A few points.- I can say that the pine tree leaving Grandchester was still standing in 2019. - I have worked C17 974 as both a Fireman & Driver with QR Heritage. - A10 No.6 is still operational housed at Ipswich - BG 1009 is a Static Display at Ipswich Workshops Museum. And - BB18 1/4 1077 is at the Waltzing Matilda Centre in Winton. Loved seeing footage of the Toowoomba range, it's amazing how must the bush has grown, since this film. Cheers Adrian
QR infrastructure is an integral feature in the texture of the Brisbane landscape. Wood and wire fences, pedestrian bridges, embankments, tunnels and track. But it all was more rough round the edges and spartan in the 1960s and most of the 1970s even after steam ended in 1973. The Zig Zag railway at Lithgow can give one the experience of what it was like except of course the setting which can't be replicated on the western edge of the Blue Mountains.
Many thanks To Eric Nickelson and yourself for making this film available and sharing,,,, some awesome footage double headers and the garret etc,,,, many thanks ,,,,,,
Many thanks for bringing this archival footage to light. Unfortunately, technology in that era was not as it is today, and good movies are rare. Photographers have earned heart-felt thanks, for preserving the scene.
