What a transformation in the garden.

The plants are overgrown again already. Must get out there and dig them out, along with topping the Orange trees.

The jungle disappeared 😅 It did have a charm but it's more healthy for the trees and the walls to get rid of the jungle. The bassin in the middle should be a feature like a fountain, your house is mauresc, so obviously a sehrij or bassin in the garden is normal, u can find similar features in northern Mediterranean, its also a roman feature too to have a bassin in the middle of the courtyard/garden. It's beautiful 😍. Historically in summer people use to live downstairs while in winter they moved upstairs, that's why u can find many rooms downstairs too.

Many thanks. That all makes perfect sense. I have a plan to put in a small fountain or water feature there.

Bravo! What an incredible transformation in the garden area - can hardly believe it’s the same space! You’re doing a great job - keep it up. So glad I found your channel and I’m looking forward to seeing what you have planned next!
(and don’t worry about the haters … some people apparently just need to complain. The rest of us can be patient while you learn the ropes starting a new vlog. I don’t think it’s 90% you talking. I think it’s just the right amount.)

Back into the garden next week so probably 2-3 weeks before you see it on the channel. Its a mess already - overgrown again and a bit of a builders site sigh :-)

Merci. J'ai parcouru le contenu des jardins marocains et j'ai tellement d'idées. Du temps et de la patience, je suppose, plus un peu d'argent :0)

That'll be a lovely garden once all is said and done.

Think we are going to go along the route of a Kasbah, Moroccan style garden. Oh and some plants to help keep the Mosquitoes away :-)

The 'ivy' was trumpet vine and the 'palm' was yuca. I have both in my garden in Crete and they love the dry hot climate. But they do need to be kept in check...

    • @MovingtoSicily
      @MovingtoSicily  5 місяців тому

Thank you so much. I'll do some homework to decide if we should keep them or replace them. Very aggressive growers considering there is no rain! Any tips on plants we should consider? Would love to have Roses.....

@@MovingtoSicily I think you will have trouble killing the trumpet vine. I like it but it must be pruned twice a year. I find roses a bit slow and disease-prone, the climbing ones normally only flower a couple of times a year. Bougainvillea would be a better choice. Oleander flowers all summer and is drought-resistant. Just look up Mediterranean gardens on UA-cam.

Hi mate good luck! We are thinking the same (but without the work as DIY not our thing). How does it work with Brexit as you can only spend 90 days out of 180 down there?

I'm planning on putting something together to explain the process we followed. The best option and one we took was to involve a UK based Italian lawyer who handled everything for us. In essence, apply for residency within 8 days of arrival at local police station and fill out a ton of paperwork. Easiest options for you would probably be a long stay Visa, then after 5 years you transfer it to a permanent residency. Or look at the digital nomad (some regions only charge 2-5% income tax fixed for ten years).

I just discovered your channel but I also heard you say that you wouldn't be back here for another 8 months? So does that mean, your channel won't start until then.

Nope, there should be enough content lined up to cover our move and progress on the house. We are already back in Sicily and plenty happening :-).

Some individuals are trying to give you feedback on what they prefer to view. While there delivery of the message appears rude their intent is to assist your production in a positive manner. Review them, reflect on them and adjust according to your preferences. It does appear from your discussion that you will be absent for sometime? Can you have someone videotape the work? I believe that is what interest most individuals is the work in transformation. Otherwise, you may lose viewers.

Getting there. Just me at the moment but hope to have some more interesting content soon. As the place is so large, I jump around a bit each week doing diff projects. Last thing I would want to see is several videos of me polishing floors (23 rooms) which would take months lol. Really do appreciate any feedback so long as its constructive and has advice like yours - thank you!

Thanks for the comment - I will every so often try to put a longer video clip in. It's tough learning to vlog and doing the work. Most of the time I forget to turn the camera on... sigh :-)
