The umpires seem to forget that the fans and the networks pay big bucks to see the players play not the umpires eject people for petty offenses
I love this! Crazy umps and manager/ump arguments make the game so unique! It's kinda like hockey fights.
Something is wrong when we are getting to know the names of umpires more than the names of the team owners , managers , Coaches and even some players names .... ,,,,,/
Not only was there no apology, he doubled down and said Boone had to be held responsible whoever it was...
exactly. we're gonna rip that today
Umpires have gotten so much bad press lately. Makes you wonder how such an egregious ejection slipped by.
I went to an aviators game while I was in LV this weekend and the ABS challenge system is amazing. That's the way to go imho. I agree with Todd that the human element is important, but getting the obvious calls right is paramount to keeping the integrity and credibility of the game intact.
“Quickie photo that kinda moves”
Scotty Braun the wordsmith 😂😅
lol
gracias haha
Just watching the game now, “I don’t care” UMP another bad umpire that needs to go. They all have too big an ego.
MLBPA should start a prize system for yearly most accurate umpires. Maybe with that money someone will buy Angel some glasses
We always opposed robo umps to give mortals the benefit of the doubt, and to not be total aholes, but it has gotten to the point where the game and some carreers, opportunities, come backs, are being hurt by bonehead errors and stubborness...is that a word? ...screw them! Bring on Steven Spielberg and Lucas films to reality and stop this once and for all.
Hunter missed the first pitch pretty badly following the ejection.
5 pitches into the game smh
Congratulations, Wendelstedt. You are now tied with Angel(?) Hernandez for #1 Most Hated Umpire
I understand this is a veteran tactic, but framing the pitch by the catch is a bit strange to me, imagine trying to fool the umpire with a ball in the dirt and raising it 1-2 feet of where it initially catching it.
Time 4 k zone..get the calls right 🎉
Not to mention the call was horrible- it was a full swing. Of course the umpire is sensitive because he's absolutely terrible.
New slogan for MLB Umpires: It's a strike because I said it was a Strike!
see those postgame ump quotes too?!?! got even worse after the game
yup! we're going to cover that on today's show
Hunter's hearing is just as bad as his eyesight
So when a player or coach gets ejected they also get suspended correct?
Wendelstedt and his entire crew should be suspended by MLB for 3 games and also not be eligible for postseason games for 1 year.
A mistake of this magnitude is never excusable and if MLB doesn’t take corrective action it will happen again and again and again
What makes it bad is it’s not correctable. If ejections could be overturned i’d be fine with the mistake if it was owned up to.
@@mbdg6810 you’re 100% right, it can’t be corrected as far as getting Boone back on the field for todays game. But what can happen is MLB can take corrective measures.
So I’m listening to a replay for the Michael Kay show, they read a statement from Wendelstedt. Apparently he has made up his own rules, between that and video replay proving he was 100% wrong. I rescind my previous suggestion of suspension. He has been caught in a lie and also admitted that he doesn’t follow the rules he is paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to enforce. Hunter Wendelstedt needs to be FIRED immediately for cause. The rest of his crew needs to be suspended for a few games and declared ineligible for post season games for one year. They could have corrected this debacle but choose to stand behind this liar and not do their job, that’s why they need to be suspended.
Agreed 100%. Last night watching the BlueJays/Royals game, I didn't notice the umps, but Wendelstedt's actions? Has to be a public reprimand and suspension for Wendelstedt and the crew. If a player can get suspended for touching a ump (remember Edwin Encarnación bumping into Vic Carapazza), it has to go both ways. MLB has to wake up!
Is the right move for Boone to have refused to leave the game, umps call game on forfeit, and let the game get rescheduled after MLB and the umps realize the fuckup?
Hunter Wendlestadt's is one of the more thin skinned umpires. He's a 2nd generation umpire too...I don't know how good his calls are, but this isn't new for Hunter.
Hunter and Angel need to join Joe West in retirement
This shames the Harry Wendelstedt Umpire School. People must think that students are taught, make up your own rules to throw out anyone who sasses you.
When are people going to get that not only is it legal to rig games in this country if you are acting under league directive, but that there's nothing the fans or players can do about it?
