      "The Sandlot"
I have not seen the movie, but I do know that, absent italics, you are supposed to use double quotation marks to refer to the title of a movie. Most importantly, the name of the movie is "The Sandlot", not "Sandlot". That's like referring to "The Godfather" as "Godfather" or to "The Deer Hunter" as "Deer Hunter". Articles matter.

Here is the irony of listening and appreciating Vin Scully. I used to be a Giants fan up until 1965. They traded one of my favorite ball players at the time Orlando cepeda. Then a good friend of mine said tune in to KFI Los Angeles and listen to the Dodgers and their announcer Vin Scully. I loved the way he painted a picture with words. And he used to talk of The boys of Summer. The Brooklyn Dodgers and Jackie Robinson who was always one of my favorites. Heading into the 1966 season I decided I would become a Brooklyn Dodgers fan even though they were in Los Angeles. So I guess I could say I was once a Giants fan and because of Vin Scully I became a Dodgers fan. And just think then Scully was a Giants fan. Amazing! But I understand we all loved this man even though we never knew him. All Baseball fans in the good old USA will truly miss this true American man. Full of grace in his heart. I could hear in his voice and his spirit he truly loved his fellow man and woman. And gave thanks with every breath and every word to heaven. Thanks for being a kind and gentle Giants fan for posting your comment. Be safe stay well and God bless.

I can't believe it. I grew up with Vin in Brooklyn and we both moved to Los Angeles a few years apart. He not only was the voice of the Dodgers and MLB but the voice of summer. It's like a loss in the family. So much more I can say but too emotional. Maybe later. Rest well.

When we talk about unbreakable records in baseball, we think of Cal Ripken Jr's iron man streak, Rickey Henderson's base stealing, Nolan Ryan's strikeout total, and others. Vin Scully's 67 years as the Dodgers announcer is right there with the rest of them. That is an untouchable record and only scratches the surface of what he meant to baseball and all of its fans over those 67 glorious years. The greatest there was and will ever be. Rest easy, Vin. Your amazing voice will be a part of this iconic game forever.

I'll never understand why the average person will make a big deal over a rich man they more than likely never knew or met who is celebrated in this life when it tells us in the Bible to be in the world but not part of the world because Satan is the prince and the power of the air in this world.
It would only make sense to want to know the Creator who created you because he loves you but if you don't want to know him your whole life he's not going to want to know you if you wait until the very end to go to him more than likely. So let's hope that Vin Scully repented to Jesus Christ throughout his life because I don't know how much Mercy Jesus will have on you if you wait until the very end to go to him when you've only been part of the problem in this world your whole life because you did not believe.
"It's harder for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of heaven than it is for Camel to enter the eye of a needle"
      - Jesus Christ
He meant that literally because he knows just how hard it is to resist all the temptation that comes with all that money from being rich.
Mark 8:36 "What would it profit a man to gain the whole world but lose his own soul"
"Blessed are the poor". - Jesus
Matthew 7:13 "Enter ye in at the straight gate for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction and many are those who enter in by it"
      Satan will fool the masses.

I listened to the Dodgers from 1968 on.. I remember having a transistor radio under the covers when I was supposed to be asleep up in Lompoc CA listening to Vin on KFI 640 and getting caught by my mom or dad more than once... I went to my first dodger game in September of 1970.. it was the Dodgers versus the Giants on a beautiful Sunday afternoon and I got to see Willie Mays hit a home run... And I was introduced to the voice of Vince Scully again in the stadium by the thousands of fans who had their radios cranked up listening to his play-by-play... I continued this tradition well into the next 5 decades with my own kids... Thanks for making the game so much fun and for teaching us so much. You were our baseball ambassador and we will never forget you.

Never took it for granted, always loved what he did, and the most important thing the connection he had with fans, not only dodgers fans, but all MLB fans, also the love for the game of baseball, thats the reason he lasted so long because he was a genius at what he did. So long Scully, broadcast easy and like you said it, it would always be time for dodger baseball. LEGENDARY

As a Tigers fan who grew up listening to Ernie Harwell, the hole left vacant by the passing of Vin is massive...historically, locally in LA/Brookland and baseball as a sport. The man was SO good at his job. He was your guy. He knew when to talk, to set up the situation, he knew what to talk about when the action slowed, and he knew when to shut up and let the situation unfold. For many, he was the voice of your childhood, where you were from and who you were. He was your identity in some respect. Man oh man, the things he saw and described and the impacts he had on others...wow, what a life.

Shame on you, Boston! Los Angeles was always Dodger Town and Vin was our voice. The Lakers had their decade, but the Dodger were almost always in the pennant race, year after year for 60 years. Nobody could call a game - alone in the booth - like Vin. Even when the score was lopsided and the teams out of the running, you stuck around for the stories. Vince always called the games like a neutral umpire, never overly demonstrative for his home team. We always felt he was fair on the radio. He complimented great plays by the opposition all the time. Boston announcers could learn from the old master.

No disrespect to Vin Scully, but at some point you have to move on from sports and consider a more cultured pursuit. Consider how Olbermann left ESPN for the mentally stimulating world of televised government and political science. Cultivate your interests. It can't just be calling baseball games for eighty years.

Politics is completely fake today! I would hardly call that a move up! 🙁

You don't do something for almost 70 years if it's not your interest. Baseball was obviously this man's life, I'm sure he lived his life how he wanted.
