- Aleksandra Kurzak sings an excerpt from the title character’s Act II aria in the final dress rehearsal. Production: David McVicar. Conductor: Carlo Rizzi. 2022-23 season. Videography by Neville Braithwaite.
Saw her entire run with Michael Fabiano at the Met recently. Her interpretation of Tosca was STUNNING each night. Must be considered a leading Tosca of our day.
I have to agree with you … is almost like she re-composed this piece of music!
Watched this evening. I had tears after the aria 😭😭
Ah. I love her angelic soft tones. And she can hold them forever. It seems like they disappear into her and then resonate quietly from deep within her. Ventriloquist's miracle.
Zachwycająco! Ślicznie! Brawo Aleksandra!!

@@LuisMartinez-wz1en you can use the internet. here’s a hint , this is not Rossini.
don’t use a word if you don’t know the meaning. that’s ignorant.

Wow, beautiful…
Grata Susanna, Adina, Norina, Mimi... Tosca?
Tosca was a little bit too big for her. Also Butterfly. Not to say she shouldn’t have tried them, but people have said how great it was…. but not totally.
Lovely, but I didn't like "per(kah), per(kah), Signore".
She is capable….but i cannot but help think this type of role is not what flatters her voice the best. She is very good at the queen and such, but there is something missing from her tosca vocally…a pathos in the middle and low voice….a power that comes from a true lyric soprano….again she is good and i am pleased at the lack of wobble we so often hear nowadays but the met should give her better roles for her voice!!!
Can you share what is she missing... something ?
I saw her at Met and enjoyed her Tosca.
Tend to agree. She is a good singer, with a good technique, I like her… but the timbre of her voice is fairly ordinary. It’s not a characterful voice. I don’t close my eyes and think “oh, that’s Kurzak”… it could be pretty much anyone.
Honestly, I've seen betters than her. Much better by the way.
This was a rather nice rendition by Aleksandra Kurzak. However, Gina Cigna, Maria Caniglia, Zinka Milanov, Birgit Nilsson, Renata Tebaldi, Maria Callas, and Leonie Rysanek own, win, and triumph not only in "Vissi d'Arte" but also in the entire darn role of Floria Tosca both dramatically and vocally.
i'm afraid those ladies are deceased. if you want to enjoy live opera you're going to have to get over it.
@@danseinfernale2648 I'm aware of that. I'm just saying.
@@operaanimelover369 Why?
@@danseinfernale2648 Why not?
@@operaanimelover369 Because when you say things like that it dismisses artists that are alive & working today. We need to keep Opera alive not stuck in the past.
Terrible… Sad days for Puccini and the Met
Can you do better? Show us. Beautiful days for Puccini and the Met.
She is not blowing her horn to the fullest. Is that your critique?
"Terrible" is such a poor word to describe someone, someone's skills. I am sure you could have done better...
Beautiful voice lacking acting skill
