    Been baking 'Golden Delight' zukes with a bit of olive oil, then putting marinara, fresh mozzarella, shaved parmesan, and a touch of ground chorizo on before putting it under the broiler. Addictive.

    I am from an Italian family and I am sharing my recipe for Zucchini. I grew up eating it this way and also my mom made Zucchini bread.
    Saute sliced Zucchini with olive oil, onion and garlic. About halfway thru...add quartered tomatoes (peeled or you can pick the skins off as they cook). Add a generous sprinkle of Italian seasoning ( dried) salt and pepper. Sprinkle with parmesan and enjoy!

    Thanks Travis. I cut those zucchini long ways 1/4 inch thick, oil them up a little, sprinkled with your favorite steak seasoning or garlic and salt and gas or charcoal grill them for about 2 minutes. Really good. I usually cook them after I pull the steaks off. Thanks man Long time subscriber and viewer. Keep them coming.

    I’m growing Toronjina, Sun Sugar, Edox, and Matt’s Wild Berry. All seem to be growing quite well so far. But as far as Zucchini, those pantheon are in a class by themselves. We’ve already been harvesting and eating them which is unusual here in PA.

    Seeing the Edox under perform I really think the culprit was the cool start to your season. Here in 9b sub tropic Texas coast we didn't see temps drop below 65 at night after mid February. A buddy of mine in north texas 8b(who recommend me Edox) saw light frost into March and low 50s into April. He started his seed during a warm spell and was hit with a front at seedlings. That's when he saw a decline in vigor and few of his plants became stunted. him and I comparing our gardens saw a huge difference between performance. His Edox have been underwhelming and have not done as well as they have for him in past years. For me it was an early heavy producer. After reading more into Edox I gathered it was a greenhouse variety that does perform better under warmer conditions and in cooler climates benefits from temperature controlled hoop houses or indoor growing. I only mention all this because for me the Edox has been one of the heaviest producing and vigorous Cherry verities I've grown. Very minimal disease while my sweet 100 and sun sugar are really done for 😂 I'm just hanging on for one more picking. Edit:Really think the Edox deserve one more look at
    And a fair shot at redemption. They have exceptional flavor especially when ripened to the deeper dark red color

    Everything looks great! Squash looks good considering the rain you’ll have had. Had to finally pull my squash plants up from my raised bed. Despite my best efforts the vine borers got them. Got a good crop before the borers killed the plants off. I got two options for a second planting at this point. Plant some winter squash seeds or set out Red Snapper tomatoes transplants I had left. I got a bad feeling those tomatoes transplants will struggle in this Mississippi heat. What do you think?

    We planted Toronjinas this year based on your suggestion. They were a little slow to get going for us but, boy have they outrun all the other tomatoes now. We planted five plants and have more tomatoes than we can pick. We have tons to share! We are also growing Costada Romanesco this year and it’s our favorite squash of the year. I will be getting some of the Pantheon in our next Johnny’s order. Thank you for all the great advice and suggestions!

    Boy you got some good looking plants! I think the larger cucurbit plants like the squash and pumpkin like the no till style because they seem to have huge root systems. I've got deep woodchip walkways and my squash plants have roots going out about 4 feet from the stem into the woodchips.

    The pantheon is good and very productive, easy pick gold 2 is out producing it though. I have been over run with them but the SVB are going to win the battle before long. I have round two planted with mesh netting over them till they start producing. Then the netting come off and harvest as many as I can before the SVB take them out.

    Got a question Kev . I have big ole tomato plants of six different varieties with blooms all over and no fruit setting . They have sun till about two o’clock and then shade in the hot part of the day . Only have a few cherry tomatoes setting . Is there anything that will correct this problem?

    • @LazyDogFarm
      @LazyDogFarm  Рік тому +1

      Unless it's too hot, I can't see where a little shade would hurt them. Some varieties won't set fruit once it gets so hot.

    My 4 year old granddaughter only eats my cherry tomatoes. Her dad tried to get her to eat a sliced tomato from his girlfriend's garden and she refused because it wasn't my Cherry tomatoes. Last year I lost half of my tomatoes to disease and was left with nothing but cherry tomatoes and she ate them well into October.

    • @LazyDogFarm
      @LazyDogFarm  Рік тому +1

      Use something broad-spectrum like Spinosad early in the life of the plant, especially if you know you're going to have issues. The adults of any beetle are tough to kill, but you can usually kill the nymphs with organic methods that aren't too harmful to pollinators.

    I'd like a mess of those baby squash with some onions stir fried, with some fried green tomatoes and cornbread, I don't even need the fried chicken, just the veggies. I'm pickling some green tomatoes I soaked in pickling lime and then ice water to keep them crunchy. Add some fresh dill to the jars and garlic and oh so yummy battered and fried. No I don't eat much fried food so that's a treat for me.

    Up here, where the subsoil is clay, I build the ridges first and then plant in the ridge/hill. The idea is for the taters to form mostly in the hill well above the clay. It makes them a lot easier to dig and the taters are better formed.
