One of my favorite things about it is that the show literally matures as it goes on, along with the characters and audience. I just love that little thing.
Funfact about this show, it was supposed to be kinda like a house for imaginary friends (the show) but for different animation styles, but that idea was kinda dropped when they realized how much work that was
Actually, it was supposed to be about rejected cartoon characters going to a remedial school to be more media-friendly, but the executive Ben Bocquelet pitched the idea to found the idea depressing and really was interested in family sitcoms, so Ben reworked it and voilà: we have Gumball.
- Gumball is voiced by Logan Grove (seasons 1 - 2) & he voiced Beast Boy in Young Justice - Darwin is voiced by Kwesi Boakye (season 1 until an episode in 3) he voiced Gossamer in The Looney Tune Show - Anais is voiced by Kyla Rae Kowalewski who also voiced Me-Mow from Adventure Time - Nicole is voiced by Teresa Gallagher - Richard is voiced by Dan Russell - Alligators on a Train is a reference to Snakes on a Plane
Last point is very on the nose joke, I hadn't even seen Snakes on a Plane and I immediately got the reference when I was watching this as a kid at like 10 years old.
The amazing world of gumball is one of those shows where the jokes always land no matter how late in the series, it doesn't get more childish or less childish it's a perfect balance throughout the whole series.
And so it begins. The fact I've watched this show as a kid all the way till the end (?), even I can't explain nor prepare you for what's to come down the line. That's how insane & brilliant this show is 😂
This alongside Regular Show, Adventure Time, and Steven Universe was among the last good modern shows I watched on Cartoon Network before it became the Teen Titans Go channel (over 400 eps and still going). Oh, and also O.K. K.O. but that ended up getting cancelled after Season 3. Such a shame too because I liked the concept and one of K.O.'s VAs played Kid Gohan in OG Dragon Ball Z (Stephanie Nadolyn).
This cartoon has a great sense of humor even for adults. It's weird but not Adventure Time levels of weird. I remember not liking the show at first because of the quirky artstyle but the jokes just kept getting me 😂
There is a reason why all the characters are animated in different styles, because the creator of the show Ben Bocquelet originally planned it to be about rejected cartoon characters. Also the animation follows certain rules, Gumball and his family are 2D animated, the backgrounds are real-life (they are all real locations), and then the supporting cast can be anything
Hands down my favorite modern-era Cartoon Network show which, despite the popularity, never really got enough attention due to people appreciating Adventure Time and Steven Universe for their story-driven genre. To be fair, I totally understand; I love them both just as much for that reason, but Gumball was the show that hooked me as something that doesn’t emotionally drain me and, honestly, increased further in comedy as it progressed, arguably to a greater extent than Adventure Time and Steven Universe. And Gumball has plot, it’s just hidden very well. Also, the diverse art styles and animation in this show is unprecedented, and I’ll forever love it for that. Here’s hoping the development for the movie goes smoothly.
For sure! In the same way many cartoons are story-driven but also include a lot of episodic narratives/comic relief to lighten the mood, Gumball is a primarily humor-based, episodic show with a proper story in the background, which I really love.
I never watched much of this show when it was airing, but from what I did see I'm pretty sure the writers and animators were tripping _every_ ball that they had.
This is actually some good timing, another reaction channel I watch is uploading their reaction to the finale tomorrow so it’s nice to see another channel start the show.
Yes, Darwin IS actually adopted. I forget when exactly it was confirmed, but I remember it's dropped pretty casually in the first season somewhere, so it's not like this is a big spoiler. The _origins_ of that adoption is quite a different story, however. So imma let you guys get to that, when you get to it. Which isn't going to be ANYTIME soon, since that episode is way later in the seasons.
Gumball is such an amazing and creative show. It has such fantastic humour and great writing. The multiple animation styles makes the show so unique. You guys are gonna love every moment of this show.
Probably, the best animated television comedy of 2010's, and a part of my personal top 50 media of all time. What started as a cool concept with weak and cliche stories, gradually became a one of it's kind experience and an example of genius writing. I was 9 when it was airing, now I'm 22..And this is the kind of shows I would watch with my children one day, alongside How to Train Your Dragon, Kung Fu Panda, Pixar classics and all the other things dear to my heart! Welcome to the Amazing World of Gumball, guys!
