- Germany is the premier country in Europe for roller coasters. You can find airtime machines like Expedition GeForce, highly themed thrill coasters like Taron, and even some notable wood coasters like Wodan. So in this video, I rank the top 40 German coasters.

#1 Taron for me, hands down. I dont get when people say this is a tame family coaster. To be honest, my first ride on Taron kicked more in then any ride i had so far on Zadra or Schwur des Kernan. Only love for that beautiful masterpiece.
100%. Apart from CoasterDash calling Taron a family-thrill coaster, who else thinks it's a tame family coaster? To be fair it's not the most intense for sure, but that's not what the ride is about anyway.
ive been on taron many times and it’s got some nice theming but the layout is honestly a bit tame and uninspired. I wish they would have added a couple of inversions and some stronger airtime moments.
entitled, self aggrandizing coaster enthusiasts say it's a tame family coaster because nothing short of X2 can please them when it comes to intensity
@@Marty_NZ Considering Taron a tame family coaster is actually quite common, in my experience, among young North American enthusiasts, starting the trend with Canada Coaster Fan. I suspect they may be influencing each other over the years, affecting expectations. But I don’t think that explains everything. It’s all subjective so I’m not saying anyone’s right or wrong, but for me Taron is anything but tame. It’s a crazy ride with wild and unique thrills.
@@StamfordBridge there's probably some truth in that theory. What do you think about Silver Star over Taron though. I call that crazy talk. I've heard Silver Star is a weak hyper, but I was well impressed with it and loved it, however still a tier or two below Taron for me lol. Obi-Wan Canobie must have had a disturbance in the force when doing that ranking.
I‘m just 16 years old so I only got 30 counts so far. But I was able to ride some of the best coasters here in Germany. My #1 undoubtedly is Expedition GeForce. I love that airtime. Fly takes #2, an amazing ride from start to finish. After that I‘m not sure, though Taron, Black Mamba and Wodan are all candidates for #3.
Nice!
looks you never visited Hansa Park so far?^^
I've only seen Phantasialand in Germany, but every coaster at that park is world class.
That park is amazing.
Raik is an okay family boomerang. It's stunning how it fits in next to Taron. Crazy Bats with the VR overlay is quite nice but the coaster is pretty lackluster. Besides these two the other coasters are definitely world class.
@@UwePieper I found Raik to be pretty intense for a family coaster in the first half, and crazy bat had few pops of airtime in the back seats and pretty intense turns and helixes. And during my visit in 2022 the vr quality was really good
@@CanobieCoaster I absolutely agree. I'm planning to go back there as soon as possible. Especially to have multiple rides on F.L.Y. beacuse after my first ride in the morning it broke down and it never reopened for the rest of the day
@@park.therapy Crazy Bats lives from the stunning VR. Its literally the best VR on a coaster ever. As far as Raik is concerned, this is a pretty intense Family-Boomerang...It holds 2 world records...
But the real strength of Phantasialand truely are the top3 coasters, F.L.Y., Taron and Black Mamba. Such a strong top3 coasters you find rarely anywhere in any park all over the world.
All 3 coasters glassy smooth, even Black Mamba. All 3 coasters have the most immersive theming i have ever seen outside a Disney Park. All 3 coasters have amazing layouts, which are hard to follow, since they all are so intertwined with scenery, and itself. All 3 coasters/areas, where they are in have incredible soundtracks. And last but not least, all 3 coasters have tons of crazy head-/legchoppers/near miss effects.
I feel like FLY is a bit overrated. I’ve been to Europa Park, Hansa Park and Phantasialand and Schwur Des Karnan is by far the best for me and Taron is 2. I hope to get on Expedition G-Force next time I’m in Germany
I love FLY for the unique ride system and setting.
As a German I like your Ranking but have a few different opinions.
My Top 10 is:
1 Kärnan
2 Taron
3 Colossos
4 Novgorod
5 Flug der Dämonen
6 Fly
7 Blue Fire
8 Silver Star
9 Star Trek
10 Black Mamba
(I have not ridden GeForce yet)
Definitely try to get on GeForce when you can. The airtime is spectacular.
It's always interesting how opinions are different
My top 10 in germany as some who lives here is:
1: Kärnan
2: Fluch von Novgorod
3: Geforce
4: Colossos
5: FLY
6: Flug der Dämonen
7: Karacho
8: Winjas ( I love spinning coasters)
9: Desert Race
10: Black Mamba (I prefer black mamba to taron because it feels like the ride interacts more with the theming, especially the near misses)
I'm guessing Hansa Park is your favorite park there.
