  • The United Nations peacekeeping Chief Herve Ladsous told the Security Council the new upsurge of violence in the Central African Republic has forced some 100,000 people to flee their homes, adding that more than half of the population needs humanitarian assistance. Ladsous said that clashes between the Popular Front for the Renaissance of Central African Republic (FPRC) and the Union for Peace in Central African Republic fighters in the country's central region, had assumed ethnic overtones and that this was particularly worrying.
