a landed class that stole their land, same as us in Baringo with Moi
This documentary have open my eyes, and i seen what baba Uhuru, did to Kenyan... am writing this with a painful heart, uhuru the son should give back same of the land to the community, most to those freedom fighters, who have nothing to, be proud about...kenya we need a change.....i like that mzee who was asking those people who said they buyed the shamba we're did they get the money from..good reporting but painful.....😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭.😭😭
The money was provided by the British government in the form of loans and grants to buy out the white settlers who wanted to leave. And the white settlers were compensated but most of that land was transferred to the new ruling class and in particular, Kenyatta and his friends.
Official registration of the Mau Mau On 11 November 2003, the Kibaki government formally registered the Mau Mau movement, disregarding the colonial-era legislation that had outlawed the organisation and branded its members "terrorists". In his remarks during the handing over of the certificate, Vice President Moody Awori regretted that it had taken 40 years for the group to be officially registered despite the sacrifices the Mau Mau had made for Kenya's independence.[27]

So sad...God knows how I hate Jomo Kenyatta and his family...and they are lucky that I don't have any political ambitions to ever be a president..coz I would address the land issue either by constitutional amendment or by the sword as a dictator....the maximum I can allow his family or moi's to own is 5,000 acres until I allocate to every squatter in Kenya....I know I can be a dictator especially to those families and corrupt people in this country..A mixture of Thomas sankara of Burkina Faso,Jerry rawlings of Ghana and Muammar Gadaffi of Libya...not even demons would change me or convince me otherwise, and on this am sure.
Allan Nyamu even if you are no longer with KTN, Thank you for this. We all need to feel this....that slow boiling rage, that anger, that sadness of a still birth. The betrayal, and the cojones of the victors rewriting history. Goddammit! If you want to feel more of that slow-burn-betrayal look for work by maina wa kinyatti. And if you have cucus and gukas, or really old wazees, talk to them...most know the truth, and they will tell you we are not yet free.
As a historian lover Jomo Kenyatta and Tom Mboya were no heroes, they were just smart trick players who knew how to use cards to their own favour. The fact that Gen. Mwairama's family till this day is languishing in poverty shows how they were just being used.
The water was made bitter and has remained bitter, we need to find out why? By knowing our true history not the one we are told by homeguards and their supporters!