Lol, you really don't like Taron
As a german i can confirm that these are good coasters.
So many great rides!
I am surprised about krake because oblivion is way to short its just a turn after the drop
Oblivion has a far better drop going in that long tunnel.
I can’t wait to visit Germany this summer! Taron looks definitely the most standout to me
It's an excellent ride.
Ranking Silver Star over Taron is as controversial as Airtime Thrills ranking Wicked Cyclone over Iron Gwazi. I think you guys are starting to play with us. While I don't agree with many of these rankings, It's still a good list.
I almost put Taron ahead of Colossos, but Silver Star is definitely better than both those rides.
@@CanobieCoaster I loved Silver Star, but loved Taron way more. Maybe it was the theming that threw me off? Found Taron to be better than RtH and EGF too. Can you do a B&M Hyper model ranking video for us please? Would love to see how you rank them, especially since i'm now intrigued how much you like Silver Star, unless you've already made such a video? Haven't looked yet, but can't remember watching it if you did.
@@CanobieCoaster Oh you have actually in 2020! Ok, Silver Star at number 8 and Apollo's Chariot at number 3. Come on man. lol
I’d put these coasters in a wildly different order, but I really enjoyed this video, and I’ll probably watch it several times. Especially as I’ll be in the area again this summer.
Thanks!
F.L.Y. is a masterpiece and I totally agree with its ranking. Even though I grew up in Germany, you have ridden many more coasters there than I. I'll do my best to catch up with you! 😀
It's an amazing country.
@@CanobieCoaster yea, 3rd best country for roller coasters, behind China and of course USA
You should rank all the traveling coasters you've ridden. That would give me an idea of what coaster is better on a fair circuit.
I plan to make that one.
Oh boy am I glad to see Freischütz on there. Yeah it's rattly, but I'm used to it. One of my fav coasters. Great floating feeling in the top hat and grey outs in the low curving dips and tight turns. Thank you for including it.
If it was smooth, it would have been near the top 10.
@@CanobieCoaster Maybe I am a bit of a masochist, but I prefer a little bit of slapping around. Makes it feel alive. I'm weird like that idk.
Btw the park is getting a new family coaster by an unknown manufacturer with a switchtrack in the concept art.
Greetings from Cologne, Germany, next to Phantasialand ;)
Hello there!
Great video dude.
But I think you need to revisit Europa-Park for Voltron, probably your new Nr.1 :D
I have been back for Voltron and made a full review. Love that ride!
@@CanobieCoaster guess I have to watch that video
If I am lucky, I will ride almost 30 coasters in this list this summer! Wish me luck 😉
Good luck!
I personally would have ranked Krake a lot higher because I love its theming, but I know I rank it higher than most other people. But what really surprised me was Flucht von Novgorod. 16 seems really low to me, I'd probably put it Top 5 in Germany. It's just the whole package, with theming and a good number of awesome ride elements. It even has one of the best exit lines in the world, what more can you ask for? :D
Krake just doesn't have the full ride like the other dives, which hurts it for me. Still fun though.
FLY over Taron, Kärnan, Wodan, Colossos and GeForce. That, my man, is a capital T Take. Respect for not bending to popular opinion. Of course, the top coaster in Germany we are all ignoring is, of course, Bandit.
(checks notes)
Oh, sorry, I meant to say "bottom coaster". My bad.
Bandit isn't at the bottom. Probably Limit would take that honor.
@@CanobieCoaster Limit wasn't too bad for me. The Movie Park SLC was way worse. I guess it differes per day.
for me mpg studio tour is really underrated
It's a fun ride.
Desert Race, Blue Fire, Silver Star and Stark Trek over Novgorod is insane
Personal preference.
I think it's difficult to compare different types of coasters and to determine a ranking. But one thing is certain: Toxic Garden (formerly Limit) would be on last place for me. This Vekoma SLC hits so hard!
But one famous coaster is missing: Olympia Looping from showman Barth! Not a park coaster, but a coaster that travelled in Germany and that is now travelling between Vienna, Munich and London. I hope this five loop coaster will come back to some big fairgrounds in Germany 🙂
I agree it is subjective. Alpina Bahn and Olympia Looping both deserved spots if I included portable coasters.
