  • Finally the Gear room is finished enough to be presentable. Having a decent organized room to store camping gear and equipment in makes it easier to find stuff and plan and pack for trips. I hope you enjoy!

You have done a fantastic job with your gear room. It's more presentation quality than many surplus stores I've been to. Man, that is guy-heaven! You're right, my wife would appreciate that I haven't got nearly as much. But she would get even madder that my stuff isn't so well organized, so I will go to great lengths to ensure she never sees this. Thanks for sharing with us.

I can’t be the only woman who appreciates this amazing space! So well organized. When my kids left home for college and real life, I turned one bedroom into a bushcraft/camping/leather working room. So relaxing to be surrounded by all my outdoorsy stuff. Apparently I have a long way to go to catch up to you!

You aren't! lol. Since my kids left home my house looks like a workshop. I do still have a 'neat space' for visitors.... People have often asked: Why on earth do you keep so much junk! I say... it's not junk, look! everything is organized and has a label. And than they see what I do with things and go: ooooh, okay! That is really handy (or nice).

Wow super awesome survival man cave. Super organized nice and neat. I bet you've had some mice get into some of your stuff and make holes. Good idea on hanging the sleeping bags. I would think it would make it harder for them to want to make a home in hanging stuff. You can buy at garage sales clothing racks, even some that spin circular racks all kinds of designs. I guess you don't have a musty basement or you would not want to store much material in it if you did. I'm impressed just how neat and organized it all is. Great job on organization. Better late then never. You have enough to equip to supply immediate family and cousins if the shit hits the fan, and replacements for when they wear out. Now all you need is a place to store dehydrated food and water. Then you're set with piece of mind to complete the man cave survival/camping equipment. Great job in how you designed the shelves to organize it all. I love, love the axe design. Is it your own axe hanging cabinet design with two small blocks to hold each?

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! I had mice in the past but luckily they never damaged anything. Yes, its got heat and air down there like the rest of the house so no problem with dampness. Funny you mentioned outfitting others, not only is this gear for myself and Nick but whenever my Dad or brother comes along I outfit them from this room too. Yes, I designed that axe cabinet. Them little blocks just have a U groove cut in them and the axe rests in the groove. Thanks for watching

I feel like I have just taken a tour of a survivalists museum... are we supposed to leave a donation in the box by the door? Dave, 30 years of gear... you are one talented packrat. I would know because it takes one to know one. I just wish all my collections were more like yours. In all seriousness this video has reminded me that many of your self made inventions could be huge hits in the outdoorsmen market. You really have a talent for coming up with some brilliant ideas. If you every decide to have a yard sale let me know before it happens so I can have a first shot at everything. Thank you sir for sharing it really was amazing to see everything in an organized setting!

    Hey Dave,
Great video as usual! Brother, you have (obviously) quite the selection of gear! It's great to know that you've been acquiring and producing your gear for 30 plus years.
Your presentation (to us), is representative of a TYPE A PERSONALITY. THAT'S ORGANIZATION AT IT'S FINEST! I surprised that many of your personal innovations and inventions haven't been rather gone
    on to be mass produced.
You have an infectious laugh and you ALWAYS have fun creating your very addictive vids.

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it Bruce! 30 years is a long time to do this, the stuff has just added up. I think if more of my gear was less related to open fires a lot of it would be produced. Camping companies frown on gear that 100% geared towards open fires I think. Thanks for watching

A man needs a place to stretch out amongst his equipment and just take in the magnificence of it all and then maybe drift off to sleep for a well deserved nap, planning his next trip. Reallybigmonkey1, truth is some of the boxes you showed us were only 3/4 full. I bet if you did some repacking, you could get that couch cleared off. My only question is where would you put the big screen tv/dvd so you can watch those Rambo movies?... P.s. as much time as you spend down there I'm surprised you don't already have a percolator and box of donuts already set up. 😉
