First of all, my attraction to Pro dics golf is due to the fact that I've been playing this game forever, like before disc golf was a thing - there is a video of me playing "frisbee" from 1971. I was 6 years old. It's just a tradition for me, it's been with me my whole life. First tournament in disc golf 1981. The players at the professional level are interesting as a group. Each year it changes a little bit and I am always excited by seeing well played disc golf. Surely, Paul Mcbeth is the best disc golfer of all time, but before him it was Ken Climo, an now it is somebody new, but PM could stay on top a few more years. Simon: You have developed from a 'bomber" to an intelligent and mature player, and I always enjoy watching you play. You are consistently at the top of any leaderboard, and I have full confidence in you being a major contributor to disc golf world wide for the next decade. Most of all, I wish for you to be happy in whatever choice you make for the future. Congrats on you having a family - purpose of life 👍
This is one of the best interviews Iv seen in a long time with any disc golfer. Zero production quality, candid, raw, basically uncut, but honest and great questions. I miss this from disc golf 10 years ago, when everything was low budget and just truthful. Everything is now a race to be flashy, super edited, it’s just not necessary for most content. Keep it up!!
I love how honest he was about parenting. How honest he was with his feelings late night, exhausted, and sleep deprived and how his mind and body felt through the process. I don't see Simon other than such a perfect dad, but parenting can be DRAINING and very mentally exhausting.
Well put , I could definitely go along with that . Just have to distinguish between the in person disc golf community and the online community. In person disc golfers are awesome but online they hate everything 🤣 . 🤷♂️
No one really does this , you should be the guy that gets interviews with all the pros like this one that dives deep into the players mind on and off the course 💪💪💪 Gained a new subscriber here 🎉
Best interview of any sport I have watched in years. It could be because Simon is who he is and answers honestly instead of being PC. Thanks for taking it to the next level. 👍👍👍
I’m only 10 mins in and this is a great interview and a great example/ explanation of how and why Simon is the best PERSON in disc golf . ( combination of personality and skill) .. talent combined with humble will always WIN!!!
This was probably the best Simon interview I've seen. For someone so popular it goes to show there is more to know about them and its great. I am a recent dad with a 2-year-old boy and a 4-month girl so trust me this was so relatable and Simon, I get the struggles and your mindset. I am more of a fan after hearing this and thank you for putting it out there!
Nice interview! The clip regarding Simon losing his mind on course, however, is not the event Simon is describing. What he describes is the re-putt (when he missed a put from 3-5 meters and just putted again from the same spot, ending up losing two strokes instead of one.
Great interview bro! quick thought, Getting Deep should be the name of your podcast. I haven't heard any other disc golf podcast get deep like this with anyone and WE NEED MORE! Lol.
As a dad of a now 2 1/2 year old, I completely understand where Simon is coming from with the new dad stuff. Love my little lady more than anything in this world but as a relatively new dad definitely get it
Great job on the interview. You have a very calming and casual approach to the conversation. It's an art form to actively listen, process and follow up with the next logical question...and not feel like you're rattling off questions to push through for content. Howard Stern is like the king of this. Looking forward to more!
This is a great interview! I hope you can continue to do long form interviews with other interesting disc golfers in the future. Keep up the good work!
Great comments Simon. I love the one about having more to lose adds pressure to life. I never really thought about it like that before, but it makes total sense. You still have to live your life though. I can attest to the fact that the older one gets the faster it seems to go. Life is short, and much shorter for some. Great interview and what a great experience to play with Simon. Once in a lifetime experience.
Simon - I generally agree that I "will not miss the baby stage." However, the thought of not being able to snuggle my daughter (2.5 yrs right now), or knowing that there is 'a last time I will pick her up and hold her' hits me to the core. Snuggling up is the best! Philosophically, I have much of the same thoughts.
Simon is an open book. Every first time parent has a sleep deprived moment where they think about throwing the baby off a balcony. You wouldn’t actually do it, but you are so tired, all you want is a little quiet and some sleep. It just is what it is.
Thank you Simon for sharing with us. Pretty uncommon. Its one of the things that separates you from other professionals ..... your ability to speak (and act) like a real person. It matters.
i need to know one thing: do he miss having the TILT in the bag?? it's my favorite disc because it enables be to take stupid chances because i know i have my "get out of jail" disc stuck in trees i can throw it tomahawk or roller out of the woods....
With MVP, I have liked them for the last few years easy, own a few of them, and it felt like the niche manufacturer of disc golf, kind of wondered why no one else threw them....now i guess it won't be so niche now that Simon is involved! lol
About the thumbnails...I noticed a long time ago that videos with Simon's name in the title or Simon's picture in the thumbnail would get more views and more comments in less time than any other disc golf related content on UA-cam. Mentioning Simon is like a cheat code/loophole/shortcut to getting more views. More views = more revenue...and people will only stop beating that dead horse when it stops spitting out money.
As a father and husband, I can tell these are the things that stress Simon out. Balancing a career that wants to take all of your time and having a new young family at the same time.
I was retiring, when simone showed up at his first usdgc, some unknown to me, and I knew everyone, and climo picked him on are pick a team money match . He said, my next pick, the German kid, simone, yall will know him before long. So I followed, his scores wasn't no big deal, but I seen his tools, and was like, its good time to retire.
Eh. I wanted real questions lol. Pizza hut or Domino's. Favorite burger chain. Favorite number on the dart board to hit. What moment as a disc golfer made you the angriest. Favorite muscle car or dream car growing up. Favorite subject in school. How has disc golf made you a better person and how has it maybe made you worse or toxic if at all. Lol.
Thanks for the time Simon. The time missing the kid stage for us men is the whole 4 years until after high school and they move out. Only moms miss the baby stage. For me having children did change my life, while getting married really did not.
i think Simon doesn't have that drive he talks about for winning a Major because he so loves playing disc golf -- if he was that driven it wouldn't be as fun. i also think play is the highest expression of being human and Simon has that great talent for play. that said, i think he will get a major this year.
I can verify that a daughter changes you. I can also verify that I DO NOT MISS my girls being babies. However, now that they are teenagers, I do miss them being 3-9ish when they thought I was cool and funny and wise… Now they think I’m a.. well a lot of things I’m not gonna put on the internet.

