Pitch kicks are the kind used in Hardstyle / happy hardcore they're more distorted and sound more like an electrical signal rather than a kick waveform. I personally prefer standard kicks in house music including dirty dutch but everyone seems to use them nowadays. My ears just prefer sounds that aren't distorted as most producers don't really get it right. For good distortion see Noisia haha.
