    8:08 Say that to Sniper Wolf. All she does is react a little and she's still monetized 😂 UA-cam protects the high ranking creators because they're the main cash cows. As for the small channels, you're on point.

      Yes, there are definitely exceptions😊. I've seen channels succeed in all of these niches. But, as you say, the ones who succeed are usually bigger channels who've been on the platform for a long time. As for small channels, it's difficult to grow in these niches. That said, it's still possible🙂.

    She’s right about the faceless channels. Unless you can really highlight your channel showing it’s not AI and it’s genuine.

    I am also Afrikaans and I can say with great certainty, my English is much worse than yours. Infact I only knew you where Afrikaans becuase of your sir name and stil I wasn't 100% sure. Speaking bad English was a hurdle for me to overcome but I made it part of the fun saying things like "ag sorry my English ran out today" my viewers loved me for it. and now making videos every day my English has improved drastically. No longer afraid to speak English on a camera. Turn those weaknesses into strong points.

    Question: What is considered enough traction? I started a gaming channel in Feb of -24. I'm based in Sweden, which makes it an uphill battle to begin with, but is 354 subs not enough traction?
    Personally I feel that's massive growth for my standpoint but I also do not have anything else to compare it with. I'm feeling super proud of my progress and how far I've come (I held off for 10 years before starting..), but this video made me feel very bad about myself and my progress, so I just wanted to ask..

      @@KahliTheNerd I'm sorry, it was never my intention to make anyone feel bad about their channels💜 A gaming channel can still work. As I mentioned, anyone of these niches can still work. They'll likely just take longer to grow and to start making money😊. Your channel is growing at a good pace. As long as you're happy and you're willing to wait a little longer to start making money, then you're doing amazing!🤗💜

      @@chantewalt Thank you! That made me feel better. Since "comparing channels" is more of less impossible on YT, but is very tempting to do, I perked up a bit when you mentioned your family member who started around the same time as I did. I was wondering what made them decide to give up on it. I've personally noticed a few gaming channels that gets subs very fast (usually located in USA) but then "burn out" after about 1 year due to low ad rev or similar, especially compared to other niches. Or channels that get a lot of subs but no views and don't strive for an Improve mentality but keep expecting quick rewards. There also seems to be a trend to think that ad revenue is the only source of income to rely on.
      Correct me if I'm wrong but it's difficult to mention traction when it's impossible to compare numbers. On the latest "youtube asking for feedback", I did mention exactly that. Analytics are overwhelming and it's difficult to understand what to focus on. "Great news! People are clicking and watching longer" but the CTR is 0,4% 😂 Meanwhile I hear that a CTR under 4% sucks. So I would want more guided insight in regards to my own channel. "The previous 90 days this particular video did the best. Analyse why and see if you can take any of that with to your next video" and so on.
      I don't really know how to sort all these suggestions and tips, though a lot of YT gurus gives weird tips. I love your channel though, so I felt compelled to comment

    • @chantewalt
      @chantewalt  16 годин тому +1

      @KahliTheNerd Yes, it is difficult to compare channels since other similar channels don't share exact analytics🙈
      I always recommend trying to get a CTR of around 5% (for educational channels). But, it may be different for gaming channels😊
      So, the family member I was talking about quit his channel because he wasn't getting a lot of traction at all - sometimes only a couple of views per video. He decided it isn't worth it for the amount of effort.
      But, as I said, as long as you're happy with your progress and you don't burn yourself out, keep going!🤗💜

      @@chantewalt True. It's tempting though, and sometime soul crushing to compare. So I try to avoid it, haha!
      If I get about 2-3%, it's amazing. I think the issue for gaming is how it's been pushed into one category when it's actually very broad. Let's plays, guides, walkthroughs, educational, entertainment, cam or faceless.. so my videos CTR can vary a lot. Mostly because if my videos gets pushed to people who only enjoy "informational walkthroughs from their favorite game", they won't click video. But it's still within gaming. So yea, I can imagine that gaming is different than other categories in that sense.
      Then that makes a lot of sense! It IS a LOT of work (regardless of niche).. unless you semi-pro it through one game only, it's difficult to grow.. But if it's for an educational journey, it might be a good stepping stone as the material never runs out :)
      Thank you for your boosting words! Yes, I've set a very attainable schedule for myself and keep reminding myself not to get stuck on numbers only.
      Thank you for this video! It was much food for thought and I was inspired to keep thinking about how to pivot my category and the journey I want to make to "make it work" (I also want to make an income on this, of course). I'm hoping to comment on one of your videos at the end of the year with the 500-sub mark, which is currently my goal :D

    • @chantewalt
      @chantewalt  9 годин тому +1

      @KahliTheNerd I hear you. It can be very difficult🙈. And yes, gaming has sub-categories.
      One idea for you to monetise your channel is through merchandise, or maybe even creating a low-ticket membership where you and fellow gamers can connect, play games together, etc.
      I'll be talking more about making money on UA-cam in my future videos. So, you can watch them for more ideas!😃
      I'm rooting for you! You'll get to 500 subs in no time! Good luck🤗

      @@chantewalt Many times but after all the problems I've had on here including having my comments deleted I don't know if I wanna be on this platform anymore. @My-Cozy-Games I'm so sorry that you're feeling this way💜. I've seen that educational channels usually do very well on UA-cam. So, if you have a skill to teach (art, health, relationships, etc), you could always try that? UA-cam's algorithm usually likes those kinds of channels, making it a lot easier to succeed. Just a suggestion🤗