Now this is it, the best coaster country in Europe. Between Colossus, Expedition GeForce, Karnan, I'm not even going ri finish it. There are SO many. With nearly 270 coasters in this country and so many fantastic parks, I think this might be the second best country in the world for coasters.
It's such a strong country.
3rd best actually, i would rank Chinas coaster-lineup a little higher than germanys
@@KingJohnson1985 agreed. I feel that china is definitely better in quantity but Germany is better in quality. However China has a crap ton of good coasters too

3. Expedition Geforce
4. Taron
5. Colossos
Nice list!
I know three similar types of roller coaster sensations, bumpy, rough, and shaky, and what are the differences between, bumpy, rough, and shaky?
Those are all types of roughness.
Canobie Coaster would say on Schwur des Kärnan:
The one downside with this coaster is that it has developed a nasty shuffle. This got noticeably worse between my 2019 and 2022 rides. I still love this coaster, but it became...
A) More rerideable now
B) Similarly rerideable now
C) Less rerideable now

Canobie Coaster said:
F.L.Y is my favorite. Limit/Toxic Garden is probably the worst in the country.
What your second favorite ride and what your second least favorite ride in the country?
This video covers my favorites. Limit and MP-Xpress are the bottom two (MP-Xpress is worse than Limit. I forgot about that one initially).
Taron is the best
I prefer FLY at the same park.
Canobie Coaster would say on Schwur des Karnan at Hansa Park:
I still love this coaster, but it's very difficult to reride now. Why, based on its reliability?
It is very shaky.
thank you for FLY nr.1, it's my all time favorite coaster i've done (wich fair enough isn't that incredably many but hey it's still something).
It's just so daym fun, smooth quirky and verry rerideble so it just feels about as perfect as it gets in my opinion
It's an amazing experience.
See in RCDB: Iron Claw at Movie Park Germany. Based on how it currently runs, what would you think to ride it again?
I hate that ride.
In Germany I have only been to Movie Park, Heide Park and Phantasialand
Fun parks.
See in RCDB, do you know something called Iron Claw? What do you think?
Yes, that's an awful SLC.
Europa Park has a structure that resembles Spaceship Earth. The park shall be renamed to EuroCOT due to the similar somewhat spherical structure.
Lol that would be something.
I was really exited to try fly but in my opinion Its not very good, it just made me very nauseous and i defenitly prefer Taron, GeForce and Collosos over it
I like FLY, but I know some find it uncomfortable.
totally on F.L.Y. for the number 1
I love it.
What do you think? Did you ever come off something in Germany disappointed?
Taron was a bit underwhelming for its reputation, but still wonderful.
What was your favorite coaster in Germany and what your least favorite coaster in Germany, of the all you've ridden in Germany?
F.L.Y. is my favorite. Limit/Toxic Garden is probably the worst in the country.
i don't realy understand why is FLY so high. it's not a bod coaster, but it's far away from taron, to me, fly is rated a bit up than black mamba but not higher. the lanch is not nat good, the coaster is way to loong and the only things we do it's awaiting for the inversion that are increadibles
I like FLY's length, visuals, and forces.
I think it's funny that many people here in Germany think that only the US has good coasters and the parks here are only for kids. But in my opinion, our coaster collection has developed fantastically, especially in the recent years 👍🏻
Germany's lineup is no slouch, especially if you like themed rides.
How many roller coasters in total are there in Germany? What do you think?
I think none of them look like abominations. Do you think there are or were abominations? Or do you think there are one, two, or three abominations?
See RCDB. The SLCs are bad.
my Top 3 are a bit different than yours, but the same coasters:
3. Expedition G-Force
2. F.L.Y.
1. Kärnan
Is GeForce or Karnan your favorite. Both said 3.
@@CanobieCoaster oh, lol, my bad, its Kärnan.
But i agree on everything you said over F.L.Y. just a unique sensation this thing is...
And btw did you notice, they made the supports look rusty to fit in even more into the theme of Rookburgh?^^
Did you ever leave something in Germany breathless?
Yes, their best rides.
Did you ever come off something in Germany with a headache?
Yes, the SLCs.
Well we defintly like some other things in coasters but i do think we got about the same 40 just in a slightly differnt order except for the number 20 on youre list is on my shitlist mainy because everytime i rode it i got a pair of bruised balls. If you didn't get it then yes its about there i guess. Also i don't know if mammut would have made the top 40 that thing is boring.