I feel like watching Spongebob for so many year has conditioned my brain to not to question why cartoon parents & kids are sometimes different creatures. Never thought about it with shows like Gumball, not even with Mr. Ping and Po until it's mentioned in Kung Fu Panda 2.
season 1 is obviously good and iconic but you'll see how much the show will surprise you throughout its seasons. an adjective I'd definitely use to descrive this show is risky. good luck w your journey! loved the reaction
I didn’t watch this show until recently, and now I regret not watching it sooner. It’s got SpongeBob levels of comedy and I’m glad you’re checking it out
This show is a chaos show. No matter how this show is for kids. It has wild moments for the series or show. I love you guys. Hope you guys are having a great awesome day. ❤
So many episodes I'm excited to get to. The Question, The Faith, The Shippening, The Singing, The Dreams, the episode where the animation just falls apart
this and adventure time were THE shows of my childhood (like, EARLY childhood - i remember being 10 and quoting this show to my friends lmao). i didn't realise how much of it i remembered until watching this and being able to predict every scene before it happens - and hey, shit, the humour holds up! what!!! i rlly need to rewatch this, n i'm SO glad you're seeing it for the first time :] and yeah - nicole is the best lmao. baby-me definitely had a crush on her. she's so cool
YOOOO 5/7 Days will be some of my favorite series?!? Y’all are amazing! Avatar, Adventure Time, Steven Universe, Gumball, & NOW She-Ra?! Y’all don’t miss! I love this show sm! it's such a unique show. & yes the fish (Darwin) is adopted, there's 2 episodes (they're both parts) about that later on in the show, it's a pretty sweet story
I think this show is very underrated. It's squarely aimed at kids and doesn't quite tackle the maturity of a Gravity Falls or Steven Universe does, but I think there's tons of jokes for teens and adults in here.
1000% Yes. I started watching this when i released, but...then college happened, but I really enjoyed what I saw and hear nothing but good things about the development
Gumball to me is THE funniest western cartoon since the Golden age of SpongeBob, and that really speaks volumes because the golden age of SpongeBob is in my top 10 shows... Assuming im allowed to just isolate seasons 1-3 and maybe 4. Now I havent seen EVERY episode of Gumball but I have seen alot, and 90% of the time it's comedy gold.
There was a short-lived Australian cartoon called "Sit Down Shut Up" about teachers from a failing high school, but that lasted a season and its American adaptation lasted for four episodes due to negative reviews.
Wow, I love this show (even though I never managed to watch the last season) and I can't wait to see you guys see some of the later stuff that elevates this from good to legendary. Also fun fact: did you know that basically all the characters in this show where made by the creator for commercials and such but got rejected, that is why there are so many disparate styles and designs. Edit: It just occurred to me how weird TAWoG looks like if you're not used to it, I basically grew with this show so the bizarreness of the mixed animation styles never quite registered for me until you guys commented on it.
A show that originally was proposed for Adult Swim but had to accept being in a "kids channel" instead... But the core is there... And it reveals itself slowly and progressively... The guys behind that are not playing or holding back at all, just like MLP quality after season 1 and first movie xD
Hands down the funniest animated kids show I've watched growing up, I think it's better on average than Adventure Time and Regular Show but all 3 were the cornerstone to my childhood.
Man this show is going to be having some competition with Adventure Time watching with you guys 😄 Also seems interesting to say that I had a professor who brought his children to work one day during a “Halloween Costume Contest/Party” and he dressed up as Richard and his three kids dressed up as Gumball, Darwin and Anais for the party.
I can't wait for y'all to react more to this show cause the animation team does. A GODLIKE STUFF ON THIS SHOW and this show is super funny AND SUPER SUPER META also fun fact: Nicole the mother of gumball and wife of Richard the pink bunny SHE IS LOVED BY A LOT OF PEOPLE A LOT AND I MEAN LOVE LOVE
This show gets sooooo good; one of my fave comedies of all time. It takes some time to get to that point though so I really hope you stick with it even if it doesn’t immediately grab you
A chaos of a show with lots of art styles for each character, you´re gonna have your minds blown up for sure. Keep watching it ; D gets more chaotic later

The Insanity Begins, I wish y'all luck.
Lol
Do you think they're gonna make it?
No not really
This is one of my favourite shows of all time.
Yo
Seeing how the show starts out compared too when it fully hits its stride in season 2 is so interesting.
Yeah, I prefer season 2 to be honest with you
I'd say it really picks up round the second half of season 3. That's when the humor really gets consistently good.
It just gets more insane bruh
One of my favorite things about it is that the show literally matures as it goes on, along with the characters and audience.
I just love that little thing.
This is probably one of my favourite animated sitcoms. Y'all are in for some fun
