    Why all those screws in the wallplate straps? NHBC only require four screw fixings per strap into the blockwork. All those extra ones you put in are doing nothing, only adding to the labour cost of the job; it doesn't make it in any way a better job. I only raise that point because anyone watching would think that was the 'correct' way to do it. Of course, you can put in as many as you want, but it's completely pointless to do so. Nice to see Dan on this channel, a really down-to-earth and skilled tradesman.

    T18 or TDC does wonders. CXS and C18 perfect for interior. I could be wrong though

    Why do you use so much screws in moveable/settling materials.? Surely screws have a tendency to snap or ring !

    Would you ever consider using a 4 inch Galvanised Nail to use on the wall with restraint straps rather than drilling ?
    Good work by the way keep it up 😃

    1:13 Not a great idea in case it gets dropped. The slightest misalignment of rotating parts can write off the tool.

      @@BuildWithAE Haha sorry - I've had experience before where I've accidentally knocked a router off a bench and the impact bent the moving parts just the smallest amount but enough to cause real problems. Of course the manufacturing tolerance is so small that an attempted repair just made the problem worse and there was no option but to replace it. Ever since then I've been especially careful particularly with rotating tools. Hope you have a great weekend too!

    I'm not a builder or carpenter,just an enthusiastic DIYer. At 4.15 you're making cuts on the wall plate. What is the purpose of this?

    • @BuildWithAE
      @BuildWithAE  3 роки тому

      Hi because the straps have a natural inner curve and taking the corner off the timber allows it to seat neatly all the best Tony 👍

    As a European...I consider this "wall plate" ass useless piece of instalation... Just drill a hole through that wood and brick, push in chemical anchor and install thread rod and nut...and...that´s all folks...and for this length...you just need 3 thread rod for each wall
