Great vid. Beatiful pieces of music. Thanks Panu. I'm the lucky owner of 3x JD990 and 1x JV2080, all equipped with Vintage Cards. They are heavily underrated synths. I did buy the XV5080 as well, but imho it could not meet the shimmer, hifinesse or warmth from the aforementioned synths. Ask me whether I would chose a Prophet X and my answer is simple. I would rather buy a 4th JD990 and a second JV2080 and a Eventide Space.
have two JD-990's and two 2080' loaded up 14 cards with 04 card in the 990's and one in a 2080 JD-800 and V-synth 2.0 and an XT along with a pair of jv-880's ...
I almost bought my first expansion card for my jd990 but then found out about the recaping that needs to be done on these cards as shown by don solaris or someone else i think. Or they can catch fire. 😮 so didnt get one but still would love to own the vintage synth card! ❤
The recapping is easy for anyone who does this on vintage Mac/Amiga computers - find your local retro computing group, they're all over the world. Someone will do it cheap for your - it's one capacitor, vs those old computers which are tricky and involved. ALSO, you can get the same sounds on the SRX-07 card for later XV / Fantom instruments - and also via software addons for some newer Roland synths. For some models it's free, higher end current Fantoms I think, and for the Jupiter Xm I gave, the old SRX expansion boards are approx $20 USD each, sometimes they're rearranged vs the SRX cards, but either way you can get all SR JV-80 board sounds cheaply. However they do sound a little different in places effect wise, since orignally each 'patch' had it's own insert effect, on the modern gear it's like using them in performance mode.
@ thanks thats noted! Guess any “electric expert” could do it. I know a guy actually who did fox my novation nova power issue, he could most likely do it. Now i just need to keep my eyes open for the vintage card again 😄
The best :)
You have (or had) a great collection of synths! 👍

@@johnb2044 I only have a 1080 and a 2080 and thought of selling either one of them because of overlapping synths.
Wow I’m just about to get a 2080, sounds great
This card is also good (if not better) for JD-990.
Part 2 and 3 when????

@@AnalogFlava Vintage card can be pricey... also take a look at the SR JV80 Romulator...
Are those sounds the card presets for JV or custom ones?

Thank you! Your demos are always so good - musical and nicely put together, not just “patch browsing”. Very much respect for this! 👍
Keyboards EXP card for newer keybaords also have very similar patches. I have one on my Juno G.
