I still have my originals on their sprues. I didn't build them because I didn't know which version to make and, at the time, didn't know how to magnetize. They are now on my to do list just behind four Epic armies.
OH MY GOD. I adore this game and the miniatures. I've been looking everywhere on the old continent to get my hands on the starter box...Thank you for all your videos. Greatly appreciated.
I bought a bunch of BFG from people who were rage quitting when GW ceased support then put it away. Just got it back out and looked it over - about 25k pts of ships, mostly Imperial Navy and Chaos. Beautiful models! I'm putting a couple of fleets together now.
Amazing miniature! I hold out hope like AT that Battle Fleet Gothic gets a revamp. Lovely paint job & I do always enjoy your laid back style / approach to a paint guide 👍🏻
So many great classics have seen re-releases, it's strange not to have even heard rumors of a Gothic revamp. Then again, I'd imagine there's a complete revamp of the rules to consider - tokens on card 'bridges' rather than pen and paper, maybe?
I have an embarrassingly large fleet thanks to Soul Forge Studios STL's. My paint scheme was going to be very similar to this, but looking at your ship, I think it may be this exactly! Thanks for sharing the process.
You can go mad in the details on these, but for the most part I think keeping it simple lets you actually see more of the detail rather than cluttering it up with colours.
I eventually want to pick up some of the Vanguard miniatures to go with assorted 3D prints for a non-40K setting, using Majestic 12's Iron Stars (Edwardian sci-fi) rules. Uses most of the Starmada engine, but tweaked to the "period".
I’ve got a fair sized collection of BFG from when it first came out. The minis were great fun to paint, even for 16 year old me with a total lack of skills. I might have to dig some out and have another go with the benefit of my slightly better painting ability.
Absolutely beautiful. Looked in the description for an affiliate link to immediately buy some, but instead decided I really need to be a patron. Looking forward to much more great stuff!
Good call! A lot of Patreon creators run discount codes each month for MyMinifactory, so if you're planning on picking up a large backlog it's always worth a look!
Love these , still have 4 flottilas one which is still on sprue. Bought one from GW , the rest was from my gaming circle that wanted to sell them , all within a week and this was when they were available to order from gw , so already had fleets once my own arrived , might have to dust them off once Im done with some Epic armies ... that pile of shame keeps on expanding
It actually never went away. Great many miniatures available, rules are available (plus many great fan things) and a lively community. From one point of view a re-release from GW would be fine but they could also screw it. But if they do I hope they contact the talented artists designing the current miniatures, not to stop them but to ask them to work on BFG for GW!
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio thank you sonic. You always reply quickly. I always keep returning to your videos for advice and instruction. Your videos are crammed with knowledge.
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio true, not that I haven't thought about starting the likes of star wars Xwing or Armada for example. I'll admit, I just like the setting for 40k a tiny bit more than star wars. 😅
Yeah, GW changed the formulas after this video came out, unfortunately. 😅 AP Soft Tone is a pretty reasonable substitute, but if you've had luck already with Agrax, all the better!
Great video, just wanted to say a couple of things: 1) about your last video, if you havent heard about the channel "SCP Realised" here on youtube you're missing out. He makes short eas scenarios about different SCPs. 2) will you ever paint some battletech minis? I feel the community needs it more and more since GW is being toxic as hell and many want to explore other gaming systems. 3) Kings of War Armada fills the void the old Man o War game left, you should check it out if you havent already!
I'll definitely have to give that channel a look. I hadn't stumbled across it yet, so one to put on the radar. Battletech is one of those 'eeenh, maybe?' things, which I realise isn't a terribly helpful answer. I just don't much like the visual style for a lot of the 'mechs. It's something I'll probably get to eventually, but I don't want to make any promises on when it's likely to be.
There's also a great fan version, BFG:XR. My choice if I want the full BFG experience with quality of life improvements.
Now that's one I hadn't actually heard of! Definitely going to have to check that one out. Excellent suggestion!
XR has nice things but also things I don't like. :)

I saw an unopened, shrink-wrapped starter box on Twitter the other day. I could have wept to see it out in the wild!

One of the best GW games made. Do some chaos ships next!!
The shield generators/sensor bubbles on the top of the ship could also be done as gemstones.
Always love to hear shout outs to Warfleets and Full Thrust
I played the original “Space Fleet” game from the early 1990’s. It and BFG were some of my favorite games.
Great paint job. Love BFG. Still playing to this day and easier than ever to get into with 3d printing.
There's so many extremely good STLs out there, even free ones, that it's almost criminal not to have a 3D printer for these awesome classics.
Wow, cool, was not expecting this!!! Such a rad space ship!
Right?! Deep space murder cathedrals are where it's at! :D

My dad made the 3D files for this print! What a great surprise for a Monday afternoon! Love your print, and that paint job is crazy good
That is awesome! Talk about a coincidence. :D

I'm eyeing up the rest of the collection now, trying to decide when exactly to pull the trigger on going "AAAA BUY THEM ALL." 🤣
Thank you , Troy .
Nailing that OG box art look. Horizon Wars: Infinite Dark is a great new spaceship ruleset that includes an excellent solo mode.
I've heard it mentioned a couple of times, so I'll definitely need to put that one on the radar as well.
Vanguard miniatures is a great store for alternative Miniatures.
OoOoOoOoOooooOoO, it looks so good, I havent played Battlefleet in so long.
Absolutely incredible
I love everything by the Soul Forge Studios guys. Their Patreon is amazing! Incredible paint job... I need you to come paint mine next!
Would that I could! I need the time to finish my own backlog first. 😂
Such awesome mini's and the book was just awesome. Fluff tastic
So many things to paint! :D I love the bone color! I love how nicely the print came out, too, so many nice details. :)

very cool the red and gold shield
Starmada by majestic 12 games are pretty good as well

It looks great! Thanks for sharing this neat tutorial.
Loved BFG! Hope they re-release/revitalise this! I’m gonna need to get a 3D printer now!
Nova cannons FIRE!!!!
Amazing video. Its great to see Battle Fleet Gothic painting videos and your results were fantastic. Maybe an Eldar ship next time :)
I've got plans to slowly work through the original four fleets - the game was best balanced with them, after all! ;D
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio I think with the 2010 official FAQ/compendium the whole thing has good balance. Except for eldar in circumstances.
Damn it... now I want to start collecting BFG again. I couldn't afford it when it was around so I built my own from scratch.
I've seen some brilliant scratchbuilds for BFG. :D I'm sure it's perfectly possible!

I know Vangaurd do some great proxies which are a high standard 👍
Vanguard are some of my favourite metal alternatives. Their totally-not-Mechanicus cruisers are gorgeous!
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio they really are gorgeous. By far one of my favourite companies and Long may they keep depleting my bank account 👍
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio They actually are more resin than metal these days.
Amazing 😍
Man... I see these videos and wish I had a 3d printer. 😯

I got one of these boxsets, practically unopened.
Starmada is another great starship combat game
Hi Sonic, can I ask where you got your bases from? I’ve been searching the web. They’re either international, out of stock or from sketchy websites.
Litko's one easy place to get them which have international distributors, or printing them's an option if you've got access to one.
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio thank you sonic. You always reply quickly. I always keep returning to your videos for advice and instruction. Your videos are crammed with knowledge.
Me an avid lover of starship combat, would get into 40k way after they stop selling the cool space combat game. go figure.
There's plenty of places similar are still available, though, and dozens of games out there. It doesn't have to be 40k-related to be a great game!
