    Looking back on the days I was setting up my shop...I could have saved a sh**ton of cash had I had good advice like this. All of these tools are keepers and very smart choices for solid reasons.

    You meant to say that the tape measurer has standard on one side and Imperial on the other, right? ;) Nice tools. I really like the pocket hole machine :)

    Thanks Matt. I added 4 cabinet tools to the my shop this summer plus a large dust collector so the centipede is what I need next because shop real estate is closing in. I certainly agree about the cordless trim router. Extremely handy. Thanks again for the video, time to shop.

      The centipede is really handy for plywood. Makes it so much more enjoyable to cut 😃

    The Fastcap lefty-righty tape measure also has a built-in pencil sharpener and the white area is a write-on board that you can erase and reuse for making notes while measuring. This is the tape that lives in my apron pocket.

      All true! It's such a handy tape measure

    Really like the brake on the Dewalt trim router. Every time I turn my current routers off I have to watch the bit spin down and it would one less step if I didn't have to do this. However, probably not enough of a game changer to switch over from what I currently have but if I know of a newbie looking around I'd definitely mention this to them.

    Matt love the videos. Keep up the content. Had a question for the Bora Centipede, do you have to open it up and use it fully open? Like if I got the 8x8 could you only open it up to use 2x4 or 4x4 or do you need to actually fully open it 8x8? I was looking to get a couple 2x4 since I dont have much room but then could make a bit bigger one with a couple together. But saw your video and was wondering and thinking maybe I could get an 8x8 and not have to open it totally up to use.

    What size drill bit do you recommend for the Amanda drill and countersink? I usually only use screws to connect 3/4 plywood together.

    Hands-down, the best woodworker recommended gifts! I really liked how you tactfully avoided calling out the Kreg pocket hole. I suppose Masca and some of the others bore at 15°, but Kreg is definitely the leader.

    • @MWAWoodworks
      @MWAWoodworks  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah drill pocket jigs are mostly the same and very different from a Castle machine but I'm not meaning to put down Kreg or anything else. Those have a very good place in the DIY market. I just want to show that there are upgrades to be made while still using pocket hole construction 🙌

    • @chrisnash2154
      @chrisnash2154 2 роки тому +1

      I agree and Kreg should never be viewed as something negative. If anything they should be viewed as, “The gateway drug to woodworking”. They made it insanely easy for the weekend warrior with no experience to build their first piece of furniture. That being the case, when that inexperienced weekend warrior is ready to step up their game not only because their skill level has improved, but they are also looking for a higher quality pocket hole, then this is the way to go.

    Got the Dewalt compact router. Really love it the base that comes with the router really helps with stability and whereas most compact routers scream like a banshee, the Dewalt compact is astonishingly quiet using some magical Dewalt science engineerology

    Can you use any other drill bit sizes other than the 1/8” that comes with the countersink drill bit?

    • @MWAWoodworks
      @MWAWoodworks  2 роки тому

      No. However Amana makes multiple versions with different size bits in them

    Do you use any particular insulation under your plywood to cut on? How thick is it?

    • @MWAWoodworks
      @MWAWoodworks  Рік тому +1

      I just use the pink foam insulation from the big box. Owens Corning in think. It's about 1.5" thick
