Need to up my brass prep setup and going through some new vs old videos definitely see how far your channel has come. Awesome work man, always keep moving forward 👍
Sold Me.... Great review. The case trimmer on this is what got me. The way the tool locks the cam in place and the way it functions like a drill press seems like it will ensure a square and correctly sized case every time. I'm logging into amazon right now! The Hornady cam lock trimmer is almost impossible to consistently repeat case length length with. I find that after about two or three cases the lock nut has slipped and doom inspires.
As a long time machine operator you might want to try doing all the operations on each piece of brass rather than picking each piece up and setting each one down 3 times it could save some time. pretty neat piece of equipment. Thanks for all the info and demonstrations.
I like to see him trimming a couple case and measure them at different points to see if it trims even all around the case. MY RCBS Pro 2 case trimer is + or - .005 at diffenet points of the case as you measure all around the trimmed case.
I have one and well .....there is a lot of room for improvement. The case trimmer section is fiddly at best and difficult to accuracy set up the case trim distance. Once the case trimmer has been set up properly, then it is a simple matter of quickly trimming your back log of case prep chores. I have no issue with the primer pocket reamer and other rotation tools. If you have an opportunity to look at how the slider mechanism is engineered......as I said there is lot of room for improvement.
I bought the Frankford Platinum case prep tool, but after a couple dozen cases, your fingers get tired of holding and forcing the cases into the cutter. This looks like it would solve that.
Did you measure your trimed cased 4 or 5 times to see if you get different numbers at different points of the case? I would love to if you would demonstrate that becuase people are sick and tired of these trimers that don't trim evenly.
Gavin, great review...but i'd much rather put my money towards a Giraud power trimmer, which I did...you should review one some time. Are you using a prime lens for the initial intro on this video?
I am new to reloading and like the idea of a multiple function tool (saves space) but on the Midway site many of the reviews are SO NEGATIVE...is that just cranky old man syndrome or is this NOT the Machine to buy. I love my HORNADAY LOCK-N-LOAD Classic Kit and do not want to have my crush on the BIG H destroyed...any insights?
Have you seen or had any problems with this unit cutting off square? I just got mine today and after setting it up and trimming a few 30-06 cases I began to notice that the cases were being cut off square. All I can figure out so far is that the cutter head move to off center when the shell pushes on the pilot. So far I havent figured out how this is happening. Any thoughts?
Crimp = "staking" primer in place. Swage = remove primer crimp by forcing "plug" into primer pocket (such as swaging station on Dillon Super 1050). This tool can be used with a primer pocket reamer that cuts the crimp out, and puts a chamfer on the primer pocket opening which can make priming smoother and less trouble-prone. So- yes, you can remove primer pocket crimps with this case prep tool!
That's a no from me. I can't stand to take the time to lock the case into the shell holder. Overall it seems like it can do a good job, but that load case and lock into shell holder is taking too much time per trim cycle. I want the tool to skip that loading step, and just use my hand to jam the case into a cutter tool, as the Frankford tool can do.
The vertical adjustment on this thing looks really janky. Having to undo the knob at the back and then using coarse thread on the adjuster rod would make for difficult accurate adjustment. Why didn't they use a real fine thread and a micrometer so you can measure the brass and then make that 0.003" or 0.001" adjustment if needed? The method to lock in the brass also looks really time consuming and would fatigue your hands. RCBS's spring tension system is way faster and requires much less effort. Additionally if you look at 5:42 when he's using the deburr tool you can see how much the trim die is bouncing up and down. This doesn't look like a tool that would produce precision ammo to me. Great idea on this whole tool but it looks like very poor execution.
I am sooo disappointed by this product, I bought it in august 2023, the spindle spins under load and dings up the locking pin, got a replacement spindle and pin, and after 50 trims, it spins around again and dings up the pin, $700 down the drain, plus I bought extras…

I have the hornady lnl classis kit, but after watching your videos think i will get the redding t7 press also. Great reloading videos. keep em comin
Gavin. Will it accept any standard shellholder like Lee redding RCBS or only hornady? Same question for the pilots. Thank you!
The 1 dislike is an RCBS rep
Do you still have to clean the brass in a tumbler even though you just cleaned it with the tools brush?

I think you just sold me one of these machines. Thanks.
What happens when your shirt tail get wrapped around those deburring heads. ???

LE Wilson case trimmer kit with the micrometer. Pricey, but 100% worth it imo

Will you do a tour of your reloading area and is the pro chucker 7 review coming soon???
Hi. I am thinking of getting one. May I ask you to please give me the dimensions of the machine as it would need to fit into my check in luggage?
Why not put two switches on it. One for trimming the brass one for cleaning it up. Especially at the price point.

Will this deswage military brass?

Agreed, this review made me not want to drop $500 on one of these for the same reasons you've mentioned
still not worth 350$
More than $400 now if you can even find one. Natchez has them listed for $440.00. Costs more than my entire Rock Chucker kit.
better with necktie
Very nice equipment but then I looked at the price.......no thanks!
