This cemetery is known at the Culpepper Cemetery, but the oldest marked burial is that of Martha Perryman. With admittedly brief searches I could not find much about her… kind of a mystery to me now…

Dude, stop finding all my people! :) Martha Perryman could possibly be the daughter of David Perryman and Mary Dixon, sister of Elisha Perryman who died in Richmond, GA. James Cobb Perryman would have been her nephew.

The cemetery looks meticulously laid out, and I'm sure there's still a lot we don't see. There were a few Julia(s), which caught my eye. Must've been a well-loved name. Wonder if there was a famous lady, internationally or locally, who they were named after.
I absolutely love this video (I absolutely love all of your videos!) and appreciate how you make sure to read every name. It amazes me how many cemeteries are scattered around Georgia. Thankfully, you find them and also share them with us. Thank you so much for everything you do, Robert. You've stayed consistent over the years and are a person we can trust who will give out the same great quality in every video. We love you to pieces, Robert. Stay safe out there, take care of yourself, and have fun!😊

Or it could've been a family name- the name Charles has been in my family on my dad's side since at least the 1870's when my great great grandfather was born in Germany then immigrated to America in the early 1900's and the first born son of every generation since him has been named it (my uncle is Charles the IV) and at least as far as my grandfather is concerned it wasn't because they liked the name per say but to keep up the family tradition. Either way it definitely held some special meaning to them which is awesome 😊 But yeah I definitely agree with everything you said this is an awesome channel ❤️

That Culpepper Cemetery is pretty cool, and I loved that reddish colored stone. I'm not sure if there's such a thing as red marble or not. If there isn't, then it's granite, I should think. That name Story--- We knew some Storys, 40 years ago in Morris County, NJ. Great to see Martha Perryman's gravesite cleared out and taken care of.

I really enjoy your videos and enjoy looking in cemeteries too. I maintain a lot of my ancestors grave around here. I'm on findagrave too. I've become a researcher of sorts as everything is available online now days! lol. I have my ancestors all the way back to 1649 when the first (Abraham)Vosburg came to the American colonies. We were also American revolutionaries, "Sons of Liberty". I take care of my paternal grand parents graves that are here locally and his sisters my great 2x aunt which took me a while to find. She's the one that told our family about us being "Sons of Liberty", as that type of thing was usually passed along as word of mouth. (remember Ben Franklin said, "We stick together or we'll surely hang together.") "We" have always been wary of the government in my family and I feel that mindset comes from our ancestors that helped create this country. Also I have a spot missing in the chronology after 1727 until 1795 when my great 3x grandpa was born. (a township hall burned down with the records in NY.) (His grave still stands in NY.) My brother, parents and grand parents and 2 great uncles are all in the same cemetery and I and my sisters take care of those. I have a lot of innuendo on my families lives passed down by word of mouth.

So sad about Jane Perryman. I wonder if she felt she was releasing her husband to go forth single? To refuse to go but still be married to her husband would be shameful to her possibly? One has to remember the time period. I think she knew she'd be too homesick to go but couldn't stay and be married at the same time and break her wedding vows so she only saw one way out. Then her husband stays there!? I wonder how his life was after that?

I know a Virginia Stringfellow who lives in Talbotton. She was a teacher at Talbot County high school for many many years. She is a sweet, sweet woman and very well loved by those who know her.

😢tragic story of Jane Perryman I remember Dan and you finding that grave. I imagine there was more than we'll know to that story, husband /wife relationships are complicated but you don't blow your brains out cause you don't want to move.

Yes, but you also have to take into account how traumatic moving would have been in 1848. This part of Georgia had just been settled and now you have to pack your stage coaches up for a long journey to new land in Texas…

Sad as it is, not everyone wanted to move, it was standard at that time wasnt it and most went where the husband said and onto promised pastures, greener land etc etc, Jane Perryman just didnt want to go, we dont know if she was being forced or what but she had an obvious love of her Texas regardless and probably saw no other way out. Would have been extremely hard and if not brave to have to shoot herself in order not to leave. So so very sad and a story I have never heard of but I am from NZ and living in Oz so stories such as this would probably never be heard of here.

Kind of odd that those 2 guys died in the same day. Wonder if it was natural or if something happened that day.