FACTS
🤣🤣🤣
This is an utter joke the team can’t control what the fans do and therefore no action should have been taken at the end of the day if you can’t handle the heat get out of the kitchen but the biggest joke is this happened at a game against my former team the Athletics
There is a solution to all of this. They need to have a rating system for umpires. Rated on balls and strikes and calls at the plate/base. At the end of the season the lowest rated umps get sent back down to AAA, and the best rated AAA umps take their place the following season. Obviously the Ump union wont go for it, too bad. Next time their contract is up add this to the contract, and if they dont sign, lock them out and use replacements (who cant be any worse than Angel or some of these other guys). Spend a year with bad replacements to get this right for the future. The stranglehold the Umps union has on the league MUST be broken, at any cost.
It wouldnt hurt if managers like Boone didnt cry and whine about every call
They tossed Gardner once for something he didn’t do
Am i a conspiracy theorist? Umps are in a suicidal path and mlb (owners, which means the same thing) arent saying anything bc in the end, AI will replace them and their salaries dissapear from the books! 🤑
Angel Hernandez has been a meme for years and he’s still around…makes no sense
@@insanehooligan now, his value is tenfold if u intend to replace umps with cheaper AI
Are we really surprised? These are the same guys defending Angel Hernandez.
Are you unfamiliar with how unions work?
@@Schwizzzz I’ve been a teacher for 24 years. So yes, I know how unions are. However, teachers in unions do not always show blind loyalty to their colleagues. I’ve witnessed many teachers throw co-workers under the bus.
@@prOGamer-ul5zc then this shouldn’t be shocking - there are limited number of umpire positions. A hit to one is a hit to all. Especially in a subjective position where they are under threat of losing their job. The union MUST defend itself and its people or else it’s not doing its job. I don’t agree with it, but I understand it. Even an even keeled no name umpire would be pissed at another umpire calling out Angel, and that makes sense to me.
Everyone should boycott baseball and tell Major League Baseball it's because of how bad the umps are. That's the only way anything is going to change. Maybe we need a fans union. Everyone else seems to have one. The fans don't matter at all.
I’m as anti-ump as the next guy, but why is nobody talking about Boone driving an ump to his final straw after a clear hit by pitch 4 pitches into the game? Boone is not completely without fault here.
Reason # 4,567, 892 for robot umps
Rob Manfred has ruined MLB.
From watching fan interference yesterday Rockies vs Mariners to today ventriloquist fan. Fans need to be ejected
Im old, but have the dignity to not stand in the way of fun. We are letting older adults ruin this beautiful game for younger studs that realistically have a very small window of opportunity to excell in a, though amazing, sport that already dictates that your success will only happen about a third of the time. Too old, too white and too male, they say of government...baseball, on the field, has eliminated 1 of the 2 relevant ones. Lets stop crappy umpiring and move toward leveling the 2nd.
Wok baseball
Robo umps baby. Baseball can literally be the only sport without confrontational calls and just choose not to. Human error and framing is “part of the game”. Yea we all tune in the watch framing. Baseball is run like a shit show. Stop living in the past. Baseball is a joke rn. Also keep the A’s in oakland.
MLB Get your shit together! my gawd, I stopped watching, Can't stand the umpires, cancelled my subscription after the angel hernandez shit, whats with the unaccountability these days.
All the cursing by the former mainstream media member on this channel is uncomfortable
Go cry me a river
you're in luck. we'll be on TV soon and i'll stop for ya! I don't get why the mainstream media part matters tho
Boone is always yelling I would have tossed him it's his fault not umpire
Nope it’s objectively the Umps fault for ejecting based on a lie. It’s the Definition of bullshit
Nice bait
Why would any watch these guys. AJ whoever is half paying attention while reading something on his phone. Unprofessional host talking about how umpires are not professional. Makes me laugh.
Because we aren’t all boomers
So quit watching, quit griping, and get your own show
Yet here you are…shut your mouth
No one is making you watch it lol go elsewhere and complain
He is a host of the show and it is unprofessional.
Boone's reputation of constant screaming and ejections led to this. Look at his ejection numbers. Usually a manager has to coach 2-3,000 games to reach as many ejections as Boone has had in under 900. Even in this game, he was warned for conduct after literally 3 pitches. It's not a surprise that soon after, umpire heard more yelling from Boone's area and, given his history and even conduct in this game, he thought it was him and threw him out.
Of course it's bad that the umpire threw him out when he didn't say anything there. But maybe if Boone's reputation was that of a respectfuland rational manager, umpires would be nicer with him and things like this wouldn't happen. Maybe Boone will use this to reflect back on himself and his behavior and change things, stop being so confrontational and disrespectful. I doubt it though.
