I'm glad you mention this is your first time ever DJing. It was obvious, treating $50K of audio equipment like it's a CD player you press play and stop on. I think it was probably a big part of why the crowd was largely unmotivated, since there was no real performance, simply playing songs. When you get some skills on the decks you'll be able to transition between songs with some really cool stuff, like the songs do on your albums.
