Those who say that this performance is not good, they even know what is the meaning of this piece? If you want acrobats go to the circus... Tou need to know about the piece first to know if performance is good or not. This is a very good performance of a Liszt Master.
Maestro Arrau created one of most beautiful moment in which he put so much fresh interpretation in his own tempo. The climax was so *transparent* unlike i heard from other maestros
I don't know, why the algorithm shows this interpretation first when searching for Vallee d'Obermann. It is really a very clear performance. But also very boring: tempi really slow, not much dynamic and completely un-romantic. Compared to the only Horowitz-recording available, definitely not an alternative, althought Horowitz has changed some small parts of the score (which Liszt also did quite often in his performances). This is such a colorful work. Arrau often does take-apart the music instead of letting it flow. For me, Horowitz' interpretation is the most interesting one. He works out colors and harmonics, which Arrau just point at. Arrau is playing quite "angular", Horowitz "round" and smoothly. It is common sence, that in romantic music one can vary tempi, dynamics etc. to underline the emotional aspect of music. Horowitz does it perfectly, Arrau plays it like an accountant who counts notes. For me it does not fit to this piece. @@trollslendtoribash318 The point is that he expresses his opinion in a derogatory way, which, to begin with, and to finish, his very personal 'judgement" might be there just to say something "shocking" about an artist . As if the fact of daring to despise what an artist does would give you authority ... moreover if the artist is a beloved and respected one ... What I meant is, who cares about what this poor guy (see his nickname!) thinks, probably nobody, whereas many, lots of people care and have cared for Arrau.

Fabulous. Arrau is one of the very greatest.
His crystal clear but the warmest tone is always marvelous. His chords never shatter away even at fortissimo.
My favorite piece of all and for many many years. Arrau shows his great touch!
Arrau was one of the best performer, ever.
Listz, what an incredible Masterpiece you composed!!

L'interpretazione più bella e convincente di questo brano...
Grande Arrau
Ottima performance che da a questa meravigliosa musica la grandezza che gli compete..
the best performance I know.
La version la plus juste à mon avis du grand Maitre.
Force et clarté.
Justesse et lumière.
it's only me, or the melody the 12:40 is almost the same in the 8th trascendental etude??? that's the most incredible part... no words
always thought this!! The middle section of Wilde Jagd is so similar
Mazzepa?
@@finnstyles yeah fr
@@finnstyles pretty sure this is older though no?
Unique Arrau. Takes you to another plane.
Une magnifique version !!
Un toucher unique .
Arrau sempre fantástico com uma interpretação inesquecível.
Magistral!!
This is BY FAR the best interpretation of this piece.
Nyiregyházi?
@@dyadichorrible
@@dyadic that's the worst one out there literally💀💀
This is magnificent. I'd throw in Bolet, though (the studio recording). Nyiregházi is indeed awful.
Love this piece
SUBLIME!
Magisterial
Capolavoro assoluto
Best execution on UA-cam!
Arrau Magistral
This interpretation by Arrau makes all others kinda pale in comparison. Simply epochal!
11:45 just a note for me
😍
Cecile LIcad's performance of Vallee d:"Obermann by Franz Liszt is the runaway best.
ludzie nie wiedzą jak to grać, chodzi o coś zupełnie innego, nie tak głośno i łapczywie!!

This rendition is plain vanilla -- IOW, quite boring.
Yes, the circus with the clowns are very far from this deep interpretation which is not for anyone.
your nick talks very eloquently about you :) No point in listening to music, just do something else, for example, go and have a big mac or two.
Would you rather your kid have feminism or cancer? ...Well.??...nothing is written in choices...but I don’t like cassata.!