Thank u, Baimingi, Deedan Kimathi n Marete for fighting the mzungu so we can live freely, thank. As for Johnston Jomo, l hv no words. I think that pl the old man is saluting should be a museum hata tulipe tuenda kuona and the funds given to the wives n the remaining FF, wooiiii!! I feel so sorry for them. Gitobu do s'thing.
Wakamba walikuwa mau mau kweli? 😂😂
What pains me is him telling them hakuna Cha bure. After they had suffered that much fighting for the same land
Thankyou for this
I grieve for my country
I grieve for those who fought for freedom
I weep for this nation
I literally shed tears watching this piece
If you passionate about Kenya direction. Vunja mifupa, not literally. Keep our Country heros elevated. Maa, Nandi and Samburu rebellion.
GEMA, you guyz. 🇰🇪 Kenya aki ni mzuri.
Who's watching this in 2020? 🖐
TODAY 2021 1705 HOURS I AM WATCHING...WANGARI❤️
This is very informative and blunt. 50+ yrs into independence and this is all we can show. Field Marshall Baimungi's family and all FFighters families must be compensated. This is a shame. Kenyattas and the big families are so gluttonous. My God. When will we ever know Peace as Kenyans? Ngai Wa Tha!!!!
Thank you for this history that many of us didnt have in its entirety.
Johnstone Kamau is truly the God Father of Kenyan Corruption. A villain Masqueraded in sheep's wool. But one day the MAU MAU will sing in victory.
This piece should be aired once every month untill every sober citizen realizes that it's their fathers who killed our grandpa's n made this country theirs...#kenya_is_not_yet_free
A movie on the Mau Mau should be made
Every Kenyan needs to watch this, learn the true history of our country.
What a shame... corruption started right after independence. When they say kenya has deep rooted it's surely is. So sad.
Am telling yo,and that's why is so hard to finish it
This is the history we should be learning in school not European history about napoleon, hitler and etc. Watching from uganda
I wasn't taught any of this in History. I'm knowing about this 8 years after I've left high school
22:56 I really love how that African hero demonstrates his fighting spirit
dushumiao..weehh
The sad thing is parents of this era don't want to teach their children the history of this wonderful Nation
True
We started on a wrong footing....Unfortunately the Mau Mau generation is dying away and with them valuable history gems.
Those are the legends and Kenyan government should recognise them.
Wow!! This should definitely be part of Kenya's history taught in all schools.
they cant expose what truly defines them
Very educative documentary, good job Allan. This is the kind of history that should be taught at school, shown from one generation to the next one. We should know how things came to be. Apparently I hear that the Kenyan government received money from the UK some years ago to Compensate the freedom fighters, where is the money? It is such a SHAME, SHAME!!
Talk about Kenyatta, not black man
It wont stand forever. Maumau sons and daughters shall stand one day
thank you john allan namu
Life of legends brought to you by Allan Namu the legend.
This is so good.. you can really tell how much work n research n time that was put into this masterpiece
Am back here after Mama Ngina shaved Dedan Kimathi's wife locks. It is sad indeed
Am a human being but I hate that woman with passion, like after Ruto won she summoned him to go apologize.
What a great piece of work. Thank you for this.
Can we take a moment to appreciate how polished Joseph Murumbi is! Damn!! We truly were a smart nation back then.
I live in Nyeri and work in Nyeri and many people call the younger Kenyatta, Muthamaki, it's as if a whole community was taught to worship a landed class that stole their land, same as us in Baringo with Moi
Hi. Could you tell me more about what happened in Baringo?
Quite emotional but intriguing documentary. 😢
Official registration of the Mau Mau
On 11 November 2003, the Kibaki government formally registered the Mau Mau movement, disregarding the colonial-era legislation that had outlawed the organisation and branded its members "terrorists". In his remarks during the handing over of the certificate, Vice President Moody Awori regretted that it had taken 40 years for the group to be officially registered despite the sacrifices the Mau Mau had made for Kenya's independence.[27]
Very very gd documentation..some for me was new and now i know more about. Asante.
Thank you for taking your time
Thank you John Allan Namu for this wonderful piece.
KIKUYUS WILL ONE DAY WAKE UP N REALISE THEIR OWN WORST ENEMY IS RIGHT IN THEIR BACK YARD
why kikuyus? It's everyone.
EVEN YOU
Kikuyu's knows but everyone hate even poor Kikuyu's who has suffered all along. At least be the devil u know than ángel you dont know. All Kikuyu's know Kenyatta family treated them bad but if they try to join other tribes hate them ...
The real killers of Field Marshall BAIMUNGI WA MARETE in 1965 succesor of Dedan kimathi (hanged by british imperlialists/colonialists in 1957) together with 7 of his (baimungi) Mau Mau's generals was NOT Mzee JOMO KENYATTA but JACKSON HARVESTOR ANGAINE Kenya's first post independence carbinet Minister/secretary of lands and settlements IN JOMO KENYATTAS CARBINET BELIVE IT OR NOT in collaboration with Baimungi's own brother!!!!.For further details cut/copy and paste the following video link: : ua-cam.com/video/BG0nzuLbO04/v-deo.html on youtube or googe .WAOW.What an unfortunate ,shocking but fascinating story. Angaine was the KIller!!!
You have no respect for our heros, where was your tribe when Kikuyus, Embu and Meru were fighting?. FREEDOM FIGHTERS ARE MY HERO.
Sad that this wasn't taught in school but something we all need to hear, blood shed for freedom cannot be in vain. Murder most vile.
Thats why they've changed the syllabus to hide the truth.
This is what we need to understand even today
These are the true heroes...more needs to be done to appreciate their priceless blood contribution towards Kenya independence
With mama ngina alive forget it.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
He now leads africa uncensored💔🌍
This should be taught in all levels of education in Kenya
That shosho needs to know where her husband's body was dumped that's all she asks for! What a shame!!
It's only what would let her be at peace.....she has lived all those years....she knows her heart better
Kimathi was a true leader.
I'm here from Edgar obare's stories😂😂😂
Me too
Cyzel🔥💔💔💔💔😂😂😂😂😂
@@findingian001 yess😹
As a historian lover Jomo Kenyatta and Tom Mboya were no heroes, they were just smart trick players who knew how to use cards to their own favour. The fact that Gen. Mwairama's family till this day is languishing in poverty shows how they were just being used.
Thank you for documentaries kenya juu
I think a stadium, a school, an airport and all other things should atleast have Baimingu.
it is ideed the first betrayal. Good work Allan.
Great Historical Video.
The water was made bitter and has remained bitter, we need to find out why? By knowing our true history not the one we are told by homeguards and their supporters!
How far we have come.. Today,9th August 2022,as we cast our votes and usher in a new govt ,let us take a moment to appreciate the great work our forefathers did.

_Before independence, Kenya had resources while Kenyatta gave the promise of hope to share this with all Kenyans. After independence, Kenyatta took the resources and Kenyans were left with hope that it will all come back. We are still…_
Edgar brought me here . Who else 👀.
Am here wondering if I'm truly Kenyan without a pinch of soil in my name.
Just imagine what it would be like if we had real journalists like John Allan Namu. Big up man! You are the real deal.
Let me cry just let me cry dear kenyans
Big up narrator of this story a wonderful, free o
"Behind the fence are fanatics. Men who have taken beastly..." There's so much history not in our books.
