Gogean started the two-foot landing craze we see now. Her final pass was a total stick, and this routine kind of exemplifies the beginning of a change in women's gymnastics.
I think Gina is expressive in her own way. It's not like some of the routines, which can seem robotic. It's understated but it has soul. And her expression is poised and dignified. I've always loved this routine.
This is my favorite routine of her’s too. Gina was always so under appreciated. She may not always have flashy skills, but she hardly ever had form deductions. She did her routines beautifully. You don’t win 20 Olympic and World medals because you’re a bad gymnast.
This was actually very nicely choreographed. Love the ending pose. If only Gina gave us some expression, even just a little, it would've elevated this performance so much. She has the dance and the tumbling, but with no expressiveness until that end pose, it just doesn't sing like it could.
I know it's considered easy now, But at least she did 2 front tucks after the 1/1. At the time, nobody did 3 sommeys in a row. So it wasn't lame back in the day. Like thisroutine for her, and love her double layouts. That nailed Tsukahara right at the end is just sick! SICK SICK SICK!
I think her dance is very good here. Her choreography in 1993 and 1994 wasn't good, and I think it pegged her as a terrible dancer, but her compulsory floor dance was always good and her routines in 1992, 1996 and 1997 had decent dance.
Back to 1994, havent exposed to international gymnastics yet. My coach brings me a video tape with the 94 European championship. I fell inlove with Gogean right away.
@@rolandgreen7484 Actually both Amanar and Gogean were very strong competitors for that EF gold. Lilipod was good, but I don't think it was a "certain" that she could win.
@@kp395 Lilia scored 9.887 on floor twice in Atlanta, and had the highest score every round of the 4 except team optionals where she went out of bounds. She also had a 9.912 at Europeans in the All Around. Yeah she was pretty big favorite to win floor gold in Atlanta, and if she hit all her landings she was always going too, no matter what anyone else did.
WOW this is actually very good choreo.....I say that not because I think she couldnt express herself more a comparison with her rather 'lacklustre' floor routine @ Atlanta the following year....she could well have medalled there with a performance like this IMO !!!!!

I agree with you. She has a style of her own, I always liked her. And she was a great competitor, always chill during competitions.

Floor was the only event I thought Gina truly expressed herself. I love this routine a lot!!

Romania needs another Gina Gogean.
OMG, so true!
This is my favorite routine of Gina's. Great dance and nice music selection.

I feel like had she kept this routine and stayed inbounds in 96 she would have won floor gold.
Lebronze Hi I just wanted to say that I'm a LeBlanc main AND love gymnastics. 😂
Haha, never thought I'd meet another :p.

Fun fact: her music is NOT traditional Romanian “folklore” music, but traditional GREEK Bouzouki music 🕺🏽
Strălucitoare! Gina Gogean.Super! Bravo !❤❤
this was her best floor routine. wished she did this in atlanta
She really drilled that full in at the end.
Bart and Kathy were right on in their comments
whatever she does up in the air, she sticks her landing with her feet together. amazing!
as far as artistic impression i always thought her floor was the best; but the beam is a mess lol
Yeah yeah yeah. Um, NOT! I like her Zorbo The Greek routine the best :)

did she medal
1st place - 9.825
I liked the second pass... it was at least different than what everyone was doing back then. You have some angst for the Romanians, don't you? Dang.
apparently you didn't see her routines in 1996 and '97.
Gina Gogean e una din cele mai bune gimnaste. Mi-a placut mult aceasta evolutie !
@msms68 She won gold
Wowza.
