the upmost respect to you Phil, 99.9% of woodturners would have sent that piece back to the person who sent it with some derogatory remark about their sanity. You are a true pioneer of what can be turned. Thanks for sharing and congratulations on such an incredible piece.

Or, perhaps the man who sent it assumed that Phil was one of those artists that couldn't refuse a challenge. (You know, one who grumbles & mutters under their breath, all the while forcing his own head to the grindstone.
      "Will...get... this...done!...It...won't...beat
      ...me...!!!"
You know the type....A fun combination of OCD & ADHD...and perfectionism.
And, gee, I wouldn't know anything about that...LOL...OY!!!

Another contestant of that show we all love to watch, "Stump the Phil", has bitten the dust. I turned a honeysuckle root ball, but it was nowhere like that one. Great job, Phil. Take a few days off and rest up.

Intrepid! Let's stick it in there and see what happens. Whew! Another brilliant awesome piece. I bet you'd turn some petrified wood. As always I'm amazed and humbled in your presence. Thank you for another beautiful piece.

Well Phil, I know it was a ton of work for you, but I really like it! It has so much interesting color and texture. I especially like the area on the outside where the speckled “bark” is still showing. Glad the cracks behaved themselves and stayed put. All in all, I think it’s a tremendous piece!
