The Great Yellow Bumble Bee is doing really well in parts of Europe. Here in the UK there are not so common. The Queens in the Cheshire area have started pretty late this year. I will try and get some new footage. The worker bees from the Great Yellow Bumble Bee absolutely love Creeping Thistles,Cosmos,Sunflowers,Blackberry blossom and we noticed last year they love Rasberry flowers and Rosebay Willow herb.
Goat Willows are really good for those Queens that come out early.
Old Woodmouse nests are essential for many species of Bumble Bee Queens. On the coast there are some bees that nest in old rabbit warrens where the female rabbit has had young in previously.
Carder Bees 100% love old grey squirrel nests to nest in. One of my friends in Birmingham had a squirrel nest in his roof for winter in 2015 then last year Carder bees took over. Same thing happened in an old oak tree with an old disused squirel nest.
If you leave old bird nests in nest boxes, making sure there are no dead birds in, the following year bees will nest in it. It is best to relocate it near the ground facing slightly South East. Dont forget to put a new nest bos back up for the birds. Then in winter time you will have another one to repeat the cycle.
    Hope this info helps. :)

Great Video, but a small correction Sir, Bumble Bees do store honey!!! But only enough to last about 3-5 days... Poisons,Pesticides and Weedkillers on farms and gardens are the main reason for their decline, if you notice as the Bees are dying out so are the Butterflies. They are unrelated species but feed on the same food sources, do you see the link here? Every one needs to stop using Weedkillers and Pesticides then problems like CCD in Honey Bees will not exsist and Bee numbers will recover.

10:36 - Sing to the tune of the song at the end... "They use the bees as much as they please, then seal their fate with the greatest of ease, if they had a heart it would surely freeze, there's no more greenhouse to live in"! They've filled their pockets like a dastardly hound, the bees life cut short in their impound, a native species would have been sound, there's no more greenhouse to live in!!!!!

If every single farm field had just a 1 foot border round the edge with wild annuals and perennials just think how many billions of extra flowers there would be for the Bees? Every single railway bank could also be seeded, where appropriate. Roof top gardens planted with rockery plants like yellow stone crop. this in a addition to stopping the use of poison pesticides and weedkillers in our gardens and farms would help bees recover.

    Plant blue and purple flowers.
    Bumblebees love them.
    Plant fruit trees.
    Bumblebees love them even more.
    Enjoy your bumblebees even more.
    Forestation begins.
    Bzzz You :)

I just like to know the difference between two Bumble Bees I see around my place in the Summer. I am in Eastern Canada. They are both fat round body. One is black with all yellow stripes. The other is black and has an orange strip with the yellow stripe(s) but no white. There are other bees in my province, but these two I favor most. I'll have to take photos of them this year to help with identity of them.

28.50 ... nice legs. Native Australian stingless bees are really cool, you might be interested. Trying to create habitats for them here! Of course introduced Euro wasps and bees have largely decimated them but they are clinging on.

It sucks these bees are going extinct because they are actualy cool. I can't speak for british bumblebees (since I'm from the us and have never been to the uk), but in the use they are non-aggressive unless you mess with their nest and serve a purpose. Plus they look cool. I hope people work to save them

The same applies with UK bumblebees. Although Tree bumblebees are more grumpy than some if they feel their nest is under threat.

They are amazing 🐝 In my garden are so many I'm trying to find out their scientific names. I just published a video with the ones I've been taking footage of during the summer. Perhaps someone knows those names 🐝💛

That is so un ethical to kill the bees after they have done all that work! tomato Pollen is not that good protein wise. Why don't they have native colonies then once you have finished with them, place the boxes out side where they can breed in the wild helping the environment! Why no mention of BOMBUS MAGNUS? a very important Bee
