Glad there helping mate, I'm well known for my waffling rather than my well articulated vids, saying that there is a lot of relevant stuff hidden within :)
Gamstop sort me out - really helped, I also self excluded from all the bookies in my town. gradually the urge went and I'm now 12 months gamble free - I actually feel like I've cracked it this time. Great to hear your story mate - take it easy....one day at a time
Hi Darren. Really liked this video. I've been battling gambling addiction for over 28 years and everyday's a struggle. This week's been tough and a combination of that and watching your video and others (including Katie and Andy M) inspired me to create my first one. It's just been uploaded to UA-cam (just search Trev Raynsford to find it). Gamblers Anonymous has never appealed to me, but I would never knock it. They do a great job for those who it does appeal to. Videos are my medicine and I feel much better for watching them. Keep up the good work mate!
Appreciate your story Darren, you sound just like myself. I acknowledged my problem gambling a few years ago and I'm hoping those sunny days aren't too far away. Same age as yourself and started around same time as you. I went 13 months gambling free, whole of 2016 but relapsed end of Jan 17. Now 2 weeks gamble free and I'm going to make sure I watch more of your videos this week as payday a week next Friday will be a challenge for me. How long have you been gamble free mate?
Thanks for saying hello Mark, my last bet was on the 7th of June 2016 and since then have spent a lot of my time researching the "problem gambler" and trying to understand our workings, By the sounds of it you done so well mate, was there any particular trigger that brought you to relapse ? I am glad your again on the right road and as you well know take it one day at a time and don't be to hard on yourself bud, if your on twitter find me @gamblingsucks if you need to DM me and I will always have time to chat , stay strong mate and if there is anything you would like me to discuss in my next video let me know :)
3 years plus is awesome mate, I wish I'd stayed strong a couple of years ago and I'd be in the same boat as you are now. Would be debt free too. I guess the trigger had something to do with the bank loan I got which I used to pay off my remaining credit card debts. Was £7,000 and I had around £1,500 left afterwards. Dunno why I didn't just apply for £6,000 instead. I certainly didn't have any intention to gamble when applying and knowing I'd have some excess cash for myself. 2 weeks after having that same cash in my account the urges returned and I stupidly thought I could gamble with no issues. Anyway 2 years down the line I'm just over £10,000 in debt and I'm on a debt management plan with StepChange that I started last November. I'll be debt free by end of 2020 but need to stay gamble free for that to happen. My problem gambling is the FOBT'S so so so addictive and would always be my go to place when the urges kicked in. I'm not on Twitter mate but will keep tabs on you here and will make sure I watch more of your videos soon
@@markwilkinson487 I know the fobt's only to well Mark , spent many years feeding the fucking things, so so addictive , I like yourself used to feel at ease in front of one , my best friend and worst enemy all wrapped in one, have you heard of Monzo bank account mate really helpful for gamblers , set your own withdrawal limits from the hole in the wall and will decline any attempted transaction in the bookies , worth a thought bud :)
