The only thing I disagree about “going out tonight” and doing fun things, is that you missed a crucial scene where coraline and her mother had some development. Coraline was mad for not getting the gloves and the mom says , something along the lines of If things go well today I promise to make it up to you. And coraline didn’t believe her because that’s what the mom always says. The mom looked genuinely sad and I think that’s why she changed her actions in the end of the movie compared to how she was in the beginning.
It’s not that the mom felt bad, their magazine got accepted so they had money now. The thing is Coraline (and the kids watching) don’t understand money isn’t infinite. They *just* moved. They were definitely strapped for cash and working to earn their first payday since moving.

3:10 something medieval is going on in the town and it's a Shakespear festival. When the boys are going down the stairs they quote some Shakespear line about Death, or Time or something like that which gives us more evidence that Coraline might be in a simulation after that first night.
Here’s my theory (well it’s more of an idea but whatever): What if they made a Coraline 2, and in it, it starts off as Coraline waking up in her bed, but when she goes downstairs there is something off about her parents, they start to want to go out and do fun things with her, so Coraline doesn’t feel safe with them because of their behaviour, and later on she finds out that the whole time she’s been back from the other world, she hasn’t been with her ACTUAL parents, and they are really just creations of Beldam. Beldam somehow comes back and she can go into the real world now. Back to the creations, they are smarter and stronger, and Beldam has become smarter and stronger aswell. She captures Coraline again, except this time Wybie comes with her to investigate. They both get caught and are put into the mirror. But now there are more souls, 3 more souls than last time. They help Coraline and Wybie to escape but they come across the cat, except the cat is on Beldam’s side (She made him work with her) and tries to get them without hurting them. They end up running away but they find ANOTHER door. This means that the old door is gone, (the one they came in through) and there is a new door now. The door leads to the Between. Between the real world and the other world. In the Between, all the houses and objects are normal, everything. Like the Real world….except for the people. There are people who Coraline loves, but they have become monsters, they want to capture Coraline as well, (just a quick heads up, Coraline is the victim in this because everyone thinks she’s special in a way, except for the people HELPING her). Coraline finds the Real world. But she’s been in the Other world too many times that everyone is gone in the real world. The only people there are Coraline’s parents. They are gone though…There’s nothing she can do about it. But she finds her parents crawling into the Between. She tries to stop them but they don’t notice her. The door SLAMS behind them and the door disappears. Then Coraline 3 comes along! (I’m not explaining the story of Coraline 3 😭✌️) anyways sorry it’s so long. It might be confusing but again, it’s just an idea. Bye!
The beldam made an illusion of coraline’s parents being abusive; she used that to her advantage so she could portray herself as the best mom ever so coraline would go to the other world more so she can kill her
This one girl did a complete breakdown on this theory based on scenes from the book as well. I wish I could remember her channel name, I feel like these two videos would work well together because they both cover such interesting details
I have no evidence, this is just a guess. But I believe the Beldam tricked Coraline, making her think her parents are trapped, to make her come back. When in reality, they might've never been trapped, but it's a risky guess because the "cat" has devoted it's life to protect kids, it's hard to believe he'd sacrifice ONE child who's 100% gonna live for three who are already dead, but might get freed 🤔🤔 I dunno, its just a guess so don't start a war or anything 😅
Or maybe Coraline is just schizophrenic, but probably not because her parents would know and have her on medication or AT LEAST treat her better. Another guess is that the Beldam made Coraline see an hallucination, ykyk and at the end of the movie they put the key in the well, which was called "A Portal to another world" or something at the start I think, so they probably just gave the key back 😭😭

The Coraline Parent Theory is a fan theory that suggests that the "Other Mother" in the film Coraline is a representation of the neglectful and abusive parents of the protagonist, Coraline. The theory points to several clues throughout the film that suggest this interpretation, such as the fact that the Other Mother initially appears to be loving and caring, but quickly becomes controlling and manipulative. This could symbolize how abusive parents can often appear to be loving at first, but gradually reveal their true colors over time. Additionally, the Other Mother is physically represented as a tall, thin figure with exaggerated features, which could be a metaphor for the larger-than-life presence that abusive parents can have in a child's life. Furthermore, the Other Mother's desire to "sew buttons" over Coraline's eyes could symbolize the way that abusive parents can try to control and silence their children, preventing them from seeing the truth of their situation. Overall, the Coraline Parent Theory suggests that the film is not just a dark fantasy tale, but a representation of the very real horrors that some children face in abusive households. It serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of neglectful and abusive parenting, and the importance of recognizing and addressing these issues before they escalate.
Honestly that could make a good sequel where Coraline realizes slowly that she isn't in her real world and that her parents are still in the other world and she needs to go and get the key from the tunnel but you got to be hard because ain't no way why are you going to actually help her out of the tunnel when she gets the key back because the other mother would not want her to go back to the other world because if she did and she did actually you know get her parents free from the other mothers grass and find the real exit then the other mother would have no way of ever becoming stronger because there would be no human children coming in because Coraline would find a way to destroy the key once and for all and also she should probably put concrete on the door to make sure that nobody can actually open it even when the other mother does her magical thing and suddenly the brick wall disappears
