Crazy Story Behind Classic '57 Chevy Drag Car

- In 1999 Scott Wagner picked up his brand new 1957 Chevy Super Gas car from Tim McAmis Race Cars. After a few days at home, Wagner decided to take the '57 to a local event for some testing and shakedown runs.
After a couple of good laps, Scott entered the car into competition and as luck would have it, he would go on to win the event. With a brand new race car and a win after it's first event, Scott could not be any happier with his dream car.
That was about to change...
In this video, Tim shows you the 24 year old race car that recently stopped in the shop while telling a wild story that involves drag racing, pizza, car theft, crackheads, a chop saw, police helicopters and old school justice.

I remember this like it was yesterday, I was at that race with my best friend who raced, we were friends with Scott and his crew. We usually went to Fun House Pizza after the races but we stayed and hung out the track that night. We were on our way home and my friends dad was driving his dully and trailer because we had been drinking pretty good that night, but we got pulled over because we were a black dully with a black inclosed trailer on 470 west, and they had 3 or 4 cops behind us and made us all get out and searched the trailer. From that point on when ever we stopped to eat or if we were racing out of town and at the hotel they would open the hood and take the fuse out that went to the fuel pump just to be safe.
That beautiful 57 Chev ticks all the right boxes! It is gorgeous. Quite a story as well , with a good ending. I have seen his son on NHRA " attention in the pits ", they are truly a car family. Thanks Tim, much appreciated.

NHRA camping world series. He's racing super gas in the big race in Indy starting Thursday. Qualifying starts Wednesday. He runs between 170-180.

1979 Summer Nationals, someone stole a complete funny car operation out of a motel parking lot Friday night.
Never heard if it had a good ending or not, but everyone at the race Saturday and Sunday, heard about it and the reward all day over the speakers.
