Thank you for posting this video. I have a 1948 Pacific Bell telephone that has been in my family since 1949 and has been my only landline since 1984 but unfortunately when they converted the phone lines about 20 years ago it stopped working so I only have had cell phones since. The phone company told me that the old pulse phones could no longer be used and my only option was to buy a new phone. I could still receive phone calls but just not dial out so I discontinued service. But recently a neighbor of mine bought a 40 year old phone as a novelty and it had been converted and he showed me he could dial out with it. He said the phone had to be dissected and rebuilt with new components to work on modern lines but it looks like someone has invented something to make them work now without all that trouble.

I'm sorry, I'm sure you hear this often, but I love your accent. I could listen to you read a phone book

I have heard that many times, i cant hear what you or them hear, i asked my child, & they were unable to confirm my accent, but i believe i do, because I have heard that before. Thank you for the kind words.

Could you have an upstairs and downstairs phone on the same converter? They would be on the same line anyway.

This extra device seems just to be a puls-to-tone adapter.
Does the phone also ring from this converter or is it just diel out ?

Norbert Rosendahl rings, dials, works like any other phone, fun to see kids try to dial a #

      mtandiz Thanks for the answer.
I was just a littlebit worried if the converter also generates the 90v 25Hz supply for the bell.
But if you say so, than this also will be my choise of equipment.
      Thanks

Just get you a crimper tool and put a modular plug on it. You only need two of the wires. The other two were for a second line.

Hi I’m still confused 🤷‍♀️ if the fios router is in my husbands office and I want a rotary phone in another room...how do I connect it? Am I plugging the converter into the router in his office? But how would o have the phone in my office upstairs? Ty

    • @mtandiz
      @mtandiz  3 роки тому

You would have to run a telephone line from the router, where the phone connection is, to the rotary phone. I believe the converter could be connected on either side.

We don't have a pulse to tone converter yet, but when we hook up our old rotary phone to our Spectrum phone service, the ringtone is super quiet (not getting enough power). Does the pulse to tone converter fix this issue at all?

Can you tell me, did you run the analog to digital converter through a wireless modem for home phone service or plug it into the wall jack?

    • @mtandiz

Back then, I connected the phone to my spectrum isp provided modem / WiFi/ router with phone jack / connection. Now I use google phone, using an OBi 200 adapter.

@@derpinbird1180 Yes there is one that is designed for VOIP voltage lines. My Dialgizmo I bought from company in Austrailia connects my 1960 Bell Rotary to my Spectrum Modem/Phone Line Combo and so far has been 100% reliable. We bought a "gossip table" from the 1950s. Basically a small telephone desk to put it on. My 3 young daughters love sitting and calling people on it. They say its so much cooler than their smartphones. Who would've guessed lol
