    My first panels were Rent a Roof that were put on in 2015 then in 2020 i had some money come in so i called the installers and asked if i could buy them and they said i could and they only wanted £4k for them . They transferred all the paperwork and the FiTs , Then i added extra panels and a Powerwall .
    When i got the Rent a Roof panels i Googled it and there were so many articles saying dont have them you will never sell your house and blar blar blar . i saw a guy recently saying he had a letter asking him if he wanted to buy them for only £2k i told him to buy them . i now have 32 panels E S & W .
    As you say its about time estate agents came up to date with their questions . im really happy with what i have now . Good video thanks ive not seen anyone cover this before . PS im having the gas cut off Friday .

      @@SpectrumGeeks Morning that was a quick reply thanks ,
      I'm having Air to Air with heat pump fitted soon for less than £5k it's much less work and can be done in a day or two . i dont know why more people dont go down thatt road as many counties have them and the can cool the house too .
      Thanks again

      @@rodden1953 This year I am looking to have Air 2 Air installed also, and then IR panels in the less used rooms.

      @@SpectrumGeeks Thats good , it was Nigel from the EV Puzzle that put me onto A2A , He has 1 IR in his small toilet and i did a bit of research and was a bit put off with ppl saying you have a cold back and warm face , im not sure yet about the bedrooms but for the bathroom i am going to have smart plugs and a low wattage heater i can turn on with my phone , it'll be some trial and error untill i get it the most economical. ( BTW i live alone so its not too important about doing things that fit into most ppls lives ) I'll keep watching to see how you get on . many thanks

    Great video, typical estate agents and solicitors still stuck in the last century. I am thinking of moving in the next 3-5 years so was hesitant to go down the solar / battery route. You have changed my opinion re the battery, I might look at the Tesla Powerwall 3, as this can be installed outside, when it arrives in the UK later this year. Thanks

    Yup. I don’t think the buyer cared about the EWI and low energy changes I made to my last house. Had to proactively hand over to Tado to them.

      I would have thought more people had paid attention during / post energy crisis times, but apparently not.

    So helpful and timely as we're selling our house now. Any learnings moving your PW as im thinking of doing the same now? And at least one of my Zappis. Thanks!!

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  3 місяці тому +1

      Hardest thing about moving the PW is the weight of it.
      I had an electrician remove it (solar company couldnt do it in the time frame), then a friend with a van helped me put it in storage for a few weeks, then once in the new house helped me mount it on the wall at the new house, then arranged solar company to come do the re-install, DNO, etc.

    Really surprised !. We are on the market right now with solar, battery storage and feed in via Octopus. Although its paid for itself I was kind of expecting some of the cost of the kit to be added to the house value, as you said the estate agents were ‘cool’ about the installation …..I may have it stripped out and use it myself on the next hours !

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  3 місяці тому +1

      Deffo consider taking the battery if its not DC connected.
      Like you my solar / battery had paid for itself, so left the solar but took the battery with me.

    Leased roof wise never had a service, the underwriter changes so often i don't even know who it is. I did get a call last year as i was just about to go abroad asking to do a maintenance visit but this was because the production meter had stopped responding, i guess it's ok now as never rung back

    Makes me think I would remove the solar, inverter and batteries from mine and take them to my new home. Maybe next time do a ground mounted array to make it simple to move on with.

      Its a lot of hassle to remove the panels though, but is sad not really recognised as an asset.

    Not what I would hope for these days Dale but down to the lack of knowledge about solar by the estate agent as you know. I had a similar experience about three years ago when I had a chance of a valuation on my home. I asked if the solar, battery and FiT would increase the value of my home only for the estate agent to say 'What is solar' !!!

    • @SpectrumGeeks

      Its crazy in my opinion, but I guess its still a niche / geeky thing for many.

      Alot of hassle to remove the panels, but I did take the Tesla Powerwall, so that was something.

  • @salibaba

    Sounds like it would have been less hassle and financially positive to have sold the system 2nd hand in its entirety.

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  3 місяці тому

      Ha ha, probably not worth the hassle. Would need scaffolding, remove all panels, store them and transport them, and replace roof tiles when removing the mounts, then possible leaks. Just frustrating estate agents / buyers don't see the value.

    How long until feed in tariff stops, will the home buyer get free power after a certain year?

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  Місяць тому

      The Feed In Tariff is 25 years, after that the homeowner no longer gets the FiT payments, but can them move to SEG and get paid for any energy they actually export.
      If you own the Solar PV system (ie not rent a roof), you still benefit from the free power generation anyway, regardless of FiT, SEG, etc

  • @M0LHA
    @M0LHA 2 місяці тому

    I was also surprised having solar and battery storage doesn't add any material value to your home, I wonder if that's just ignorance (in a respectful way), coupled with the fear of the unknown (as you said, leased roof, weight, safety etc etc). I see why you took your PW2 with you, that's a 12k purchase that you'd be just giving to the new owner without any reward.

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  2 місяці тому +1

      I do think its an ignorance thing. I still have lots of conversations who think solar in the UK makes no sense. Its sad really, as I still think it is, I don't want to convince people otherwise, but just provide information to allow more people make informed decisions.