.. and for the "beeing a parent" thing, it's just your duty to do well as a parent. You don't have to like it

Props to Simon for being a real person and saying what he’s really thinking
Paul is the face of pro disc golf. Simon is the face of the disc golf community.
Well put , I could definitely go along with that . Just have to distinguish between the in person disc golf community and the online community. In person disc golfers are awesome but online they hate everything 🤣 . 🤷♂️
Simon and Paul are the faces of disc golf but that's cute anyway
I never comment on videos, But this was great more interviews like this please
Thanks! I am actively trying to get a media pass and be at events this year so I hope I can do more!
simon is a disc golf zen guru, thanks for the time and energy you spent on securing/capitalizing-on this opportunity
No one really does this , you should be the guy that gets interviews with all the pros like this one that dives deep into the players mind on and off the course 💪💪💪 Gained a new subscriber here 🎉

An hour with my fave disc golfer! That was awesome, thx guys!
1 HOUR?? Wtf thank you I cannot wait! Love these long podcast interviews they are my fav thing everrr!! Gonna listen while I putt lol
Nice interview! The clip regarding Simon losing his mind on course, however, is not the event Simon is describing. What he describes is the re-putt (when he missed a put from 3-5 meters and just putted again from the same spot, ending up losing two strokes instead of one.

Congrats on the new kiddo Simon and family !!
You’re definitely becoming a mature father.
Great interview, I very much enjoyed this. I’m glad y’all are friends and you could sit us down with Simon. ❤️🥏
This guy is a really good interviewer. Minimal leading questions, and most importantly, he shuts the hell up and let's the interviewee talk.
Enjoyed this allot! Thank you Simon and wild runs for this hour of your life!
Glad you enjoyed it
Laying it all out on the line on the course and on the mic is how you become the face of disc golf.
42:15-43:28 this needs to be intro to the internet for like all of humanity
This is solid asf content well done!
Simon is always a great interview. Really enjoyed this
As a dad of a now 2 1/2 year old, I completely understand where Simon is coming from with the new dad stuff. Love my little lady more than anything in this world but as a relatively new dad definitely get it

Props to Simon for consistently showing the people that he is genuine and just a normal human.
Great interview - just reaffirms my belief that Simon is the coolest athlete of all time
Simply awesome! Genuine Simon cementing his legacy at the pinnacle of the sport.
This is a great interview! I hope you can continue to do long form interviews with other interesting disc golfers in the future. Keep up the good work!
This was nice. Good on ya Simon! All is dads out here can only try our best! Keep it up young man
Loved this! The chillness and how calm and casual it was really did it for me. Also perfect length for a podcast/interview!
Great comments Simon. I love the one about having more to lose adds pressure to life. I never really thought about it like that before, but it makes total sense. This is sick!!! Thank you brother! 🫡🤝🏻🔪🖤
Quite good interview & questions! 👍
I like your interviews man.

Love this!
Enjoyed the entire hour...
Great work !

Great interview! Wait until you're 50 to start complaining about body aches and pains Simon! 😁
Thank you Simon for sharing with us. Pretty uncommon. Its one of the things that separates you from other professionals ..... your ability to speak (and act) like a real person. It matters.
Get mic arms. They aren't expensive. Simon is the best, good interview.
Thanks! I have some but I was 1000 miles from home 😂 so couldn’t really bring them with me
Great interview, don’t know which pixel Simon uses? Firm, medium or soft?
Resonate with everything Simon said about kids
i need to know one thing: do he miss having the TILT in the bag?? it's my favorite disc because it enables be to take stupid chances because i know i have my "get out of jail" disc stuck in trees i can throw it tomahawk or roller out of the woods....
This is why i think Simon needs to stay in Massachusetts. It forces him to not overdo it in the off-season heh.
1:05:00 I sure miss the school days, being peak performance mainly having 100% fun and no responsibility
Beautiful
So the microphone Simon used didnt work right?
With MVP, I have liked them for the last few years easy, own a few of them, and it felt like the niche manufacturer of disc golf, kind of wondered why no one else threw them....now i guess it won't be so niche now that Simon is involved! lol

“Do your part. Pay your taxes, make a kid” - Simon 😂
simon easter egg i got from this was who is mvp going to plan and sign next year?!
I really hope that Jordan Peterson is one the people Simon was referring to near the end of the video....
You need a full frame lens. Looks like you have a 4/3 lens on full frame camera
mo money, mo problems

He is NOT the face of disc golf. The interviewer is drooling.
Simon and Paul are the faces of disc golf but that's cute anyway

Pizza hut or Domino's.
Favorite burger chain.
Favorite number on the dart board to hit.
What moment as a disc golfer made you the angriest.