Collossus and Siver streak are definetly not in my top 10 but thats where we just like differnt elements so i can understand why you like them.
I know I have Silver Star higher than most, but I love that ride.
@@CanobieCoaster I would like to ride it with the trim break off that would put it up a couple of places. Well this spring i should be there again maybe i just got bad luck on the couple of rides i did on it.
And i know the feeling about loving a ride for me its Taron.
Taron at night is number 1
Looks amazing lit up.
Mammut has lost its smoothness entirely xD
It was running smooth in 2021.
How many other coasters in the world did you get rides with the last ones being less tolerable?
Not sure. It has happened a few times.
Now it's time for me to flex with my German keyboard: üöä
öhh, lets flex with my German keyboard too: ドイツ
That would've come in handy for this video.
So what would you rate Blue Fire at Europa Park?
See my review.
Mammut was the first (and sadly only up to now, looking to fix that) proper roller coaster I ever rode, and that first drop got me GOOD!
That drop is great.
@@CanobieCoaster In hindsight, it probably is really enjoyable when you are here for it, but for myself, maybe 10 at the time, and my unsuspecting mother, it was a little intense. I am now looking at potentially going back to tripsdrill in the future, especially with the new stuff added!
I was confused at Mammut, because you said "german built". Technicly correct but is just was expecting "Gerstlauer" xD
BTW: My #1 is still "Schweizer Bobbahn - Heidepark". I just love Mack Bobsled Coasters.
Bobbahn is my favorite bobsled, but it still can't beat the wilder rides for me.
The most painful coaster for you was Mammut at Erlebnispark Tripsdrill?
Was Silver Star the best hyper coaster for you in Europe?
No to both.
Have you ever considered doing a countdown of each European country based on roller coasters? Germany would be #1, but what's #2, 3, 4, and so on?
I've thought about it. May be tricky since I haven't hit all the countries.
I've only been to Europa Park so i can't comment on most of these, but i will say i was shockingly surprised at how intense Euromir was backwards. I came off sweating and quite dizzy
Euromir has some nice power.
I was about to post a fiery comment on why G-Forces should be number one than I remembered that F.L.Y. wasn't on the list yet and the acceptance kicked in. Good list. I really have to get to Hansa Park one day to ride Kärnan und Flucht von Novgorod one day too.
Karnan 2019 also would have beaten GeForce.
@@CanobieCoaster 😤😤
My family is getting our german citizenships very soon, and when we do we will do a big trip to Germany! I’m hoping to make it out to many of these coasters, they look fantastic 😁
Enjoh!
F.L.Y. 😉
Love that ride!
I was asking if you know something called Iron Claw. Based on how it currently runs and the trains, what would you think to ride it again?
I won't ride that again with the current trains.
I feel like oblivion is the weakest dive
The drop is the best of any dive, which elevates it for me.
@@CanobieCoaster oh alright
The design of fly is insane but the track of schwur des kärnan is unbeatable
Karnan is wilder.
For me Colossos is #1
It's a fantastic ride.
I would like to see more Vekoma suspended looping coasters being installed, and still with the old trains.
Not me.
Kärnan
GeForce
Taron
Colossos (old)
Fly
Karacho
Fluch von Novgorod (but only back then, when I was too small to get headbanging lol)
Silver Star
Hals über Kopf
Star Trek
It's interesting how different the rankings of non germans and germans are.
Blue fire, Fly and Silver Star are usually way higher on your list if you are not a german coaster enthusiast
Why do you think locals aren't as big on FLY?
@@CanobieCoaster Fly is the only coaster of it's kind worldwide that provides that kind of ride experience. But in germany coasters like Taron or Geforce are the only coasters of it's kind in a big area too so they are probably as rare as Fly because people don't have ridden Maverick, Taiga or any RMC that outclasses the intensity and airtime of Geforce and Taron. If somebody has to decide if he wants Taron or Fly as the only coaster he can ever ride almost anyone would chose Taron because it features a more aggressive and intense ride experience with more bite to it.
