- Every year Volkswagen enthusiasts from around South Africa and around the world convene in Bela Bela near Warmbaths to show off their VWs.
Everything Volkswagen is allowed, from classic MK1 Golfs to Audis and Porsche. This year, our presenter Jacob Moshokoa took several of his personal cars to the event to showcase them. He was also kind enough to do a tour of the Camp Fest with us, pointing out some key machines and interviewing a few of the high profile vehicles from the 2024 VW Camp Fest.

I remember when Jacob was rolling in a 2door golf vr6. Interesting collection you got there bro.
Only 400 Mk7 GTI Clubsport S models were produced worldwide, and out of those, just 47 were sold in South Africa. Interestingly, in SA, we had a higher number of E46 M3 CSL models sold, with a total of 65.

I know what you mean. The body modifications are cool but when it’s dropped, I lose my enthusiasm.

Myself I am a Function over form guy. MINES garage in Japan has a famous white R34 they never went with 800 or 1000hp ...what they did was enhance the car upgraded to coilovers lowered the car little added some power and the car was a beast on the track...
I'm not OCD however I also don't vibe with dropped cars 😢

I love VW and South Africans love the brand. Easy to tell. Suprises me that with all the love VW gets no one talks about the massive rip off on parts when dealing with dealerships!! We literally pay 4 to 5 times more than countries overseas. Example need a new plastic belly cover for my A3.. got a qoute from a stealership for 12k for something that is entirely made of hard plastic.. Look at Audi parts store in America, the part is $150 dollars which is 3k is rands..VW is nothing but a rip off and thats coming from a VW fan. I love the cars but no one is talking about why we getting ripped off on a daily basis!!

I understand VW but not a fan due to reality it comes with. Let me substantiate: Insurance, Safety, Those who are in the business of permanently borrowing your car, notwithstanding stigmas. So VW is not for me, i understand its representation and its modification capabilities but ya... When reality is done and dusted ..

Nice video terrible event! We used to attend this but every year it was just filled with drunken sods (old and new), our Golf was even scratched at Badplaas. That American Jamie is also obnoxious I'm not sure if other people see this but in most cases he basically uses people and businesses in SA to help him build cars which he takes back to USA with him. Maybe if he donated it to someone that needed a car that would've been better. His last escapade he wanted to see the country but used Saffers to escort him around and get more followers and build his car! Saffers fall for everything American!🤦♂
Agree. Plus it's just a bragging fest. You only cool with the latest or most expensive car. No longer a pure spirit event. Want to win an award, just slap in a VR6/R32/6 motor in. That's why I left the car scene years ago.
I barely even even look at the facebook groups anymore. I remember some guy was bragging in our VR6 group because he slapped in an R32 engine and criticising everyone because they just owned their mk VRs, only to find out all that money was from he's dead mom's insurance money. Lmao