But if you have ridden a bunch of RMCs and other intamins Fly offers something you have never seen before, that's why anyone with a high coaster count ranks Fly higher than other german coasters
Kärnan developed a rattle since 2019? Rode it back then. Loved it, but the rattle was already quite unpleasant. Hope it's mostly depending on the wheels and it changes with those 😇
Btw audio issue at 21:22
The issue at 21:22 was intentional. I had misspoken and that was the one way to take it out. Sadly Karnan got much rougher in those 3 years.
I hope Hansa Park does all they can to keep Karnan in the best condition possible
Great Ranking! I only would put Flucht von Novgorod over Star Trek and Desert Race. And also Silver Star and Colossos below Taron
To each their own. I know I'm a bit lower on Taron and Flucht than some.
@@CanobieCoaster Well I grew Up With Novgorod (which was my First big coaster) and Taron at nightrides is Just an experience Out of this world
Where is wodan?
#7
@@CanobieCoaster Sorry didn't see it! 😬
Very nice video! Maybe you could do this with Spain?
I already made one for Spain a while back.
@@CanobieCoaster Oh I may have mixed up another youtuber with you. I think I’ve watched it already.
Euro Mir is my favorite roller-coaster I've ever rode, next to Silver Star.💖 It's a bit janky but the forces r awesome and the sound track is always getting me in a good mood.🙃 (Btw I live in Germany, if u want to know. 😅)
Euro-Mir is one of a kind.
@@CanobieCoaster its a prototype, like many coasters in Europa Park, because this park is owned by the Mack-Family, of their 13 coasters 11 were build by Mack Rides. So its not surprising that they have some prototypes. Blue Fire also is a prototype, but since its an amazing coaster, this prototype has been cloned several times.
Will you make a list of the best traveling coasters?
I plan to.
There are so so many amazing coasters there that it’s honestly very hard to decide which one is the best
There are several top candidates.
I pretty much agree with that List :D i have ridden pretty much everything in Germany except for the Coasters at Europapark, but i dont really feel the need to ride silver star and bluefire when i rode Hyperion and Helix. Wodan looks super cool tho, i will go once Voltron opens
Silver Star offers a much different ride than Hyperion, focusing on floater airtime.
@@CanobieCoaster i can imagine that, i would rather try shambala was my First B&M hyper tho :D most people i know didnt find silver that exiting
@@clubstep8244 rightfully so...Silver Star is somewhere in my Top 20, despite being together with Kärnan the fastest and tallest coaster in germany, yes Silver Star is an airtime machine, but thats pretty much it...I prefer a variety of forces. Silver Star is lacking in cracking positives as well as in laterals. Kärnan for example, which is my number one, offers a better 1st drop, maybe the best first drop in all of germany, is much whippier, so much stronger on laterals, and thanks to the low above the ground layout this coaster is relentlessly fast. Also some of the strongest ejector airtime in germany. Silver Star has none of these qualities. Despite being out of your seat for about 20 seconds in total.
@@KingJohnson1985 Yes Kärnan is one hell of a ride. Kickass coaster. I would argue that Expedition GeForce has stronger Airtime and maybe a drop that is as good (mainly because of the longer train) tho :D
@@clubstep8244 That one Airtime Hill on the backside, which is taken quite fast and isnt really high above the ground and very sharp for the speed you travel with provides such strong ejector Airtime, i doubt Expedition can top that, however, i will see it next year, when i rode Geforce xD
1:21 Mammut Was Build By Gerstlauer 🙂
Only the trains were built by Gerstlauer. RCDB lists Cordes Holzbau as the manufacturer. I think they're a wood company, apparently they've also helped with the construction of El Toro (the german one) and Colossos
Nevermind they made the pre-fabricated track for Great Adventure's El Toro
That’s incorrect, and Stop Typing Like This
I think Gerstlauer helped but another company did most of the work.
21:20 Klugheim looks so great... It almost looks like Rookburgh :)
A very rare mistake from the very careful Canobie Coaster!
Whoops, thanks for pointing that out. I have an edit processing that'll correct that.

Limit is super rough.
I was asking you, see in RCDB, but do you know something called Toxic Garden? And imagine riding it again, what would you think?
Not with the current trains.
Shuffle. Usually do you like shuffling roller coasters and smooth roller coasters in the world? With those sensations of shuffling and smooth, do you like both, do you prefer shuffling or do you prefer smooth?
I prefer smooth in most cases.
What would you rate Star Trek: Operation Enterprise at Movie Park Germany?

Some are bad like Iron Claw.
What would you rate Big Loop at Heide Park?
